I was reminded of this book recently and couldn‘t remember if I‘d ever actually read it? Graeme Base feels very familiar to me as a 90s Aussie kid but I‘ve never been particularly patient (even though Where‘s Wally had me in a chokehold) so carefully searching for visual clues wouldn‘t have appealed - so it‘s very possible that I didn‘t… anyway, it‘s pretty cool (I read the answer page and made no attempt at decoding. I know who I am)
Second in the series. This time Mike Brink gets called to Japan to solve the Dragon Box. Like these books. Adventure, puzzles, good characters. Nothing too deep, just a fun read. 🧩🧩🧩🧩
I managed one bingo on the January #ISpyBingo board.
I‘ll continue working on it throughout the year.
I'm going outside the box for one of my reading challenge prompts this year. I'm working through a book of logic puzzles. I'm still reading, but I'm also checking for comprehension. I couldn't bring myself to write in the book in case I pass it along when I'm done, so I'm using one of my MANY little notebooks to good use. Who's doing something similar?
Which tag is everyone using? 😁

The Puzzle Box is a fast-paced thriller with interesting characters and a twisty, fun plot. As I enjoyed the first book in this series, I knew I would be pulled into this story. I love how Trussoni mixes legends, cultures, and modern technology to create believable adventures that are true page-turners. Mike Brink is such a unique character, and his ability to solve everything thrown at him will keep readers invested in his unique solutions.
After an accident when he was a young man, Mike Brink develops a savant syndrome that allows him to see interlocking patterns, making it possible for him to solve impossible puzzles. Every twelve years, since the Meiji Restoration, puzzle masters have attempted to open the Dragon Box, providing access to the treasure within.; all have died in the attempt. Now it‘s Mike‘s turn. Reminiscent of works of Dan Brown, although not as tautly written. Fun!
I feel like I should have done better, as a retired school librarian. And having been a librarian I‘m not really surprised at any of the books on the list. People will complain about the weirdest things. #IReadBannedBooks #TLT #ThreeListThursday
