This was a fun book. Perfect for reading on the porch with a glass of wine. The main character was pretty self absorbed, but everyone kept reminding him of that fact so it‘s more endearing than annoying. The love story was fun too- the first son of the US and a British prince. This was my pick for #ReadingWithMrBook debut novel.

The afterward included a note from the author about the election of 2016 and her hopes for 2020 🤞

britt_brooke Pretty photo! And a great read. 4y
thevagabondlawyer I loved this book 👏 4y

Having been let go by the police force Constance and her sisters are in Maryland helping get ready for the war. I really enjoy this series and the historical aspects of these novels. #LitsyAuthor #ReadingwithMrBook

melissajayne Should I read the series in order? 3y
Bookwormjillk @melissajayne I would read the first one first then after that I‘m not sure it matters 3y
melissajayne @Bookwormjillk I have read the first one. 3y

My only book by the only #LitsyAuthor I know is this one. Even though I can‘t remember what it‘s about, it is kind of special to me. This is because I bought it in 1998 in Huntsville, Alabama. My bf and I made our first trip to the US (bringing a little tent because we has not much money, but yet enough to buy books obviously 😉), driving through Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama. Great memories!

I picked this up as a part of #LitsyAuthor for #ReadingwithMrBook. The plot concerns Rachel and Liam traveling back to 1815 from a dystopian future, to retrieve the manuscript of Jane Austen‘s unfinished novel, The Watsons and her letters to her sister. Having elements of both historical fiction and science fiction, this novel is a must-read for fans of Austen. I am glad that I read this. #LitsyAtoZ letter J

MissAimz_55 @Eggs yeah sometimes I feel I am doing too much but I use books for multiple prompts. I am also focusing to read for fun and not get overwhelmed . If I don‘t get stuff done that‘s fine. As long as I‘m reading books I love (edited) 4y
Eggs That‘s a great way to look at it!! Maybe the only way so you don‘t feel pressured 🤗👏🏻🤗 4y

MissAimz_55 But what I love about all the challenges is that it opens my eyes to books I would never have read @Eggs 4y
Eggs I agree. Without being immersed in #authoramonth2020, I might never have read Collin Whitehead or Haruki Murakami! 4y

I think you can rely on me to be down to the wire finishing my #authoramonth books, @Soubhiville 😬.
Cora escapes the plantation she is enslaved on via the Underground Railroad. That is a very simple summary. This book is so much more. It is rich in detail and character. The story is scary, disturbing and heartbreaking. Probably even more so because we know that while this particular story is fiction there is truth in much of the book. ⬇️

Bookzombie I also found hope within the pages. It also made me think a lot about where we are at currently and how some of the attitudes in this book are more prevalent than some of us think or used to think. This was also a #tearjerker for me. #ReadingwithMrBook It‘s also second from the bottom on my Litsy TBR #Booked2020 #BottomOfYourTBR 4y

Bought Maus I and II from the library bookstore for $9, a few days back. Re-read for #ReadingwithMrBook #tearjerker and book #AboutGenocide for #Booked2020.
This emotional set focuses on the author‘s relationship with his father, a Holocaust survivor. The different nationalities are represented by different kinds of animals, accentuating the horrors of the concentration camps, the survival tactics employed by the Jews, and the hope of life.

So why exactly did I wait that long? I guess a good book is a good book no matter how long you wait. I‘m broken, 😥😥😥. I need to go away and finish crying and process my thoughts.
Meets a load of prompts which I‘ll sort in a little bit when I‘ve composed myself 💔💔
My friends who love it, I totally see why.
Do I watch the film (in about 3 years when I get over it?!).

MicrobeMom This one still haunts me! 4y
Tanisha_A Gosh! I am waitingggg to read this. I have a copy too. 4y

Read this in one day, as the ebook hold was about to expire. It may be short. But it adequately shows the injustice dealt to the boys of a correctional school, which is based on an actual location and events. The ending surprised me 😢.
