Giving up on my library hold ever coming in and found the #BOTMbuddyread on sale at Amazon. Hurray! Book group here on Litsy for the first part tomorrow if anyone else wants to jump aboard this bus (questions courtesy of hosts @TheBookHippie and @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks). It's a fast, light read!

TheBookHippie It‘s nice and light! 1w
Karisa @TheBookHippie Just saw there were already several posts about this deal. Mark me #clueless. 🤦‍♀️🤣 1w
TheBookHippie @Karisa my everyday life 🤣🤣 no worries ❤️📖 7d

#marchintooz #historydoesntrepeat

My current bedtime read with the 7 year old. History doesn‘t repeat or does it? How else can you explain finding a caveman living in the local rubbish dump? Both my kids and I have loved this old classic - I‘m guessing it looks familiar to the UK Littens but very strange to the US ones!

RachelO SOOOO familiar! We must have read it in school several times over - I remember the bottom left and top copies. And possibly a tv series. 2y
Cinfhen Yup! #clueless 🙋‍♀️🤷‍♀️ 2y
Libby1 This book is so good. I grew up in the US so wasn‘t familiar with it, but now that I live in the UK I wanted to acquaint myself with British classics. Enjoy! 2y

KarenUK I loved this when I was little 👍💕 2y
kathedron I loved that book! I had the one with the yellow cover. ❤ 2y
xicanti I feel like I read this when I was a small Canadian child, but all I remember is the title. 2y
Centique @xicanti the bit that stuck in my head was building a chimney for the shack out of tin cans and a window out of ham jars. Does that ring any bells? 2y
Centique @Cinfhen I always find that a bit funny. 😋In NZ (and prob Oz) we got most of the UK popular culture and a fair chunk of US stuff growing up - so a lot of both is familiar to us. Sesame Street AND Worzel Gummidge. 😂😂 2y
LeahBergen I remember the top right edition. I grew up with Puffin Books here in Canada. ❤️ 2y
Centique @LeahBergen looks like Canada got both the UK and US influences as well! 2y
Andrew65 A great book! I too remember the tv series @RachelO 2y

@shelf-improvement already used the poster picture so I pulled this one down for #Clueless which is also my favorite #JaneAustenAdaptation because Paul Rudd is my nerd crush and has been ever since this movie. #seasonsreadings @RealLifeReading

britt_brooke Ah, yes. I do love some Paul Rudd, chin pubes and all. 😁👌🏻 3y
britt_brooke PS. Clueless is my all-time favorite movie. Have you read As If! ? I highly recommend it. 3y
feminismandyoga @britt_brooke I haven't read it but it's going on the TBR! 3y
britt_brooke @StoredFeminism I just read it a few months ago and it made me love the movie even more. 👍🏻👍🏻 3y

I can't get the silly Goodreads app to do The My Year in Books thingy on my phone. Anyone know how to do that?

Here's a pic from my laptop instead. I tagged the first book I read in 2016, which was a cosy mystery with a cat and a library.

Alicia I logged in on my phone and switched to the Desktop site if that helps! 3y
Reviewsbylola I had to pull it up on safari instead of the app. 3y
MrBook 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻 3y

OrangeMooseReads I had to go to the site as well 3y
LauraBeth Nice year! ⭐😀👏 3y
megnews I can't either. Not even sure where to find it. 3y
Laura317 @Libby1 I had to take a photo of my monitor as well. #clueless 3y
ocdIrene I don't think this feature works in the app. If you wanted a picture of the infographic, you could take a screenshot. On a Mac, hit , , and all at the same time. You'll get a "target" icon that you can drag and drop over the infographic. When you drop the icon, you'll make a screenshot of that area as a .png file, which you can edit like a photo you took with an iPhone or iPad. I take screenshots all the time??? 3y
MargaretPinardAuthor I was just annoyed at discovering this lack of mobile capability too! Bah. More curmudgeonly every year... 3y
Libby1 Thanks, @Alicia , @Reviewsbylola , @MrBook, @OrangeMooseReads , @saresmoore , @LauraBeth , @megnews , @Laura317 , and @MargaretPinardAuthor for commiserating or liking Little Dorrit. 😊. Thanks @ocdIrene for the info! I'll keep it for reference. 👍 3y

