With toxic lesbian vampires and themes of freedom and power, obsession, hunger, grief, and control, this one gets all the stars from me. From V.E. Schwab: “Each of my stories can be distilled down to a few important emotional beats... For Bones, each of the women was defined by a word: head, heart, hunger.“
Excellent book. While I don't believe it was quite as good as her Addie LaRue book, it is still excellent. Grabs you and won't let go. And I'm not big on books about or with vampires. lol I loved it.
pickWow 🤩 for once the hype is correct on this one Schwab‘s best yet in my opinion, I really enjoyed Addie LaRue but this is even better , clever plotting fantastic characters , totally absorbing , loved the historical blend with modern day and three protagonists all very different . This will be in my top ten maybe even top five books 📚 of the year - loved it ,

Exactly as promised, toxic lesbian vampires. I didn‘t like it as much as Addie, but I still liked it very much. I might have to break down and read a series.

I did it again. Accidentally, fell into a signed copy. Apparently, 2025 is also my year for fantasy. But how do you even resist toxic lesbian vampires?! I loved Addie, so I have very high hopes for this one. Someone make me tea, I‘m going in!
pickI had to sit with this for a few minutes before I reviewed. This was a beautifully haunting gothic story of love, freedom, and desire.the whole story even the ugly parts were written with such rich prose just really masterful!With that being said, I wanted more in the pacing and plot and less reiteration 4🌟
pickI‘m not a lover of all books in the fantasy genre but count me in on any VE Schwab book every time. There are three MC‘s here and while I was ready for a Sabine‘s timeline to give way to the worlds of Lottie and Alice, all 3 timelines were great and in the end I appreciate the chapters given to Sabine. …Also pride month so might as well make it gay🏳️🌈
pickThough this vampire story unfolds a bit slowly, the latter half flew by & I read late into the night (fitting for a vampire story). I enjoyed the varied settings but didn‘t really connect with any of the three narrators. I liked Schwab‘s spin on vampire lore, but I have to admit that at times this really felt like an all female re-imagining of INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE which was a bit disappointing. The ending, while appropriate, was a let down.
I preordered this one a while ago and didn‘t even realize it was a signed copy! Bonus!
This was one of the top books I wanted to get and it‘s signed and I got a button and bookmark with it

pickThese women are living a life of being used, silenced, hidden, or punished for wanting more. I loved that this was not just about monsters, it‘s about what women become when they are denied their voices for too long.
pickI won an ARC of this book without knowing what it was about, but ended up really enjoying this intense vampire tale. The story takes place on multiple timelines, following the lives of Maria, a young woman in Spain, and Alice, a Scottish student studying abroad in Boston. Each of their lives are changed forever when they meet an intriguing stranger; for Maria, it's Sabine, a widow and herbalist, while for Alice it's Lottie. That ending, though!
pickThis was so good. Maybe better than Addie LaRue.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2025 is filled with all sorts of reading fun!
1. I usually set a goal, well within my reach so I don‘t stress about achieving it, for the number of books I want to read. So, 150 for 2025.
2. Off the top of my head, I‘d have to say I‘m really looking forward to V.E. Schwab‘s new book (tagged)—I‘ve loved everything she‘s written with one exception so I‘m ready to dive into another one.
