No One Escapes the StillnessClare remembers the cold. She remembers abandoned cars and children's toys littered across the road. She remembers dark shapes in the snow and a terror she can't explain. And then...nothing. When she wakes, aching and afraid in a stranger's gothic home, he tells her she was in an accident. He claims he saved her. Clare wants to leave, but a vicious snowstorm has blanketed the world in white, trapping them together, and there's nothing she can do but wait.At least the stranger seems kind...but Clare doesn't know if she can trust him. He promised they were alone here, but she sees and hears things that convince her something else is creeping about the surrounding woods, watching. Waiting. Between the claustrophobic storm and the inescapable sense of being hunted, Clare is on edge...and increasingly certain of one thing: Her car crash wasn't an accident. Something is waiting for her to step outside the fragile safety of the house... something monstrous, something unfeeling.Something desperately hungry. Also By Darcy Coates: The Haunting of Ashburn House The Haunting of Blackwood House Craven Manor The House Next Door

I have been having one hell of a time coming up with a TBR for #WinterGames2021 I'm not big on holiday romances or cozies but nothing I own looked good either so....fuck it. Let's give it a shot!

I pretty much looked for whatever didn't look horrible from the library, Hoopla and KU and selected a bunch. If all else fails, I'm going to try any #bookspin and #doublespin picks I missed over the year 😅

#bookspinbingo @TheAromaofBooks @Clwojick

FantasyChick Some of their actually ended up sounding pretty good and I'm kind of really excited for Coates so this might be a good breach of comfort zone....sort of 🤣 #MistletoeManiacs 5d
Clwojick I have Five Total Strangers on my list too! ❤️ 4d

tdrosebud Good luck! 4d
Sresendez12 Skipping Christmas is one of my favorites! I‘ve read it and listened to the audio. Plus I absolutely love the movie! 4d
TheAromaofBooks I never used to like holiday romances and never read Christmas books at Christmas time particularly... but the last couple of years I don't know what has gotten into me! I can hardly wait to read as many cheesy, predictable holiday romances as I can! 😂 4d
FantasyChick @Clwojick I've seen it on a few lists so I'm hoping it's a decent read for everyone! 4d
FantasyChick @Sresendez12 I got the audio for it! I watch the movie almost every year so it's about time I got the book read 🤣 4d
FantasyChick @TheAromaofBooks I'm the complete opposite. I used to love the cheesy romances and would devour them! I wish I could remember the holiday ones I used to like because I would just reread those 😂 4d

As Halloween ‘21 draws to a close…
I finished my #LMPBC #GroupW book already! Such a quick read… more in the book 🤍🥶💙 Though I‘ll add that it kept me cold while reading it, despite 70-degree temps today!

And I‘ve finished the last book in Round 4 of #cbbc #CoffeeBeanBookClub !! 🥲☕️🔪📖🤎

Book 18 in October themed reads. Y‘all I stayed up way to late reading this one. If you want creepy story this is the start of a three book series you will want to read. Yes, it has a cliffhanger but trust me you won‘t be mad about it. Off to start the next book. This is atmospheric, creepy, suspenseful and I love the two characters!

I love Darcy Coates! This is one of my birthday purchases. My man always gets me a gift card because he can‘t keep up with which books I have or don‘t have.

BrittanyReads I've never read her, but want to! What's a good title to start with?? 4mo
DeeLew @BrittanyReads I have really liked everything of hers but Haunting of Ashburn House is probably a great start. Creepy gothic horror without any graphic violence. 🖤 4mo
BrittanyReads Sounds perfect! I love gothic stories! Thank you ☺️ 4mo
Texreader Is a happy birthday in order? If so, I hope it was marvelous! End good for your man. I have to promise to keep Amazon up-to-date so mine knows what to buy. 4mo

This book felt manufactured, like one of a million lemon candies on an assembly line. There was nothing spectacular about it. The writing was ok but not memorable. I did like the MC however; you could sense her fear but that was really the only positive aspect. I definitely don't like books (like this) that don't explain why or how something happened. It could also use a more appropriate title.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Creepy book that caught me from the beginning. Clare is trying to get to her Aunt and take her to her sister‘s bunker because the world is falling apart. She wakes up in a house with a stranger after he claims he found her in her car that she had wrecked. Her memorial is splotchy. Can she trust this stranger? Where was she heading and why?

This book was creepy! Something bad is going down in the cities of the world. The MC is on her way to her sister's when she gets in a wreck & can't remember what was going on, how her wreck happened, how she got her injuries, or how she ended up in a secret mansion in the woods w/a strange man. There's ample suspense while waiting for the reveals because there're so many ways it could go. I won't be reading the sequel, but I enjoyed this one.

KristiAhlers I just started this one tonight! So far I‘m totally hooked. 2mo
BookDragonNotWorm @Katbooklover This one drew me in with sharpened claws! I don't remember loving where it went, but there's no denying this author knows how to get under your skin! And just because she didn't take it where I wanted doesn't make it any less of a stellar read, I still remember how creepy this one was which is saying a lot! 😱 2mo
KristiAhlers @BookDragonNotWorm YES! I‘m almost done with the first in the series and I have the next one ready to go. She does creepy in a way that is delicious when you‘re going for a creepy read. 2mo

⭐⭐⭐⭐I really enjoyed this book, it's my second reading by Darcy Coates. Clare is snowed in with a man she doesn't know and starts seeing things. Also she's trying to remember what happened before she arrived at the mansion and why her body has deep cuts and scratches. Clare is terrified and wants out. Darron has secrets of his own and she doesn't know how to feel about him.

I can always trust Darcy to pull me out of a reading slump! Her stories are so suspenseful. I don‘t know how she does it but she‘s able to make me feel like I‘m in one of her stories with things that are made for nightmares. Hopefully I can get another couple books in before the end of the month!

I normally love Darcy Coates so this one was a bit so so for me. I felt it was trying to combine her normal haunted house style with romance, a gothic family tale and an apocalyptic event. Not sure if I liked it enough to get the second one.

This book was recommended to me by a fellow Bookstagrammer. While I was hesitant to read it, I ended up enjoying it. I finished it in a few hours. There‘s a supernatural twist which made it fun to read and a little dark. I can‘t wait to read the next book in the series.
