The Son of Neptune
The Son of Neptune: Heroes of Olympus Book 2 | Rick Riordan
Percy is confused. When he awoke after his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain-fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight. Somehow Percy managed to make it to the camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he had to continually kill monsters that, annoyingly, would not stay dead. But the camp doesn't ring any bells with him.Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. When the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now, because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk. Frank is a klutz. His grandmother claims he is descended from ancient heroes, but he doesn't even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery. His big and bulky physique makes him feel like a clumsy ox, especially in front of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely-enough, even, to share the secret he holds close to his heart. Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far north as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment in the Heroes of Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all of whom are destined to play a part in the most important quest of all: the Prophecy of Seven.

Another good one from Riordan! Second in the Heroes of Olympus series we meet our old friend Percy as he embarks on a quest with two Roman demigods, each with a secret. Epic hi-jinx ensue.

Book two of the year, first one down for #JumpStart2020. Now what to choose next...

Well, I thought the tagged book would be either my last of 2019 or my first of 2020, but it was neither. I‘m still working on it (life got in the way today). Instead, last finished was Aphrodite the Beauty, in the MG Goddess Girls series (required reading from the kiddo) and first finished this year was The Spider Sapphire Mystery read-aloud with the kiddo. It wasn‘t a great start! 😬

Happy New Year! With today‘s time I got about 25 hours 33 minutes in #24B42020 - less than I‘d hoped but better than expected. I wanted to finish one more book (tagged) but I picked more than I could bite off. Plus reading 2/3 of a Nancy Drew to the kiddo today, then we watched a movie while waiting for fireworks to wind down; it all cut into my reading. Guess I‘ll finish this for my first read of 2020!

My family and I bought the whole “Heroes of Olympus“ collection when it was on sale, and now I'm finally getting around to reading it.
400 pgs

Percy is confused. He wakes up from a long sleep and didn't know anything besides his name. He somehow makes it to another camp of half-bloods. The only thing he can recall from his past is one name: Annabeth.

In this one we catch back up with Percy, who meets up with some new friends. I liked the tension created by Percy‘s lost memories.

I may have accidentally bought the last four books in this series today while I was out running errands...and two Lori Foster romances, one of which is the last in the series I‘m currently reading...and ordered the third and fourth books in Devon Monk‘s Allie Beckstrom series...and preordered the next Disney Princess Beginnings book for the kiddo.

I was out to pick up a prescription and look for a new pair of shoes...

I think I got this! Say hello to the Karpoi. They‘re grain spirits - children of the original Greek gods, Tartarus and Gaea. I know this thanks to Percy Jackson rather than that Ancient History paper I took in university 😂😂😂 Anyway they‘re one of PJs enemies. Great scene in this book where the heroes are sitting recovering in a field and the wheat grabs one of them and drags them away! (Art is from the graphic novel)

Centique PS I‘ve now read seven of these books aloud to my kid and have gained a healthy respect for Rick Riordan. They‘re action packed with fully formed characters, girls kick butt and save the world frequently and there‘s good diversity in the later novels. 12mo
TheKidUpstairs Great pick! I've never read any Riordan myself, but from what I've heard he really knows his mythologies! 12mo

I own zero books with snow on the cover, apparently I hate the cold so much I don't even want a representation of it. But this series is fabulous on audio.

If you have read the previous Percy Jackson then you know what to expect. I gave it 4 stars since I'm still a bit confused with Greek and Roman thing but overall a good story in itself. I do miss Annabeth and Grover though.

This post is a shout out to my sister (who's not on Litsy, but) who saw my book sleeve collection and said, "I can make that" and got out her sewing machine and nerdy fabric and fleece stash and bought some foam and started sewing.

This is her "Zelda prototype" that I snuck into my bag. ?She wanted to get it right before she busted out the Beauty and the Beast fabric. ?

I didn‘t realized how much I missed Percy until I read this book. The sassiness of that boy gives me life. This was leaps and bounds better than the first installment of the series.

5 Stars

It was great to see Percy again and I loved the addition of Frank and Hazel as characters too. Loving the way Rick weaves mythological events into our times and world. Makes mythology enjoyable and easier to remember. Can't wait to see how the series goes from here too.

At last we know what happened to Percy! This crossover from Rick Riordan is incredible. Can't believe I waited so long to try this series.

Momma_Jo Same!!!! Loved the original Percy Jackson series and I even found that one late too!!! Better to enjoy it late then never to have enjoyed it at all. 8mo

You know that feeling when the library sends you an email to let you know the ebook you had on hold is in and has automatically been checked out to you? Yeah, I'm totally basking in that feeling. 😍

I'm reading this series to my daughter; it's a second read for me. The first time I read Lost Hero and the rest, I had not yet read Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I wanted to know if the new series could be read without the background of the first series. In my opinion, yes it can but it is more fun reading with the background of Percy's first adventures.

My daughter and I are both loving the revisit with Nico.
