After reading 1/3 of this book I just couldn't make myself continue. I never connected with the characters. I especially detested Prudence. She was a piece of work. DNF!

This was a really cute story! Prudence has spent the entire year trying to work with her irresponsible biology lab partner to create their final project about helping the sea animals where they live. They don't get a good enough grade, so she has to convince him to spend the summer redoing the project. Meanwhile, she falls and bumps her head one day, and realizes she now has the ability to exact "instant karma" on anyone she thinks deserves it.

After reading the blurb and a few reviews I didn‘t expect to enjoy this, but if you just acknowledge that it‘s a YA romance, it can be amusing and enjoyable to know it will all work out in the end. Prudence kind of drove me crazy with her complete lack of communication skills and a bit more character growth would have been good, but it was a fun listen. The beach town setting and supporting characters were wonderful. 🏝 🦭

While I did enjoy this book, I felt like something was missing. The book was funny. How could it not be when you have a teen with "power" to enforce Karma on anyone? The characters were interesting, I liked most of them. It ultimately just felt like a regular YA book.

8/10 -sooooo cheesy. But I‘m a sucker for cheesy so what can I say? Cute characters-I‘m kind of like prudence lol. The story was cohesive and interesting, although a little childish.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. The characters were fun and likeable for the most part. Pru drove me a little bit nuts as she whined a LOT, but that is also typical teenager. She did show growth and development which I appreciated. I enjoyed the YA romantic suspense and learned a lot about sea animals.

Enemy to lovers YA romance novel. Lot of set-up. The main conflict happens rather late in the book and gets resolved rather quickly. The author introduced a relevant piece of information for the conflict about mid-way and then completely forgot about it, which I don‘t like.

LibrarianRyan I felt the same way about this book. 2y

I‘ll be the first to admit the the beginning of this book was just average, especially for a Marissa Meyer book. However, the rest of this beautiful book could not have been any more perfect. The romance was swoon-worthy and the characters were adorable. I‘ve said it once and I‘ll say it again, Marissa Meyer is the queen of adorable romance! ❤️

Cute YA Rom Com Book 4 #YApril-Perfrctionist Pru is quick to judge lazy, rude, or irritating residents of her coastal town. She dreams of people getting what they deserve. Justice comes true when she wakes up with the sudden ability to cast instant karma on others. But there is one person on whom her powers backfire: Quint, her slacker lab partner, who turns out to be noble helper of sea wildlife. Hate to relationship mixed with saving animals.

I‘m glad I was too lazy to get up and turn this audiobook off.I was not impressed and don‘t like the main character. She's snotty, and doesn‘t give others chance. This book felt like it started in the middle and left a little to be desired. However, it seems to never end. When you think you have come to the perfect end, it goes on more. I did enjoy the book, but it is not one I would read/listen to over and over again.

26 of 2021. 20 hours for #fabulousfebruary. Prudence is a teenage girl who develops an interesting ability to give instant karma to others after she hits her head. She has a love/hate type of relationship with a boy named Quint that she is paired with on a school project. Due to a bad grade on their assignment, Prudence is forced to work with Quint to bring her grade up. I like Marissa Meyer but this was just meh to me. ⭐️⭐️✨

I could not stand Pru. She is selfish, self-entitled, annoying, and a hot head. I enjoyed the sea animals and Quint. I felt like the ending was rushed and just thrown in to make drama. Also, the ending was not satisfying.

This is a cute book, good for middle school and early young adult. Prudence is granted the ability to issue instant karma after waking up from a blow to the head. While it works with almost everyone, it does not with charmer, and love/hate interest, Quint. There isn't really anything new here and the plot twist is spoiled early on, leaving me just waiting for the obvious shoe to drop.

When Prudence doesn't receive the grade she wants on a group project. She is destined to do all the she can to convince her partner to redo the assignment to get a better grade.

I liked the summer vibe of this even though I'm reading this during winter. I found the annoying back and forth banter cute. I liked the idea of this story.

Prudence isn't the most likable heroine but she's pretty relatable if you're a competitive & perfectionist person, and it's really nice to watch her grow. Not only that, her romance w/Quinn is pretty cute. I also like how the book touched on socioeconomic troubles, as well as the bit of mystery that came into play at the end. My one quibble is that the instant karma magic really didn't seem necessary. It was fun & sweet just as it was!

Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer is a cute young adult romance. I loved the wildlife in Instant Karma. Pru learns about different sea animals and gets to experience them being reentered into the wild. I recommend Instant Karma to Marissa Meyer fans and fans of YA romance.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio/Feiwel & Friends for the Instant Karma audiobook.

The premise of this book is ridiculously culturally appropriative. The concept of “karma” is a complex spiritual philosophy central to Hinduism & Buddhism. As someone who was raised in a Hindu household & has read some of its texts, I can tell from the summary alone that this author does not understand the concept at all. It‘s not cute to write a “magic” book rooted in karma when you don‘t even know what karma actually is. Ugh.

yes, you read that author correctly. This rom-com is by the same author that gave us the sci-fi world of Cinder.

I love this cover. the tandem bike with the two ends pointing opposite has me so intrigued for the push me pull me action sure to be found in it's pages.
