I love it when Romance Book Club assigns a book that I would never pick up on my own, and I end up loving it 😁
Turns out I don't mind a space opera with a hot bad boy love interest.

3 ⭐ I expected this book to be a sci-fi adventure, which it was. I was not expecting this book to be a love story. Overall, I liked and enjoyed this book. There were some things that were annoying. The romance in this novel was fine however, it felt like an afterthought. Like an editor said shove in romance and the author did so. Then finding out that this book series, each book is about somebody different the way romance books are and not a
Hey @theAromaofBooks - I got the book on Saturday. I am starting it today.

Time for another round of #LMPBC !!! I'm in a sci-fi/adventure group and thinking about reading the tagged book for it. Anyone else want to join?? Check out @suvata 's account for the link!!
@KateReadsYA - your book sounded so interesting, I couldn't resist!! 😂
#TBRPile 📚 “The steel toe of my boot slammed into the blond merc‘s knee with a satisfying crunch.”
This book was 3/5ths romance & 2/5ths space stuff — not that I was complaining, since I was here for the romance anyway. The dance between the MC & her love interest were pretty predictable, but their chemistry was enjoyable. The main plot itself was also intriguing, with a lot of political twists especially towards the end. but it flagged in the middle, & the writing over all was bogged down by lots of technical writing. ★★★½.
This was my first real introduction to sci-fi romance and I had a blast reading this trilogy. My only complaint would be that I think I would have preferred following the romance in the original book throughout the whole trilogy but I enjoyed the others none the less.

I haven't been around litsy much lately, but I do have a new #BookSpin list for April. My schedule is shaping up to be a bit erratic, so I'm sticking to digital books that I own. Thanks, @TheAromaofBooks!
One of my Valentine's Day gifts was that my in-laws took both kids for a sleepover tonight and I have the house all to my self - I'm using the time to finish a few books I've been reading for weeks.
This one was super fun! I'll definitely continue the series.
#pricedrop This one had a glowing review from SBTB, but the grassroots reviews are middling and I increasingly loathe first-person narrative. Maybe I'll try reading the sample.

According to my timer, I've clocked almost 8 hours of reading time today... but with the constant interruptions of toddlers I'm sure my actual time is much less. I made a good start on both of these, which I am enjoying quite a bit. I also a decent number childrens books throughout the day #24in48 #readathon
I started my #24in48 #readathon timer last night and got a couple hours in. This morning I have a sick, grumpy kiddo, so we've mostly been reading his pokemon book while his sister covers us in stuffed animals 🤷♀️
Yay!! @ravenlee thank you so much for this lovely #Bestof2020Swap !!! Everything is fantastic. I've never even heard of the tagged book but the premise sounds fantastic & the other two have been on my TBR so I am excited about them as well. And this scarf is gorgeous!!! Hope you have a lovely 2021 & thank you for sharing some of the good stuff from 2020 with me!!
Thank you for hosting @candority - such a wonderful idea!!

I love this series so much and I‘m sorry to see it end. Cat and Alex were an amazing couple who work together to stop a war.
Congrats (in advance) on your milestones, @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks . I thought I already followed you! 😆
Tagged book was my favorite read of 2019 (Well Met was my runner-up)
Chaos Reigning by the same author, the conclusion to the trilogy, is my most anticipated release of 2020.
Thanks for the chance to enter your #5N5giveaway
So, my MO is that I usually post a quote with a review. I was so swept up in this story that I didn‘t even think to snag a quote along the lines.
This book was so fun and exactly what I needed. I loved it. I am always here for a fun space opera and one that‘s a little steamy as well always works for me. The main character, Ada, was right up my alley. Honestly, I felt like I was reading about a different version of me half the time. I LOVED IT!!!
I had to stay up last night to finish this book because it was going to return to the library today! Luckily it was one of those books that had 2 chapters for the next book at the end 😂 (the one time I was happy to see that!)
I think this is my first SciFi romance novel. It won‘t be my last either. I definitely plan to read the rest of the books in this series. I loved Ada and Loch. So badass and so willing to fight for each other.
Here‘s my #BookReport - I finished 3 of the books I wanted to this week.
I officially bailed on the audio of A Blade So Black
And I‘m still reading the tagged book on ebook.
An 11 and 1/2 hour flight is no problem when you have the right kind of book with you & this one was perfect. Having rejected an arranged marriage, Ada is on the run, one step ahead of her jilted fiancé & the various bands of mercenaries eager to collect on the big reward offered for her safe return. Captured, she needs the help of the most wanted/dangerous man in the galaxy to escape...and you can guess what happens from there. A fun read.
Outstanding. I've been on a SciFi kick lately, and this romance between a renegade heiress and a most-wanted fugitive was a delight. The hero and heroine learn to trust each other as they plot to take down their shared enemies. Family (found and biological) ties are strong and the supporting characters are well developed. I am looking forward to the next installment!
3.5*.
Overall, this is a great summery blockbuster set in space!
I fell in love with Ada and her relationship with her siblings, namely Bianca. I also loved Veronica and Rhys - strong, supporting friends, the sci-fi setting, and the many thrilling action-packed scenes.
Ava and Loch are 2 very appealing characters on their own, but they do not work well as a couple. The entire possessiveness, from both of them towards each other, is a tad cringy.
This looks like an interesting #kindledeal

