Pickpick

This book is a pick for me - although not a standout. A quicker and enjoyable read about women and how they assisted with the radar work during WWII. Loved learning about how radar played a roll in WWII despite it being a new technology. It was a good blend of learning about how radar technology worked/was used with the other storylines going on. It is pretty easy to see where the book is going but still well written and an enjoyable read.

Picked this book up for my first #LiteraryCrew and it's the first book up in 2026. It is cold, and I feel absolutely no want to be productive today. Perfect day to curl up with a book and do nothing else....until the kids get bored with the Lego! 😆

My #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin for the month of January using colours on covers. These books should check a few boxes on other challenges/reading events as well. Looking forward to getting my 2026 reading underway!

Excellent historical fiction about women who operated radar in Hawaii after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and throughout WWII. Sometimes I need a nudge from buddy reads like #LiteraryCrew to get me to read a book that I‘ve got on my library wish list. Women‘s friendships play a key role in the story (along with a cat and her kittens). Found family has played an important role in my life so it‘s one of my favorite themes in fiction.

Librarybelle So glad you liked this! I have to find time to make the graphic for the book! 😂 1w

reposting for @Librarybelle

I‘m happy to share next year‘s #LiteraryCrew ‘s reading list! Roughly 20 Littens voted on the list of titles, which is an amazing number.

The clear top votes went to Passing and Radar Girls. Passing technically had the most votes, but I think it‘s a good book to read for Black History Month.

If you would like to be included on the tag list, please let me know! All are welcome! #BuddyRead

#ItTakesAllKinds #F&NFwithSameTopic

After reading the tagged book , a fictionalized account of the Women‘s Air Raid Defense & their work in WWII in Hawaii, I had to find & read Shuffleboard Pilots, non-fiction about the WARD. #FandNFwithSameTopic

#SummerEndReadathon #Rushathon

Finished last night for #BookedInTime WWII. I really enjoyed this & was glad to finally get it off my TBR stack. This is the third Hawaii Islands-set WWII novel I have read from this author & I loved that this one is set on Oahu so names & places are especially familiar. Learning about the Women‘s Air Raid Defense WARD) was interesting & there is friendship & romance. Engaging & not too heavy for a WWII book, ⬇️

DebinHawaii … the author‘s notes in the back inspired me to put this book on hold at the library to learn more about WARD: 2y

#IdiomInsight

The #UpInArms idiom first appeared in the 1500s & most likely referred to arms, weapons & ammunition & someone being angry enough to grab a weapon.

For #BookedInTime Sept, we are reading WWII books & I chose this one, stacked in my #TBR about women in the Women‘sAir Raid Defense at Pearl Harbor whose job it was to track unidentified aircraft if the Pacific. The attack on Pearl Harbor had the US “up in arms” & joining in WWII.

Eggs Excellent ✈️ 💣 🖤 2y

Daisy is a wonderful character who you follow as her native Hawaii comes under attack by the Japanese and she begins training as a Radar Girl. This is a wonderful story about the women who learned the radar system, coordinated the flights around Hawaii, and looked for enemy aircraft. Just a wonderful book with a sweet little romance. Loved this book and the Hawaiian setting.

Audiobooking and late night cooking!! My youngest daughter (age 10) has recently discovered she love‘s mamas homemade roasted tomato & garlic soup. Funny she doesn‘t like onions (caramelized on the right) or tomatoes but this is the second time this week for the soup!

I absolutely love listening to audiobooks while I do things around the house or cook and this book is simply fabulous!
