I‘ve read some pretty great Christie books lately, but this one disappointed me when I read it during the #24in48 readathon. It has all the makings of a great mystery: a poisoned dart, set on an airplane, the murder of a money lender who blackmails clients, all right under Poirot‘s nose. Despite all that, I didn‘t care enough to be interested in who did it. Also, there‘s casual racism in all Christie‘s novels, but this one was especially gross.

All cozied up with both kitties and ready to start #24in48 with Agatha.

While I love Poirot in general, this wasn‘t my favorite book. Too many totally irrelevant characters that I didn‘t see the point of. I gave it a pick mainly because it‘s Poirot and I didn‘t guess the murderer.

A great story with some awesome cover art. Written in 1935, there are the sadly to be expected incidents or times when characters express prejudice, racism, and sexism. That may be par for the course from books written in certain eras, but still gross to encounter.

Other than what I mentioned above, I liked this story. Poirot is an arrogant, bizarre little old man, but I do like to have a visit with him every now and then.

Leniverse I remember they had this cover in a Doctor Who episode about Agatha Christie‘s missing week. I had to google it to check they hadn‘t made it up. 😂 That cover is just mad! 9mo
Libby1 @Leniverse - isn‘t it great? I really liked that Doctor Who episode, although I hadn‘t read much Christie at that time. I‘ve always wanted to read this one, and couldn‘t believe my luck when I found this for 50 pence in a charity shop! 9mo
Leniverse That's an amazing find! 9mo

Libby1 @tpixie , @JennyM , @Rachbb3 , @QuietlyLaura - Poirot is such a delightfully arrogant little man. I like to see him taken down a peg or two! Christie has a wonderful sense of humour. 9mo

...bit too sensational to be true. I mean, blowpipes and poisoned arrows on an aeroplane - well, it insults one's intelligence.

That my friend, is a very profound remark, said Poirot.

A wonderful old school Agatha Christie. Points deducted for casual racism as usual, unfortunately (you‘d think there‘d be one book where it didn‘t come up??) but plot-wise exactly what I wanted. An ingenious but not TOO ridiculous Poirot plot where it isn‘t obvious but there are enough clues that you feel like you could have got it if you‘d taken notes or something. In my defense, I had it narrowed down to 2 people and it was one of them...

ElenaBaer I always feel like that!!! I‘ve been reading a lot of her books this summer and I end going oh yeah now I see it. Duh. 10mo

Embarking on my last week in my current job and almost all of my books have been moved out already so just me and my kindle for now! I wanted something light as it‘s a hugely busy week for me - four graduation ceremonies, my partner back from Canada and staying with me, lots of friends to say goodbye to before I move. The only person I was gonna pick to get me through this week was Agatha Christie! I love Poirot and I‘ve never read this one

BarbaraBB Good luck with ending things and moving on to the next 🍀 10mo

Done and done. I finished my reread of Death in the Clouds in one sitting and despite having read it before, I still guessed the killer wrong?! 🤷🏼‍♀️😹 I should probably focus on Hardy now but honestly, I haven‘t touched it in a few days. I‘m really enjoying it so I‘m not sure what my problem is. Once the little one is at nursery and I‘ll try and get to it. #bookaddict #booklover #bookblog #bookish #bookworm #bookstamums #agathachristie

I‘m craving my queen - Agatha Christie, so I‘m rereading a favourite by her. Death in the Clouds is such a good story and it‘s always been one of my favourite AC books (alongside Death on the Nile), though I‘m yet to read an AC I didn‘t love. Anyway, onward. #agathachristie #dameagathachristie #bookaddict #booklover #bookworm

#TuneIntoNovember #day1 #BigJetPlane Dame Agatha went one better than a locked room mystery with this novel. Poirot is high in the air, on a flight from Paris to London when a passenger is found dead in their seat, the apparent victim of a wasp sting. But when a poison dart is found on the body, and the woman turns out to be a high profile money lender with clients on the plane, things get complicated. Not one of her best & a bit controversial too.

Enjoyable mystery. Again, I suspected the murderer early on, but couldn't figure out how they could possibly have done it. Agatha Christie always tricks me.

I took a little break from more serious reading and read an Agatha Christie for the first time in years. This one in particular I had only read once, in high school. I found it a delightful look at the past - the plane with a whole 21 passengers, the politically incorrect references to class and "native tribes", the fashions and beauty standards. Also had a chuckle at the Dame getting the action of her chosen snake venom completely wrong ?

Sneaking in a quick pic before I actually settle down for dinner with the kids. Tonight it's stirfried noodles with beef and a mix of vegetables (spinach, chard and kale) and some eggs on top for extra colour and protein. And it's been so long since I last read an Agatha Christie! I just started reading this today and am about 70% done already!

Rereading a bunch of Agatha Christies I was given. Death in the clouds is a M.Hercule Poirot story, about a death on a plane, a wasp and a blowpipe. Very entertaining read, have loved her books since I first read Sparkling Cyanide when I was 11. Here's to those little grey cells!
