Bookishness: Loving Books in a Digital Age | Jessica Pressman
11 posts | 1 read | 2 to read
Jessica Pressman explores the rise of "bookishness" as an identity and an aesthetic strategy that proliferates from store-window dcor to experimental writing. Ranging from literature to kitsch objects, stop-motion animation films to book design, she considers the multivalent meanings of books in contemporary culture.

I forgot to post this yesterday. #BookSpin #DoubleSpin. Maybe August will be the month I actually read both. Since I failed miserably in June and July, here‘s hoping this month is better 🤞🦩

An interesting article in this week's Publishers Weekly.

Mentions the tagged title in the introductory paragraph - "Bookishness: Loving Books in a Digital Age."

Since this is a professional periodical I have to pass along to colleagues, I like to be conscientious of how much time I spend with it.

Enter the copy machine to my rescue! Will be diving into it this weekend and highlighting to my heart's content ????

A little #bookspinbingo update because I‘m giving up on reading challenges!! If I meet he prompts naturally, great. But I‘m not pushing it. I want to try to take a year to just read what I want when I want. Which means I DNFd my #doublespin 😂

• Been busting out all my bookish goodness today. First the library socks and found my library mugs this afternoon. I need to be using these things but I also want to sorta keep them in good condition!! My heart will break a bit if toddler grabs and destroys. Oh well...drinking out of this one tonight 😍 Terrible picture, btw 😬 •

Managed to find some free time for this. No mean feat during the silly season.

Thanks to netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. An interesting read, about how our love of actual books is being replaced with the convenience of digital books. Reading it (ironically on my Kindle) did get me thinking about how much I still love walking into bookstores and reading actual books.Whilst some of this book was spent discussing some books I wasn't familiar with, overall it's a great read for any book lover. ⭐⭐⭐
