I need an audiobook recommendation. I like fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, & historical. No romance themes, please.

Renee27 The Priory of the Orange Tree would be a good read. There is a bit of love story but not like hard core romantic books. Another suggestion would be 'Little Fires Everywhere' 5mo
Alockey @renee27 thanks! 5mo

I recently had to downsize my belongings and move from a house to an apartment. These were on the top of my kitchen/cookbooks to bring with me. They are part life-narrative/ memoir and instructional. They contain all manner of recipes in them, from food to home made cleaners and personal hygiene products. I‘m looking forward to what she brings next.

Blueberry This is on sale today for 1.99 I saw in the author's newsletter. Wasn't sure if I should get it but you gave it a good recommendation so maybe I will. 6mo

I enjoyed this book. I haven‘t ever watched the shows with Doctor 4 though, so I couldn‘t picture him very well.

These are the physical books I‘m reading. I‘m also listening to Becoming by Michelle Obama and Doctor Who: Scratchman by Tom Baker and reading the ebook tagged in the picture. #eclecticreader

A great option from the audible originals. To be honest, this is the first one that I enjoyed.

I didn‘t dig this one. Too many inconsistencies within the first few minutes of my listen.

Finally! Something with a good narrator that catches my attention right away!

I just started listening to this book. I‘ve noticed a few things that sort of irritate me. It supposedly takes place in France, the “witches” are supposedly Romani. They all have French names and their dialogue is peppered with French phrases but only one character speaks French fluently enough to speak to the “witch hunter priest” and they supposedly speak English amongst themselves. So far the storyline & characters are convoluted.

This podcast is full of classic audiobooks. You can also join and support it and get access to more. BJ Harrison is my favorite narrator for classics.

I listened to this book, narrated by Phil Gigante. He is a horrible narrator. The lawyer sounded like a doofus beach bum. All of the women sounded like ditzes and the other men just sounded like douchebags.

The story was predictable and while the storyline was good, it was too similar to the one in Roberts‘ Cousins O‘Dwyer trilogy. Its as if she didn‘t get the storyline right in this one so she perfected it in the latter.

BlameJennyJane Futzes and douchebags are a real turnoff for me too! And narrators make all the difference. There are stories out there that may be great and I‘ll never know because they were so annoying I couldn‘t stick around. 6mo

I just got so tired of the characters, the crappy romance, and the not-quite-there storyline that I quit listening. I‘m grateful for audible‘s return option.

Just not a very good storyline. Kind of a Charmed tv show inspired book. Girl is left a manor and finds a magic book in the attic. Things start coming after her. The main character supposedly grew up with magic, but she‘s still incredibly idiotic about it. She lacks common sense and gets herself into a lot of dumb situations. I have no use for books about shallow people.

Mehso-so

I gave this a so-so because the end wasn‘t satisfying. There wasn‘t really a resolution. The book was about the women and their lives, the courage they showed and what brought them to that place. The end was like, “well, who mourns streets when they die?” I understand that part of this book was to see the underlying issues, it could even be about gentrification in the end, but it could‘ve been handled better.

Becoming | Michelle Obama

It is so appropriate that I am listening to this book at this stage in my life. It reminds me that in the grand scheme of things, I‘ve had an easy life. It also encourages me to hear about people who have overcome obstacles and the wisdom they have to offer. 💖
