My sister texted me very upset this morning because she is only discovering Harry Potter now and she read how Dumbledore dies and now this. RIP to Michael Gambon

I remember just after I finished re-reading A Monster Calls, I saw a missed-call from my sister and I called her,she told me that my grandfather died, after I hung up I saw that the call was between 12:00 and 12:14.The Monster visits at 12:07

Anybody else has weird literary coincidences?

I started my reread of this series almost a month ago (amongst all my other ongoing books) in preparation for this upcoming themed trivia night. That being said, I have less than a week to read the last 2 books in the series. Will I finish on time?! It is goning to be a close one lol. 😬

I thought I would share how cute my Harry Potter Sticker theme came out! I love this color on my Kindle!

This book is written in third person limited perspective. This is established because Harry is referred to as “he, his” throughout the novel but what goes on in his head is not unknown, as the reader can see his thoughts and feelings unlike with the other characters. The entire book is based around Harry‘s perspective.

In this book, Harry is given more responsibility and starts to act more like an adult than a child. This one is really interesting to re-read knowing the major twists at the end. I remember reading this book at my great grandma's house, completely absorbed and ignoring everyone. It's a shame you can't erase your memory of books and read them again fresh. I remember this one being really suspenseful. Still very compelling even though I know the end

I've read these books countless times and they hit progressively deeper. At the end of book 6, my heart both longs and aches for the wizarding world. This time through the series, I'm appreciating the complexity, beauty, and value of the characters' relationships to each other.

This was a treat to read as I haven‘t read it in probably 15 years. I am rereading the whole series which I started when I was a kid and then had to wait years for each new book to come out. This go round I‘ve been able to read without breaks and it‘s nice to go through the story continually. I enjoyed this one. I still stand my the third book being my favorite in the series but this was a nice reread treat.

As the penultimate book of the series, this was always about setting the pieces for the grand finale. There is a lot I love nevertheless- Slughorn, the increasing sexual tension (although a Weasley twin would have been a better match for Hermione), the horcrux and Dumbledore‘s true affection for Harry. Not sure how Beatrix will cope with the final instalment - so many deaths! She cried and cried at the end of this.

I still love these books, despite Rowling‘s ickiness and the books themselves being problematic in so many ways. I‘m so happy to share this world with my kiddo. We finished this morning and hope to watch the movie later this week, then it‘s on to the end. There will be tears.

Oh the palpable excitement I experienced as I impatiently waited for each of these books to come out! Reading them again as an adult, I don't have that same "feeling;" in fact I find more to criticize, such as, how many times and different ways can she tell us that Poor Slughorn was portly?! ?. "His belly proceeded him" "he lingered at the Great Hall during meal times" we get it the man was FAT

JFC Ron is such a slut shaming asshole midway through this book (to Hermione and his sister). That fight with Ginny! Ron is horrible but so is she. Ginny is so mean, poking right into Ron's insecurities. Can you imagine movie Ginny yelling at Ron and shoving it in his face that everyone around him has kissed someone except him? Ouch. Not that he didn't deserve it. Also, where did he learn to slut shame but from his mom, who does it to Fleur?

Zoe-h Ron had bugged me since that fight he had with Harry in Goblet of Fire. Definitely my least favorite of the three. 2y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @Zoe-h tbh I have a lot of affection for Ron but this is by far his lowest point, him at his most insecure and worst! 2y

I‘ll be honest, I never really enjoyed this movie as much as the others, but after reading the book… WOW! This book has by far been the most intriguing and kept me hooked the entire way through. Getting more insight into Voldemort‘s past was my favorite thing about the book. This book had me questioning more about the characters and their motives, especially Snapes. I definitely need to go watch the movie again. I loved this book!
