Spirits, Stilettos, and a Silver Bustier
Spirits, Stilettos, and a Silver Bustier: Pyper Rayne Series, Book 1 | Deanna Chase
4 posts | 3 read | 4 to read
From New York Times bestselling author Deanna Chase, the first book in the Pyper Rayne series (a spin-off of the Jade Calhoun Series). All Pyper Rayne—medium and coffee shop owner—wanted was the perfect vintage dress. What she got was a dead shop owner and a sexy ghost who’s suddenly everywhere—at her shop, in her car, and even lounging in her bedroom. But he’s not just any ghost. He’s a witch and able to appear in solid form…sometimes. If only he'd stop disappearing on her. And Pyper needs his help. When she becomes target numero uno and the prime suspect in the shop owner’s death, it appears her ghost holds the key to solving the murder. In between stolen kisses, Pyper will need to get to the bottom of all of his secrets if she wants to stay alive and out of jail…and maybe finally get that date he keeps promising her. Cozy mysteries, mystery, ghosts, witches, paranormal romance, cozy mystery, woman sleuths, paranormal mystery, New Orleans fiction, medium, murder mystery

My 1st finished book for July was Spirits, Stilettos and a Silver Bustier by Deanna Chase. I finally got around to starting this spin-off series from her Jade Calhoun series. It was a good start to the series but i think the next ones will be better. The series focuses on Jade's friend Pyper Rayne. She owns a coffee shop and is also a medium.

(continued in comment)

RedxoHearts So she often has ghosts reach out but this time it gets her in a bit of a dangerous situation as well as on the police radar for the murder of a local shop owner. There is also romance on the horizon for Pyper even if it's not in the most traditional sense. 4d

Between a pick and a so so. The narration is good and the story kept me engaged. However, there‘s a decidedly anti law enforcement theme, the main ghost Julius is a touch whiney, and the heroine can be indecisive at times. Overall it was good but I wouldn‘t read more unless they were free.

I got this in my #EverAfterBox for October. I don‘t usually read #paranormal romance and the title wasn‘t calling me but I decided to give it a chance. And I loved it!! The magic, witches and ghost are believable within the story. The romance and friendships are so heartfelt. It‘s steamy but not sex. I‘m ready to read more in the series! #readwomen #romantsy