Currently rereading my favorite book of the year. Counts for the SRP bingo debut novel and separate SRP challenge of book that I‘ve read before. And it‘s awesome, to boot.
With an evening gig all week a reread is about my speed. What are you reading today?
Think I stayed up 'till 3 am on my initial reading session, good thing it was the weekend. 😖 The ebook went on sale not long after I had finished, so I also snapped that up as my 'keeper' copy.
If you picked it up on sale, IMO worth bumping up on your TBR list.

Frankly, I was disappointed. Conspiracy of Whispers by Ada Harper is a much better read if you're looking for Science Fiction Romance.
Anyway, find out why I was disappointed here...

This is Amazon's Deal of the Day. It's a sci-fi romance that is heavier on the sci-fi part. I really enjoyed it, but wouldn't have minded more romance.
I‘m still basking in the afterglow of this terrific book. So is my reading buddy. This is her, “Whaddya mean it‘s over?” look.
Home run! This romantic space adventure is so my catnip. I can barely express how much I loved the plot and characters. Well written by an author with a computer background. Looking forward to the sequel.
I really enjoyed this sci-fi romance! Strangely enough I read it pretty much right after Nightchaser (strange because sci-fi romance is not a big sub-genre), and I have to say I enjoyed it more.
There's running from bounty hunters, politics, romance, and actual attempts at communication between the romantic leads😀 All of this on spaceships of course!
4 to 4.5🚀
#romantsy
Listed as Science Fiction/Space Opera, this reads more like #romantsy!
Mind you, I'm not complaining, but hardcore SFF readers might as it doesn't really offer any new in terms of ideas or technology. Medical nanobots, Smart clothing, FTL transport... we've seen these things before. The appeal of the story lies pretty much in the strong female protag, Ada and, her chemistry with Loch.
Currently reading. Seems interesting so far.
Edit: 3 solid stars. Fast paced story and likeable characters- what‘s to want more.
This was so much fun.
Lady Ada has been on the run from her father for 2 years, refusing to marry a man she despises for the good of politics. When she‘s finally captured by mercs she‘s thrown in a cell with the most wanted criminal in the universe. Can they join forces to both get what they need?
Non-stop space action, a bit steamy and a nod to Whedon‘s Firefly, I‘m looking forward to the second book in Oct. 2019.
My best reading month in years! 18 finished, including graphic novels, YA, non-fiction, and space opera. Best read of a really good month is the tagged book, followed closely by Anne Bishop‘s Lake Silence. 1 DNF of a graphic novel, and 4565 pages! That‘s over 700 more than last month.
Assuming I won‘t finish my current read this month, as I‘m 150 pages out.
Absolutely worth the wait. And the next one is due out this fall!
Ada has been on the run from her powerful family for years. When she is captured in thrown into a cell with the most wanted man in the universe, she must decide how far she can trust him. As she plots her escape she discovers a rival family‘s terrible secret and must choose how to handle a pending war.
Yay for finding my name (spelled correctly!) in this book; boo for it being one of the villains.
During yesterday‘s lap of #24B4Monday I got more than halfway through this awesome book, and plan to finish it today. I doubt I‘ll make my goal of 16 hours and change, but it‘s been good reading time regardless!
@Andrew65 @TheReadingMermaid
Yesterday‘s #bookmail had me so excited! I have been waiting FOREVER for this book. Now I just need to wade through my ambitious library stack...and the Patricia Briggs book that came out the week before this one...
A fun space adventure/#romantsy with a strong and awesome heroine, Ada. Ada has amazing friends and family, a good heart and a wonderful sense of self. Loch is a sensitive super-soldier/criminal who helps Ada escape when she‘s captured by mercenaries. Really great world building and supporting characters. 💕💕
I just got off work (#saturdaylibrarian), so it's the start to my weekend. Plans include reading this science fiction ARC.
I am SOOOO impatient for this book! I‘ve been waiting forever and it‘s getting so close! Curse Ilona Andrews for getting me hooked on the tidbits when it was over a year out from publication.
