Kiss of Steel
Kiss of Steel: A dark, fresh take on vampires and steampunk London | Bec McMaster
14 posts | 26 read | 17 to read
"darkly atmospheric and delectably sexy." Booklist, starred review Honoria Todd has more secrets than most people and she's hiding them in Whitechapel. Blade is the master of the rookeries and agrees to protect her, but at what price? Most people avoid the dreaded Whitechapel district. For Honoria Todd, it's the last safe haven as she hides from the Blue Blood aristocracy that rules London through power and fear. Blade rules the rookeries-no one dares cross him. It's been said he faced down the Echelon's army single handedly, that ever since being infected by the blood craving he's been quicker, stronger, and almost immortal. When Honoria shows up at his door, his tenuous control comes close to snapping. She's so...innocent. He doesn't see her backbone of steel-or that she could be the very salvation he's been seeking. A unique, sexy paranormal romance, Bec McMaster's London Steampunk novels will appeal to fans of Gail Carriger, Kristen Callihan's Darkest London series, and the Blud series by Delilah Dawson. RITA finalist Bec McMaster's London Steampunk series: Kiss of Steel, Book 1 Honoria's last hope is the most dangerous man in London's underworld, and she may be his last hope as well Heart of Iron, Book 2 Will would do anything to protect Lina, including fighting his love for her, but but seducing her may be the only way to save her My Lady Quicksilver, Book 3 Rosalind risks her life, and her heart, to get close to the one man who could find and free her brother. But will he? Forged by Desire, Book 4 RITA finalist, When Perry fled her thrall contract and joined the Nighthawks, she thought she would be safe, but danger is stalking her again Of Silk and Steam, Book 5 Mina has sworn revenge for her father's death, but the man she plans to destroy could be her own undoing, or the salvation of all London What readers are saying about Kiss of Steel: "a scrumptious blend of steampunk, vampires, sex, and danger" "excellent paranormal romance with a touch of steampunk" "Loved this book, the noir of steam, vampires, werewolfs, and lust find a perfect stew." Really enjoyable. Fantasy is helping me through the long days. Fantasy, mystery & romance all at once. Now up to book four in the series!

And now for something much lighter. #pricedrop!

...yes, this means murderous vampires stalking London slums, brewing class uprising, edgefolk politics, and per the reviews lots of smexytimes squeezed in. (Whatever, it's fun, dammnit.)

#weekendreads @rachelsbrittain

1. The Tale of Genji, Kiss of Steel, Of Sorrow and Such (audio)

2. Paperback, ebook, hardcover. But books are books and I'm happy to have any format

3. As far as I remember, I read all assigned books in school except Crash by Ballard which I bailed on so fast.

rachelsbrittain Thanks for joining in 📚 5y

I really enjoyed this paranormal steampunk romance novel. There was a slow burn in the beginning, where you just wanted them to get together. I didn‘t care for some of the sex scenes, they were a little over the top.

I enjoyed this book, but I‘m not sure if I‘m going to continue with this series. 🌟🌟🌟1/2 / 5.

theresidentromantic The series is pretty cute, her new one is better! 6y
Laughterhp @theresidentromantic Which one? It looks like she has a bunch of series she writes! 6y
theresidentromantic @Laughterhp the dark arts series. I have the first one. It's got more of a serious tone than these do, not by much but still. I think it's not a bad switch if you like them, but not super like them. 6y

Was so busy this weekend, I got barely any reading in! I‘m hoping my day at work won‘t be too busy, so I can start this.

I think I might take a break from some challenges and just focus on what I feel like reading.

Redwritinghood I‘ve been thinking of taking a break too. I want reading to be relaxing, but sometimes I oversubscribe on them and it gets stressful. 6y
Laughterhp @Redwritinghood Agreed. Most of the books for challenges are books on my TBR (luckily), but it‘s making it stressful that I have to read them, not that I want to! 6y

Bailedbailed

At one point in my life, I may have read and enjoyed this. But, for whatever reason, I can't get into it and I'm calling it. I don't like Blade and while I am intrigued by the world around the characters, I felt very thrown in without good explanations of some of the things that were happening. 🤷🏽‍♀️ #toomanybooks #toolittletime

Redwritinghood I've actually read it via an Amazon Kindle users free book. I finished it, but it was just OK. 7y
stargazerblue49 @Redwritinghood It usually takes a lot for me to completely bail on a book, but as my reading time has dwindled, I have had to start making executive decisions. 7y

This is my view right now. Wish y'all could hear the little stream that runs behind my apartment complex and understand how relaxing and peaceful it is after a long ER shift today. G'night, Littens!

I wish there was a better explanation between the blue-bloods and vampires; and between the Scottish loupe clans and the verwulfen. Those four groups are kind of thrown into the story without much detail.

Really enjoyed my first #steampunk romance. Great world building, explanations were layered explaining how the different societal groups were interlinked. Extra bonus was the vampiric Element. Definitely going to check out the rest of the series which increases my chances of achieving my under the covers book blog #bookchallenge #romantsy

So #steampunk isn't my genre. At all. But this was $2.99 on the nook and steampunk is a category in the pop sugar 2017 challenge so I think this one may work. I actually was able to read the whole description on Goodreads anyway without getting distracted, so it's worth a shot! #seasonsreadings2016

This was the perfect candy bar. A good romance, a creative world, danger, secrets, family and a happy ending. This is the kind of book that makes you want to stay up all night devouring it like a bag of Halloween candy. If you need me I'll be picking up wrappers and downloading her next book.
