While a bit long winded, I really enjoyed this second book in the series, even more than the first. The characters continue to grow and the complicated relationships and world building is compelling. I love seeing how all the various communities have formed and the ways they are different and alike. And the intrigue, Im all about the intrigue! She is a #chunkster and I counted her as 2 squares for #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
A happy little flop 😀
Decided I'm here for the blood and ash series and the flesh and fire series. Of course then I thought this book was in the flesh and fire series since.... It's literally what it's called but how silly of me to think that.
Jennifer Armentrout > Rebecca Yarros
If you told me that in 2023 I would be enjoying romantasy fiction I would have thought you lost your mind. But here we are and I‘m the one losing my mind for these types of books. Really enjoying this series so far; this was the second book in this series. I like Hawke more than the female MC.
I definitely enjoyed the ending of this book and watching a certain romance evolve into something more. The only drawback was what some other reviews have mentioned about there being a lot of repetition of the same conversation. Still a pick for me though!
This book took me a million years to finish (that‘s what it felt like) & honestly not much happened in this one. I feel like it could have been about 200 pages shorter. Poppy was still insufferable. This one wasn‘t as good as the first one and I‘m not sure I‘ll keep going with the series since everyone says it just gets worse from here. It‘s so sad bc this is such a good story. I‘m definitely going to read Hawke‘s POV when it comes out tho! 3.5/5
A 3.5⭐️ read. There is a lot of world building as Poppy learns more about the truth of the Ascended as well as battling her feelings for Casteel. There is a lot of talking & going over the same murmured whispers & it is not until the last quarter the pace picks up & the story starts going somewhere. You can tell the questions Poppy asks will be needed later in the series & the relationship between her and Casteel makes it worth sticking with.
Loving this series so far! I love poppy and casteels non-teaditional blooming relationship. I genuinely have no idea where this series is going next and I love it!

This is the second book in the From Blood and Ash series. I absolutely love this one and am so glad I read it! It has one of my favorite scenes ever in a book!
@Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
Honestly was so unimpressed with this book until the last four hours on the audiobook. And that is the only reason it‘s getting a so so. I felt like most of the book was the same conversations over and over again with no movement in character development or plot. However with the last section mentioned above it did make things very interesting and had me jumping to the next book. Hopefully the third one will redeem the series in its entirety.
I wish there was more plot per chapter, I felt there were a lot of repetitive conversations and inner thoughts. The ending had me needing more immediately though. So with that I must read the next.

Today's picks are!:
📚: A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire
✒️: Kelly Moran
🎬: Kindergarten Cop
🎤: The Killers
🎶: King of All Excuses by Staind
This was the second book in this series and I enjoyed it, fun escape with these characters I will continue with the other books 📖
"The most beautiful things in all the kingdom often have jagged and uneven lines, scars which intensify the beauty in intricate ways our eyes nor our minds can detect or even begin to understand," ... "Without them, they would just be common and ordinary, like all the other smoothly cut diamonds you can find anywhere you look. Beauty, my sweet child, is often broken and barbed, and always unexpected."
This is the second book in the Blood and Ash series. I loved every page of it. It was sooo good and that ending was awesome. Jumping into book 3 now 😀
Just got my #SES #SpringEquinoxSwap box!
Thank you @mklong

The reason that it‘s a “pick” instead of “so-so” is the final 15% of the book which is absolutely marvelous and I can‘t wait to see what‘s going to happen next. First 85% of the book is sexy times with some bickering and that‘s about it. The banter is repetitive, which is a bit sad because I love banter. World building is there though, one just has to find it. It was an easy and fast read. Will I continue with the series? Absolutely.
Love. Love. Love. The relationships formed and the amazing moments that got me yelling, “Oh my God” had my husband constantly asking me what happened and if everything was ok. I‘m going to have to break my New Years resolution of not starting another new book until I finished my stack. I just can‘t wait for the next one!
It's an addictive story. I need to know what happens next. I needed something that wasn't stressful to take my mind off of the world.
The second in the Blood and Ash series, this novel is not as action packed as the first, but just when it starts to get a little slow, there is a battle or an attack by The Hills Have Eyes style cannibals in the woods to liven things up. A bit more romancey than the first but still fun.
Her books aren‘t hard to read but this one is pretty thick. I know there‘s more than three books in this series but this felt like the second book in a trilogy, things are leading up to something but we have to get there. Does end where you want the next book. #bookspinbingo
Book 2 of this series. I‘m reading things a little backwards and I forgot to review this when I finished it the other week! Cliff notes…I LOVED IT! Love the characters, the world building…all of it 🧡⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book is very steamy, hot and heavy if you catch my drift. I didn‘t mind it in the least 😂 It was Worded very thoughtfully that it did not read like a cheap romance. Clever dialogue. The World building is excellent so is the emotional contemplating. Thoroughly enjoyable. This was the second book after From Blood and Ash can‘t wait to read the next one. 4 1/2 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
My #doublespin pick took me literally all month to read, this one focused a little too much on romance and annoying character stuff instead of violence and I swear how did it take them the whole book to arrive where they needed to 🤣. Hopefully the next one will be better. I did enjoy it but I had to push through some parts.
@TheAromaofBooks
Saw some of the ending coming but a whole lot still took me by surprise.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely loved this book. I will always love a heroine who can, quite literally, defend herself. The constant tension between heroine and hero always had me guessing what was going to happen next. Already cannot wait to reread this epic story of adventure and self discovery.