Farenheit 451 | Ray Bradbury, Cid Knipel

1 hour & 36 pages into #readathon & really liking this book. The intro by Neil Gaiman was a unexpected bonus!!

jpmcwisemorgan Neil wrote an introduction for this book? I'm going to have to find a copy! 3y
Theresa @jpmcwisemorgan It's the 50th anniversary edition. Ive owned it for months & never noticed that right there on the cover it says, "With a new introduction by Neil Gaiman." #clueless ? 3y
jpmcwisemorgan @Theresa Well, I'm glad you were clueless for awhile and are now sharing this information with Litsy. If you had realized sooner, then you might not have shared this with us and we would worse off for it. Let's not call it clueless, let's call it meant to be. 🙂 3y

BookishFeminist @Zelma LOL AYN RAND 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 3y
Sue All of the yes!! 3y
LaurenReads But what if they buy you books first? 😍🤔 3y
Shortstack @LaurenReads that's how my boyfriend won me over. We started out long distance and once a month or so I'd get surprise book packages of his favorite books for me to read. 3y
Yamich49 🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️❤️👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 3y
Shortstack @Skiles men who don't read buy books for girls? That's just weird to me. 😬 3y
Yamich49 @Skiles @Zelma @shawnmooney 🙌🏽🙌🏽 YES LMAO 3y
BookishFeminist @Shortstack YES I had a boyfriend buy me books but never read 🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻 3y
Shortstack @Skiles well a gift card is no fun! Who wants a gift from someone that isn't picked without thought and love? If they can't pick a book I'll love to get me then HELL NO!! 3y
Shortstack @BookishFeminist how did he figure out what books to buy you? I guess Chaz is the only guy to really buy me books and they were all books he read that he thought I'd like. 3y
Shortstack @Skiles Man! Life is scary! Although I'd love to have a $300 gift card to my favorite gift card. 3y
BookishFeminist @Shortstack I didn't say he was any good at picking the books out 😜 he did ask a friend once though and that went better 3y
Shortstack @Skiles I've had my share of 💩 in my time! One of my exes didn't know basic Greek or Roman mythology. How do you not know who Zeus is?!?? I mean he was 💩 for so many more reasons but yeah. Lol 3y
Yournewfriendsams @Skiles I am loving watching this unfold. I once dated a dude may have been illiterate 😖 damn dudes in bands. You're right, CONSTANT VIGILANCE. 3y
Shortstack @BookishFeminist Well at least you got better books then?! 😂😂😂 I hope you find a magical reader man! 3y
Yournewfriendsams @Skiles also, back to the Tolkien warning. Run! Run! 3y
Megabooks When I was on Match, if a guy couldn't come up with the last book he read, forget him! And that was hard because I was in a small ass hick town in rural Kentucky. Only one guy fit the bill. 😕 3y
BookishFeminist @Shortstack I have a magical reader man who not only buys me books I hadn't even heard of but also rebinds and makes them for me! Also he reads so that helps @becausetrains 3y
Yournewfriendsams @BookishFeminist don't let him go! 3y
Yournewfriendsams @Ebooksandcooks I always joke that every single dating profile says they like reading and the outdoors. Lies! LIES!! 3y
Shortstack @BookishFeminist Goooooooooooooooood!! You deserve it!! 3y
Shortstack @Yournewfriendsams I went on a date with a guy I met on online dating when my profile name was something like ReaderGirl and when I met up with him he told me he didn't believe in reading. What does that even mean? Needless to say our date did not end well! 3y
BookishFeminist @Yournewfriendsams @Shortstack Don't worry he's not going anywhere! If I haven't scared him off yet with my choices in creepy reading and tv material then I doubt I will 💀🔪👀 3y
BookishFeminist @Shortstack @Yournewfriendsams Wait. I. Did. ...did you just say DOESN'T BELIEVE IN READING??!!! 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 that's disgusting 3y
Shortstack @BookishFeminist good! It's crazy when you find one that fits, doesn't it? 3y
