A low pick. It took me a pretty long time to get into this but I wound up on board with it by the end. I liked the writing in general though Daisy herself was a little too faultless to feel 100% like a real person. I‘d probably read another by the same author but not, like, urgently

@catiewithac thank you so much for all the summer goodies! I'm excited to make the wall hanging. As on as we get a day that isn't stupidly muggy and hot I'll be sitting outside reading and drinking from my new cup. Thanks again and thank you @Catsandbooks for hosting! #sliceofsummerswap

I love the first book. Daisy comes across as, okay, a little too perfect... but sympathetic and warm and clever. Alec is, though grumpy, a sweetie at heart. It makes for a lovely outing into a cozy mystery.

As I recall, I got annoyed with the series repeatedly having Daisy stumbling over murders, BUT for now I am having fun and will reread the second too.

Not sure if I'm going to reread the whole series and then start reading the books I hadn't got to before, but I kind of had the itch to revisit so I just went with it today, and I'd read half of this before I knew it!

The first book of what seems like a fairly long lived cozy mystery series. An easy read which is set in the 1920s - one of my favourite time periods for cozy mysteries for me. 😁
Will be following this series along for a bit to see what Miss Dalrymple gets up to.

Started listening to this cozy historical mystery. Had my eye on this series for a while, 🤞 it‘s enjoyable!
Apologies fir the blurred image!

Librarybelle I listened to the first six or seven in the series...whatever was available through the library. I enjoyed them, but will have to switch over to books to continue on with the series. 4y
Andrew65 @Librarybelle Currently I think my library has the first 2. Good to hear you enjoyed them. 4y
TheAromaofBooks It's a long series, so some were stronger than others, but I overall really enjoyed these as well. Daisy is independent without being obnoxious. 4y

I love when I find a new cozy mystery series with a female lead. Daisy Dalrymple is on assignment for Town and Country magazine when a suspicious death upends the manor she has been sent to photograph. A few candid shots of the family reveal that the death of a visiting earl may have been less accidental than some wish to believe.

For the most part this was a decent book - an easy read with a likeable main character - but I really disliked the last few chapters. The conclusion was way too drawn out, and I did not like what the characters chose to do once they solved the murder.

Cute, and an easy read while recovering from the flu, but overall just so-so.

Working on a rather dull project for work, so I tried the audio version of this, but the narrator‘s accent is weird and too hard to listen to. I think they‘re trying for the sort of New England affectation that Winchester has in MASH, but...ugh. Back to my Laura Ingalls Wilder I go. Ordering this one from the physical library instead.

So I've been in the mood for cozy mysteries, but I'm also really picky about them too. So this book was a breath of fresh air! It was super cute! Nothing felt rushed or out of character, infact I ended listening to the audio in just 2 days. I even like the historical part of it. I would definitely recommend this to mystery lovers, and historical fiction lovers

This was a cute little cozy mystery. Likable main character Daisy who seems to end up helping solve the murder mystery. Excited to read the next book in this series soon.

A charming cosy mystery set in the 20s. Good for those who enjoy Rhys Bowen's Royal Spyness series.

Librarybelle I enjoy Daisy Dalrymple! I listened to the first several of the series on audio. Definitely need to get back to the series. 7y
Faibka Nice touch with the gloves and hat! 😉 7y

I have eclectic reading plans this weekend. I'm currently finishing my #gameoftomes book, then plan to move onto Vol 2 of Bitch Planet and Death at Wentwater Court, which I already had to return once to the library unread because someone else had a hold...

Thanks for the chance to participate in the #weekendgiveaway, @Liberty

#JubilantJuly #day12 #Cheerful I'm not much for happy books.I tend to go for the crime, dramas, thrillers or high fantasy rather than the chicklithappy clappy stuff.Daisy Dalrymple is the most cheerful character I've ever read though, she's pretty, cheerful & so sweet she'd give you cavities. But she also attracts trouble with a capital T, managing to fall over dead bodies on a regular basis. But she's cheerful whilst doing so. I'd probably smack her.

#Characters2017 #day13 #TotalBetty Daisy Dalrymple is definitely a Total Betty. To me, Betty is sweet & cute and very family oriented, which describes Daisy to a T. She's independent, very honest & the kind of girl that everyone confides in, which comes in handy in her job as a reporter, plus her unofficial job helping out her now husband, Detective Alec Fletcher.

The Easter Bunny disguised as an Amazon delivery person brought these to me this morning 📚. After seeing Lizpixie's posts about the Daisy Dalrymple series, I knew I had to try them. Also, I've been watching the Vera series on TV and have been trying to get the books. Not all of them are available yet in the trade paperback format, so I'm just picking them up as I can. #bookmail

The first book in the Daisy Dalrymple series is simple & sweet, very "British" cozy mystery, much in the vein of M.C.Beatons Agatha Raisin & Australia's very own Phryne Fisher series & Rowly Sinclair & all of them are an homage to Dame Agatha, Sir Conan Doyle & P.G.Wodehouse.
Daisy arrives at the stately home having taken a commission to write a story about Wentwater Court, but one of the guests is found dead the next morning, floating in the pond.

Lizpixie Oh, BTW it's 5am here so it's kept me up all night reading it. 😳 7y

#riotgrams #day15 #booksandtreats This is my preferred treat when reading. If I had to choose just one nice food to have for the rest of my life, it would be Icecream. I've spoiled myself though, I can't eat cheap Icecream anymore which drives the hubby nuts. I'm happy eating my $10 tub of Maggie Beer and buying books, at least I'm not wasting money on drink, gambling or other vices.

Joanne1 Oh Maggie's ice cream is unbeatable!! I only eat the expensive stuff too. 7y
