I‘d contradict a saying that a good book is one you couldn‘t put down. There are lots of great books I enjoyed and still took me days or weeks to finish.

But this isn‘t one of them.

Finished in one sitting. Exactly my kind of pleasure reading. It has a vibe very much like Uprooted. You get the idea.

Thanks @TheLondonBookworm a bunch for introducing me to this! 😘🙌🏼

This is a Christmas present from @TheLondonBookworm years ago. Sorry it took me so long to start. 😅

But I‘m not able to stop! It‘s sooooooo good. A retelling of Arabian Nights by an American-Korean author. My type exactly. Halfway through and I‘ve just clicked the pay button on Bookdepository for its sequel. Look what you‘ve done to me Laura! 😂

ju.ca.no Oh good to hear! I have also received this as a gift last year and hope to get to it soon! (Those endless TBR Piles🙄) 1w
pppooraikul @ju.ca.no Fingers crossed for you! Those piles are totally out of control 😂 1w

Recent #libraryhaul I‘m really interested in reading the tagged book. Klaus is a dark re- telling of the story of Santa Claus. The 2 Prince books are awesome. Slayer is set in the Buffy universe. Heart talk is heart warming. I don‘t want to be crazy is about anxiety. Hopefully I can get through them in these lovely awesome books during these glorious 2 weeks that I don‘t have doctor‘s appointments, lol. Here‘s #Ozzie checking out the books, lol 😻

I understand that this was cheesy. But God, did I love it! The hate to love romance was so perfect, even though I thought I would hate that aspect of the story at the beginning. Sharzard's stories gave the setting such a feeling of fantasy. I loved the magic carpet element. And Despina, Jalal, and Khalid were all fantastic characters.

Slight trigger warning for animal deaths.

I can't wait to get my hands on the second one after that ending!

rjsthumbelina I forgot to tag this one for the #wintergames! This definitely counts as a #TBRread, since it's been on my bucket list for 2 years! @Clwojick @StayCurious @rather_be_reading 2mo

My ambitious #weeklyforecast for the week. The 2 on the left are ebook library loans, 2 in the middle are physical reads, and the 2 on the right are current audiobooks. At the very least, I'm hoping to finish Hunter and The Wrath and the Dawn this week 😊 Almost done with Hunter, and it has been amazing so far! The Wrath and the Dawn is so good so far, too! Very different teen fantasies

Well, that was disappointing, especially after I‘d heard such great things about this book. I found the storyline to be underdeveloped and the characters too lightly drawn. A shame as this retelling had tons of potential. I‘ll be skipping book two. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was sadly disappointed with this book. I loved the idea and was looking forward to it. The descriptive writing was beautiful but the plot was really weak. The story just didn‘t flow well at all. It was a bit choppy and sometimes didn‘t make any sense. I found it a little frustrating.

I really enjoyed this book! The setting, the characters and the plot all caught my attention for good reasons. I'm finally out of my reading slump, and I have this to thank for it. Normally I'm not a romance person, nor do I enjoy love triangles, but I didn't mind too much in this case. I'm very excited to read the sequel!

I absolutely loved this book! I‘ll admit that I felt it was a little slow in the beginning but I powered through and this is easily one of my favorites. The characters, setting and plot was just fantastic and the story was paced very well. I‘ve got the second book for this series sitting on my bookshelf and I can‘t wait to devour it. 🙂

Retelling of the Arabian Nights.

Not what I expected, but an enjoyable read. I wish there were more tales: they‘re perfect. The writing is usually good, BUT the repetition of a character‘s name in the space of a few sentences is sometimes ridiculous. The end is good - I look forward to reading the sequel.

Wow, this book was so good. I didn‘t really know what to expect when I was reading, as I didn‘t know the original tales. I don‘t think it matters if you know them or not, this is a fantastic, conflicting, emotional deep love story. I have to pick up the next book!

I really liked the courtship aspect of the book. Watching Khalid and Shazi fall in love while trying to deny their feelings was really interesting. The book alternates their story with the story of Tariq, Shazi‘s old boyfriend who is out to rescue her and bring down Khalid. I could have done without so much political intrigue. The romance and the look at life in the palace is enough for me.

Love this cover 😍

I love 1,001 Nights. I do not love YA love triangles, which made this retelling hard to stomach. The imagery was beautiful, the characters flat. However, the last part of the book was just good enough that I think I‘ll read the sequel.

I hope the constant eye flicking and flickering every other page is not present in the next one.🙄

AlaMich The eye-flicking!! 😆 I read a book once—which shall remain nameless—in which the author repeatedly described how people were blinking. “She blinked slowly, he blinked rapidly.” Over and over. It was the worst. 13mo

20 pages left in Co-Active Coaching
And I would like to at least start my #Booked2019 #fairytaleretelling pick by the end of the day.

I feel like I have a sinus infection brewing, and no other plans. Can I do it? 📚 ☕️

MarriedtoMrT Do you like Co-active Coaching? Our organization is actively moving to a coaching development model and it‘s something I personally believe in and want to do but could use some good guidelines and tips to help me mentally make a shift. 13mo
4thhouseontheleft @MarriedtoMrT I think it would be a great book to help with those purposes! It contains a lot of examples and advice for using coaching in a business or organizational setting, as long as you get the most recent 4th edition. I‘m going for life coaching certification, and it is one of my assigned books. So far, it has been the most useful one. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ 13mo

I 💜 fairy tale retellings, and have quite a few on my shelves waiting to be read, so this is a #Booked2019 prompt I could fill a few times over! So many to choose from!

Here are some of my recommendations, which cover retellings of Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Snow White, Baba Yaga, Alice in Wonderland, and 1,001 Nights. I plan on reading the tagged book.

Which #fairytaleretelling do you recommend?

BarbaraBB @saresmoore Thanks, that‘s good to know, ‘cause it seems a weird read! 1y
4thhouseontheleft @BarbaraTheBibliophage I took Maya and a friend to see it when she had off on Veteran‘s Day. It‘s more a retelling than a remake of the ballet, but I liked it! 1y