Shortstack @BookishFeminist @Yournewfriendsams Pretty much. He went on and on and on about it. Why even ask someone out who's entire profile is a list of books she likes if you don't believe in reading?! 3y
Yournewfriendsams @Shortstack what?!? Don't believe in reading?!? Wtf does that even mean?!? 3y
BookishFeminist @Shortstack I mean, probably a guy that imagines he has something to prove and by prove I mean be a mansplaining jackass about 3y
Yournewfriendsams @Skiles @BookishFeminist @Shortstack @Ebooksandcooks I love that we can call commiserate over horrific dates where guys can't read/don't read/are unaware what a good books is 😫😂😖 3y
Yournewfriendsams ^and apparently I can't spell/type either. #friday🍻 3y
Yournewfriendsams @Skiles they seriously have every other dating site combo. Have you seen that shit for Disney lovers?! What has this world come to?!? 3y
Shortstack @Yournewfriendsams I have no idea!! I stopped listening pretty closely. He did take me to a famous restaurant that a ton of famous writers used to frequent called Musso and Frank's before telling me this. So I guess that was cool? The bartender told us a story about Hemingway and Yogi Berra that made the night as a whole worthwhile! 3y
Shortstack @Skiles @Yournewfriendsams @BookishFeminist @Ebooksandcooks a dating site for readers?! That's a great idea! Or just not agree to go on a date with a guy until he shows you his Litsy or Goodreads. 😂 3y
BookishFeminist @Shortstack That's a fuck of a silver lining to take away from a date with a guy who doesn't believe in reading- good job! 💯💯 3y
BookishFeminist @Shortstack @Skiles @Yournewfriendsams @Ebooksandcooks YEP 😂😂 you learn a lot about someone from what people read and rate- my favorite is to look and see whether he has a politics shelf and what contents might be in it 👀 3y
Shortstack @Skiles hells yeah I am!! North Hollywood to be exact. 3y
Yournewfriendsams @Shortstack @Skiles fuck yeah! IRL friends in the making! 3y
Megabooks @Shortstack @BookishFeminist @Yournewfriendsams @Skiles Seriously! We need some positive confirmation of reading! Doesn't believe in it? Wtf does that even mean. Is reading Santa?! I'd totally go for a dating site that scans your reads and TBR and matches you. Litsy for Lovers perhaps? 3y
Shortstack @Skiles crazysauce! I've been thinking of putting together a mini Litsy meetup to The Last Bookstore or Book Soup sometime. You know for locals. 3y
Shortstack @Ebooksandcooks if I was single I'd be all about helping create, test, promote that app in any way I could! 😂 3y
Shortstack @Skiles that's so disappointing! I've never been to Book Soup. I go to The Last Bookstore whenever I can since it's just a red line ride away. Also Grand Central Market!! Do you know other locals? 3y
Megabooks Ok @Litsy ? You listening? We need a dating site!!! I'd pay! Eharmony with books lol! @Skiles @Shortstack 3y
Shortstack @Skiles I love the importance of parking in LA! 😂 I avoid driving outside of work and groceries. I walk and take the Red Line wherever I can. 3y
BookishFeminist @Ebooksandcooks DEFINITELY #LitsyAfterDark 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💅🏼💅🏼 3y
Megabooks @Shortstack @Skiles "Everywhere you go has valet." #clueless ? 3y
Smrloomis I know nothing about anything discussed on this thread and still enjoyed reading it immensely 😂👏🏽 Thanks my fellow Littens! 3y
itsbrb ^^* @Smrloomis completely agree. That was fantastic. 3y
mauveandrosysky YES! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 3y
GinaAnderson @Skiles Truer words were never written. My college boyfriend. Named his dog Strider because Lord of the Rings was the only book he'd ever read. Turns out, he was a dumbass. 3y
tnorris Agreed! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 3y
MCYmermaid Absolutely!! 3y
MrBook 😂😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻 Words to live by! That's one reason why @BookBabe and I are so profoundly close 😁! 3y
MrBook @GinaAnderson Ah maaaan. So few intelligent people in this world 😕. What @Skiles said 😊. 3y
