I had Pratchett‘s The Color of Magic out from the library but it was returned before I read it. #sigh

Unfortunately bailing on this one for now. I might try the ebook once my hoopla borrows reset for May, but I've been slogging through this audiobook. I'm a third of the way and feel like barely anything has happened. Has anyone else read this one? Does the pace pick up at all?
I'm bummed because it was doing some cool things inverting the Darcy/Elizabeth characters that I was excited to see explored

Crinoline_Laphroaig Looked up my Goodreads Review. Bailed on this series awhile back. Liked parts of this one. Especially the food! Antagonism between main characters went on way too long. Also it was unbelievable how Dr. Trisha just blithely told any and everyone who asked about her patient's condition. Privacy??? 3d

Crinoline_Laphroaig Whole cousin who 'saw the future' was a weird addition. Also handling of the 'Big Secret' was problematic. 3d

Stopped at 10%. Usually I love Scalzi, but i could not get into this story. Normally I fly through his pages, but I was creeping along with this one. Like reading just a few pages each sitting.

I wasn‘t looking forward to continuing, and even worse, I started dreading picking up my Kobo. That‘s when I knew to #DNF. Maybe I‘ll try again someday.

Okay. This bail is 100% on me. I really wanted this to be a book version of the History Channel‘s “Food that Built America” show. This is not like that. Family drama, oh yes. Characters that are difficult to like? You betcha. I‘m glad I found my copy at Savers for $3.99 because that‘s exactly where it‘s going back to. #HailtheBail
