TheEllieMo I was surprised to find that it appears to be a bit of a Marmite book - people either love it or hate it. Everyone I know IRL who has read it absolutely loved it 6mo

We Should All Be Feminists | Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
post image
Pickpick

This is such a beautiful book. A very short book which is a must read for everyone! Adichie has perfectly explained what feminism actually means and how inspite of it being a 21st century, women are still not treated as an equal to men. We all face what Adichie faced in life, whether people are aware of it or not, there are times when we are treated differently! Do read this amazing book!!! 4/5

This book was perfection!! A brilliant thriller that I'd recommend to anyone! There was a steady pace throughout and i was like this is a 4 star read and then boom!!! That climax! The climax earned the extra star! Yet to watch the movie, but the book is amazing! 5/5 . Keigo Higashino is going to be my autobuy author!

I'm debating if it's a pick or a so-so! The first half didnt excite me at all. I was waiting to find out the killer and ne done with the book. But i definitely liked how it ended! It wasn't a nail biting suspense but it was pretty good! Not my favourite Christie book!

Mehso-so

Super disappointed with this book. I had started reading it last year and then didn't want to continue because the story was so weird, it didn't make any sense. And I actually love weird stories and I'm not new to Japanese literature(if you are a fan of Jap lit you'll definitely know that most of the books have a weird( but good and interesting storyline).
The prose is well written. But I can't say the same about the plot. Not recommending.

My January challenge pick for #theunreadshelfproject2019 . This has been on my shelf since the longest time and feel like tackling it first. Not a fan of non fiction now but I had bought this when I didn't bother about genres much.

lauren.lerner I‘ve never seen that cover before. But then again, I don‘t think I realized this book was a thing beyond when it was first published 27 yrs ago. Interested to hear what you think of it! 11mo
swatreads @lauren.lerner Yeah I've seen the white cover but I like this one better. Wow 27 years? That long? I had no idea about that. Read a few pages and finding it interesting. Relatable:P will review once I'm done:):) 11mo

This is a true story about a girl who suffered from leukaemia due to the aftereffects of the radiation caused by the atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima. According to a Japanese legend, if a sick person folds one thousand paper cranes, the Gods will grant him/her a wish and make the person healthy again. And that's why Sadako sets to fold a thousand paper cranes
It's a sad story but it depicts the courage of a young girl who smiled despite her pain.💗

Creepy, disturbing yet interesting. I liked the storyline and the pace. But especially how it ended. It's a weird story of an affair between a 17 year old girl and a mysterious 67 year old Russian translator. The things he makes her do are pretty disturbing although she seems to like them. And then she meets another person who is important to the translator and things take a turn. If you like weird stories do read this one! 3.5/4

In The Miso Soup | Ryu Murakami

Mehso-so

This is my first Ryu Murakami and it's one of the creepiest books I've read. And I mean creepy at all levels! There are things you'd never imagine. And I like creepy & weird stories. But although the first 2 parts were interesting I thought it fell flat later. I was expecting something major to happen but the book ended and I'm like "That's it??" And not just the end, the entire 3rd part was boring. More like a good book gone wrong. Average read.

This is a cute, sweet novella about a boy who goes to the convenience store just to look at the big eyed woman who works behind the sandwich counter. He finds herself fascinating or to be specific "her eyes fascinating". It's simple and cutesy and a very refreshing read. Perfect to read while commuting. Also liked how it's narrated in the perspective of a fourth grader.

Great debut! Fast paced and suspenseful. The plot was good and I liked the characters. However halfway around it became a little repetitive and I was waiting for a twist or something that would wow me! The ending was predictable according to me. That being said I did enjoy the book. And it‘s one of the few books I didn‘t want to put down!

I read this as a readalong with a few friends and absolutely loved it. It kept me hooked throughout and I couldn't wait to find out what happens next. It is narrated by death (I know! Bizarre!!!!) The narration is probably the best thing about this book. Great plot and amazing characters. I'll never forget Liesel, Max, Hans and Rudy and Rosa. It's a bit of a chunkster but worth the time and since the pace is great you won't find it a struggle. 5/5
