A prequel set in the ?dark and sensual world?( 11th Hour) of the national bestselling "Black Jewels Trilogy." Jared is a Red-Jeweled Warlord bound as a pleasure slave by the Ring of Obedience. After suffering nine years of torment as a slave, he murdered his owner and escaped?only to be caught and sold into slavery once again. I‘m a huge fan of Anne Bishop‘s Dark Jewels Trilogy, so I was excited to delve into more stories from her dark universe. This one is a prequel that for me felt more like Bishop writing fan-fiction for her own books. The sexy bits fell very flat and felt slapped in. There were a few laugh out loud moments and her writing style makes it easy to keep the pages turning. I‘m hoping the other books expanding the series are better.

EclecticBookLover It's been awhile since I've read thos one, but I was so happy to have more Black Jewels. It's good to read this one before the Shalador books if you haven't read them yet. 2y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm @EclecticBookLover I‘ve only read this and the original trilogy so far. I‘m trying to read them in proper order. 2y

1) kindness
2) selfishness
3) she knows who she is and where the bodies are hidden so I don‘t dare say her name

I love this book; however, there is a small consistency problem if you read the trilogy first. I don‘t think it is really noticeable, but I tend to see little details like that. I suggest you read the original Trilogy before reading this book. It just makes more sense when you already know the world. Awesome read!