Just got this bad boy in the mail and let me tell you guys I‘m ready to get hurt again. The first book was an absolute shitstorm. Not the best fantasy I‘ve ever read but I was intrigued enough to buy the second one. 🤷🏻♀️ Sometimes I just like my spice okay? #nowreading #frombloodandash #akingdomoffleshandfire
Welp, I'm in love with a fictional character... It look 30+ years of reading but it's finally happened. Casteel is... Breathtaking. Obviously I loved this book! The intense feelings surrounding everything that happened in book one? Not to even mention the very last few pages of this book. I had to reread the ending to ensure I absorbed every detail. On to book three!
Please read this series! It's not like anything I expected.
There aren‘t any more pages, and I have no idea what to do with the rest of my night 😂
Finished this one and wow what an ending. About 70% in I felt it was a bit long and seemed to have a lot of additional world building for a 2nd book in a series but wow the last third of the book. This is not a standalone and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.
4.5⭐️ Would be 5 but for it being a little slow in places. Can‘t wait to read the next one! Making great time for #20in4marathon #audio
The problem with finishing a book at 9:30 at night that ends the way this one did, is that I know if I start the next one now, I will not get any sleep tonight. I loved this book more than the first. I have a feeling the series is going to leave me with a major book hangover. #fantasy
Obviously I‘m starting this immediately
Got over halfway through today!
Thanks for the tag, @Eggs !
#Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView
1. Well, belated St. Patrick's Day, everyone!😅Hope y'all had fun!
2. Would probably yell at the lead characters in the tagged book to speak the truth to themselves and to each other sooner! Two more days until I meet them again!!
Here we go ... cracking into book two. The first one in the series started out slow for me but half way through grab my attention and I couldn‘t put it down! Luckily, I was able to borrow this one from a friend , since I made the vow of no book buying for the year, (due to the fact that have a massive bookshelf full of TBRs) I might have actually broken that vow , if I couldn‘t get my hands on a borrowed copy !!!!
I love this series!
I liked how this one had more plot twists, and we still don't know much about Poppy's blood and who she really is. I liked the romance, and it was definitely more convincing. I loved the banter between all the characters, especially Poppy, Casteel and Kieran. I found the pace to be a mix of fast and slow, but it worked.
I really loved that ending even if it has infuriated me, because now I need the next book like now!
This book definitely dragged compared to the first one. I felt like the first book was just so quick for 600 pages. I still loved the relationship building between “Hawke” & Poppy. Just felt like there was a lot of new terms and bloodlines introduced in this book that it was kind of hard to follow. Still a pick tho! Also the “pretending act” dragged on we all knew they both knew they weren‘t pretending lol. Don‘t want to wait for the 3rd book 😭
Let‘s make a deal that we don‘t borrow tomorrow‘s problems today” pg 515
“Always” he whispered in the breath we shared. “Your heart was always safe with me. It always will be. There is nothing I will protect more fiercely or with more devotion, Poppy. Trust in that - in what you feel from me. In me.” pg 514.
“Make me feel incompetent and kill more than me, Princess”
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I finished my second re-read of A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire! I‘ve been rereading the books to prepare for Crown of Gilded Bones, which I‘m so excited for next month. This book follows Poppy and Hawke going to Atlantia. Poppy must work out Hawke‘s betrayal and sort out her feelings for him. I love Poppy‘s growth and indecision about Hawke. I just love this series.

Loved it! Poppy is true to herself and her feelings. Cannot wait for the next book in this adventure. This series is right up there with Brigid Kemmerer and Sarah J Maas for me.
“If we stopped believing that people could change, then the world might as well burn”
Oh my gods!! This book was sooo good but that ending!! I need the third book now! I am speechless and in awe of this book. This series may be a new favorite. 5 ⭐️‘s for this book. I love it so much!!
