So I decided to read this one really quick! Curiosity and everything 😹 the writing is not great, but I‘m told that I will understand things more clearly after reading it. We will see! Have you read it??

I really enjoyed this book. Britney isn't a poetic writer but it was very raw and honest. It truly helps you understand her life and how unfair the public/press was to her growing up. And the terrible conservatorship she was under and how it was allowed to happen for so long is astounding. I really feel for her and it gives you a glimpse of what she went through and is still in the process of healing from it.
Listened to the audiobook. Was difficult to listen to at times - Britney Spears has gone through so much since a very young age. Made me have even more empathy and understanding for her. Her conservatorship was absolutely abusive. Highly recommend for any music fan, child of the 90s, etc.
Oof. I was a free Britney fan, but admit that took a step back. This was a gift, and not something I intended to read but I‘m so glad I did. It‘s funny and makes you really feel conpassion.
Very interesting to hear Britney voice her story herself. It‘s a pretty sad one, and I admire the hopefulness with which it is told. No literary masterpiece, but beautifully read by Michelle Williams. It‘s been a great year for the celebrity memoir.
This left me sad. I feel like if she had someone who cared about her and not about what they could get out of her, her life could have been something so different.
I tried but just couldn‘t finish this book. She writes like how I feel a squirrel would think…just here there and all over the place. I‘m sure it was great for her to get out all of her feelings and emotions but the book really needed a better editor to help her make this work.

I grew up with BS, and it was bizarre hearing her describe times and events that I completely remember watching on TV. And judging her for them at the time! The book itself is jumpy and doesn‘t delve deeply into things, but it‘s really heartbreaking hearing all she‘s been through. Hopefully she finds some peace!
Star: 3/5
71% through this, damn she really went through it. It's a shame her family couldn't just get her a decent psychiatrist instead of the completely nuclear option they chose.
It was a little jumpy but the book itself revealed a lot of the trauma and neglect spears had gone through and how she felt in certain situations. I'm sure there are so many horrific events she's experienced, but this book was an inside look to who she is, what she's been through, and who she is now. I hope her life gets back on track for her. ❤️
Britney‘s memoir is short and a quick listen on audio, but it still covers what many people want to know most about—her relationships and the conservatorship. It‘s a bit repetitive in parts, but the chapters are sort and you feel as if you‘re listening to a friend thanks to Michelle‘s narration. Britney has lived such a tough life and I truly hope she has sunnier days ahead and is able to spend more time with her kids.
I finished this a couple weeks ago! It‘s simply written. A lot of her earlier career is somewhat glossed over but it goes into detail with her relationships with Justin Timberlake and Kevin Federline. And of course the conservatorship which was truly awful. They could lock her up in institutions at their will & control what she ate. I won‘t give away other hints & I hope she is able to find peace now that she‘s free!
4½✨
I can't say I'm a Britney fan, but I have a few songs I love. Funny thing, those are the songs she mentions that really means something to her.
This was such a raw, open, and honest account of what Britney had to endure. My heart bleeds for her turmoil and pain.
I hope she finds all her healing and the Woman she needs to be for herself.

I‘m not a Britney fan per se, but I have always appreciated her hard work. However, I wanted to read this because of all the broohaha about her family and conservatorship. All I can is that her dad is horrible and this man ought to be bitch slapped all the way to a dungeon where he spends his last days.
My very first audiobook, I‘m still on the fence about “counting” it, but it was pretty good. I probably won‘t do many more but they‘re fun. Hard to focus.
Really enjoyed this audiobook.
Britney has been through so much and the people in her life especially family are horrible glad she is free now.
The conservatorship sounds like the old excuse of getting a woman sectioned for having her own opinion unbelievable that this could happen today and to someone so famous completely in the public eye 😱
Heck yeah! Finishing Britney‘s book this morning completed my Goodreads challenge of 100 books in 2023! I always love seeing this little block pop up with confetti 🎉
Also, it‘s another chance for me to mention how much I love Litsy year after year. I‘ve been here since the beginning and this community just gets better every year. I appreciate you all for indulging my reading habits!!
I‘m astonished all Britney was going thru while I was listening to her, watching her interviews, and-yes, like everyone-giggling at some of the jokes on late-night TV. It‘s uncomfortable, listening to all of her pain. And heartbreaking. My jaw dropped several times when she talked about Justin, Kevin, and her awful dad. I‘m glad I read it. I appreciate her raw honesty and feel I know her a little better now.
Narration by Michelle Williams is 💯
Started this last night. Only a quarter done, so much sadness already. No one should ever take abortion pills outside of a hospital setting let alone 20 years ago. She's so lucky to be alive.
I graduated high school in 1999 in Louisiana, so Britney was a huge part of my memories that year and my first year in college. While I wasn't a fan of her music, I still thought she was very talented.
This book was full of so much heart. Like others have said, I'm thankful she is finally being seen and getting to tell her story.

