This was precious! Great mental health focus without being depressing or a drag, and a fantastic love story to boot. Loved the way it pointed out that your original plan for life doesn't have to be the one you stick with as things change. #yalit #yaromance

How we feeling about this adaptation news, YA Nation?? I am not typically too excited in general about film adaptations of books I enjoy, but I think this is some stellar casting. #YA

This was so sweet! A very enjoyable and light teenage rom com. Warning don‘t read this while you are hungry…the food descriptions never stop 😅

🌸 Yes! Even if it‘s just a paragraph or a page.

🌼 I always read a little before I sleep. It‘s a great way for my mind to wind down. I also read during my lunch break while at work. Tip: Have something to read (doesn‘t matter what format) right at your fingertips wherever you are, we live in a modern world and have no excuses.

🌺 Usually mystery or fantasy. On occasion, I default to a beloved childhood favorite. Thanks for the tag @Eggs

Eggs You‘re most welcome 🙏🏻 Thanks so much for playing!! 2y

I loved this book so much!! I couldn‘t wait to see how it ended! So good!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a free spot on my #BookSpinBingo board. I forgot to keep track of how many hours it took me to read it, but I‘d guess about four.

TheSpineView Great job! 2y
Clwojick Stacked! 2y
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Also, as a side note, I use pages to track my readathon time because I snatch reading time wherever I can find it in little 5-10 minutes batches through the day. So I just estimate time based on pages read! 2y

My sister-in-law was a first generation Cuban American, so I was familiar with a lot of the food the main character Lila was talking about. It made me really want some Cuban food while I read!

Lila's family sends her to stay with her aunt in England for the summer to process what Lila refers to as the Trifecta- the death of her Abuela, her boyfriend breaking up with her, and her best friend completely changing the plans they had for college.

Velvetfur That sounds like an enjoyable read 😊 3y

My afternoon read. I have guava paste but I don't have the puff pastry, or I'd make guava pastelitos to go along with my book.

Emilymdxn This cover is so gorgeous! 3y

I loved that this book makes you so hungry. The romance was cute. I loved her passion for cooking/baking and wanting to change traditions up. I loved the mental health part of this book. It‘s a cute, fast read.

I encountered a few rough patches w Lila (I appreciated how she didn't let anyone run roughshod over her agency or feelings but she sure didn't notice how often she did that to others) but overall enjoyed this. I liked all the supporting cast (esp Orion), the very visual descriptions of both Miami and Winchester, and the food! Made me so hungry! Bottom line: good story of a girl w WONDERFUL friends & family figuring out what she wants from life.

Can I absolutely hate when the book arrives and it has a sticker for someone‘s book club just because they‘re a celebrity. I hate the stickers and I hate that they automatically are on a cover of a book. Give me the option of having this or not don‘t just choose for me stupid stickers. Thank goodness for hairdryers that remove the finicky ones.

TheAromaofBooks Totally agree! At least it's a sticker, though - I got a book with a round red circle that says “Great Price!“ on it - and it's actually PRINTED ON THE COVER! 3y
TheNerdyProfessor I also hate stickers but know they can really help boost sales, especially for lesser known authors. 3y
umbrellagirl I dislike stickers about as much as I dislike movie tie-in book covers! 🤦🏻‍♀️ 3y

TheSpineView Stickers on books make me angry! 😡 3y
candority There are so many celebrity book clubs with “stickers” printed on the cover. It drives me nuts. If it was on the back cover, it wouldn‘t be so bad, but right on the front cover almost takes away from the author and their accomplishments? I don‘t care if Reese Witherspoon or Oprah or Jenna or whoever approves! 3y
Moonprismpower @TheAromaofBooks @TheNerdyProfessor @umbrellagirl @TheSpineView @candority I mean I totally get boosting booksales. But it should be a removable sticker! I should need a scraper, a hairdryer, goo gone or anything. And I wouldn‘t mind if it was on the back cover. And yes the book to film covers are lame and are outdated quickly. But so are these book clubs and their stickers. Also does anyone actually think teens know who Reese Witherspoon is? 3y
maich I hate stickers too. 3y
candority It definitely is a big sales booster, but there has to be a better, less obtrusive way to do it! How has sticker technology not progressed to the point where they are always easily removable? 😂 3y
magyklyXdelish I hate that too. There‘s 2 bookstores I frequent that put their own stickers for price and barcode on them and one of them is easily removed no problem but the other leaves residue :( 3y

This book read like another I enjoyed in 2017- North Of Happy By Adi Alsaid only from a female POV instead of male. Both enjoy cooking/baking and needed to leave their homes in order to cope with stages of grief after life changing events. Both found refuge in the kitchen filling up others physically while refueling their souls emotionally. Both have a hint of romance but not that consume the storyline. Experiencing other cultures in order to heal

I really enjoyed Reese‘s YA pick this month. Lila Reyes is spending the summer in England. This wasn‘t her plan. But when her best friend moves away after graduation and her boyfriend breaks up with her she just falls apart. Her parent are worried about her mental health so they send Lila to England to stay with family friends. What she doesn‘t expect is finding herself and what she wants to do with her life. I loved her relationship with Orion!