Oh, poor Britney! It‘s like no one has ever had her back, even when she was a kid. And to be treated so horribly by the two people who were supposed to love her the most. I hope writing this helps her healing process and that she finds peace.
And side note - Kevin and Justin are both total Douchecanoes. Yes, with a capital D!

Now it wasn‘t quite as indelible as Paris Hilton‘s memoir was but she definitely put her heart into this…it‘s tragic how awful her own family treated her. It‘s really sad how she didn‘t seem to ever have anyone in her corner, and if they were…they didn‘t stay that way for long…other than her fans, of course. Her naivety is evident and she had to learn the hard way not to trust anyone. Michelle Williams did a fine job of narrating.
I always find it hard to review memoirs. I listened to this and enjoyed Michelle William‘s narration. I felt for Brittany because she wasn‘t protected when she should have been. I hope times are changing where girls are not just a commodity to be tossed aside to protect the image of the straight white male. I hope she has a future full of joy and peace. 3.5 🌟
Gosh, this just made me tremendously sad. The level of abuse she has suffered at the hands of literally every single person in her life is just heartbreaking. I wish her peace.
This book is an unabashed look at her life from childhood to now dripping in denial. Maybe my psychology side is showing, but reading this book was like looking inside the mind of a delusional individual with very real and unresolved issues.
This was a very honest autobiography. I hope that writing this book provided Britney with some healing; it's been a long lonely road.
Started it this morning on my commute! Before I started it, I wondered why she got someone else to read it. But she mentions in her Introduction-which she reads herself-that it would be too painful for her to read certain parts. Michelle Williams has such a patient, soothing voice. I predict this is going to be a great listen.
I‘m so glad Britney is finally getting to tell her story.
This is a fascinating story. Having been celebrity gossip fodder for most of the 21st century, it's great that Britney Spears is finally getting to tell her own story. The emotional & financial abuse her family inflicted on her is shocking, and I've never understood how, if she was so unwell that she couldn't be allowed to see her kids or access her own money, she could be forced to work. Oh & Justin Timberlake and Kevin Federline are utter dicks.
I love Britney, and I‘m glad she got to share her story. I can‘t fathom how her father pulled the wool over so many different sets of eyes. This memoir is sad, at parts unbelievable, and reallllllly makes you ready to pull up on Britney‘s behalf 👊. I hope she has nothing but joy from here out because if all the shizz in this book went down, she sure deserves it!
“I‘ve learned that lesson now, the hard way. You have to speak the thing that you‘re feeling, even if it scares you. You have to tell your story. You have to raise your voice.”
Such a powerful and truthful quote❤️
"I feel like a lot of women—and this is definitely true of me—can be as strong as they want to be, can play this powerful role, but at the end of the day, after we‘ve done our work and made our money and taken care of everyone else, we want someone to hold us tight and tell us everything‘s going to be okay"
~Britney Spears~
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️how anyone survived what she did is a miracle. Maybe not unscathed but going forward she gets to decide how tidy or messy her life is. She‘s a grown ass woman. Shame in her family for doing more harm than good😡. Parenting is loving and supportive. Not facilities and Corning someone to work for you. Burns my ass when he says “I‘m Britney Spears now”.
As far as memoirs go....this is highly entertaining and a page turner. I loved going back and watching all he content she was refering to. At times I found myself questioning... victim or narcissist? Not sure what to believe. This women, her life and how our society destroyed her. An insightful look into the darkside of the music industry, fame, mental health our society and being a sweet women caught up in it. Will make a great book club read .
I‘m so excited about Spotify‘s new audiobook program for Premium users! Listening to Britney Spear‘s new memoir for free and available to download immediately with no holds! You get 15 hours a month of free listening and that‘s not too bad! 1-2 audiobooks a month depending on how long they are!
My hold came in! I need to switch some things up because I'm in a slump!
“Humor made it possible for me to not be consumed by bitterness.”
Jumping in on the audio version bandwagon with this one. Great listen so far 🖤
This feels like she needed to bare the surface of her soul! Parts were chilling! I can‘t rate the book, only that she shared it. I hope she‘s left the toxicity in her rear view. Best wishes for a future full of happiness based on HER desires.
♥️
Not the best written book, but seemed very real and raw.
“I realized how powerful it can be when women defy expectations.”
I love that Britney is talking about Paula Cole, one of my favorite singers.
