Sorry for the delay but this is headed your way Carrie!

I'm not entirely sure what I just read lol. Equal parts anti-war satire, social critique, musings on family & dealing with grief, ending with a fever dream of revelations...this book was indeed weird & lacked cohesiveness, but I like weird books! I've heard his non-fiction reads better. He has some powerful 1-liners & I felt some emotion towards the end, so I do see potential! Maybe ⭐️⭐️💫?

CSeydel Ack, I need to get a move on - I‘m still reading 3w
lele1432 @CSeydel I did feel like that one needed a lot of focus to take it all in! 3w

Welcome to Night Vale | Joseph Fink, Jeffrey Cranor

Hi #lmpbc #GroupW reading buds! Here‘s a stack of choices I was considering. Let me know what you think!!

BethM I‘ve tried to get through Nightvale 3 times and haven‘t been able to. I‘d give it a shot if that‘s what everyone else wanted. My pick would be Altered Carbon but good choices! (edited) 1mo
SarahHarts_books I read Gold Fame Citrus and hated it. I had the hardest time getting through it. The actual story line would've been ok, but there were just pages and pages on nonsense. I don't know, maybe you'll have an easier time reading it. But I have been wanting to read Vox that looks good! 1mo
cobwebmoth I haven't read any of them, so I'm totally open to whichever one you pick. 1mo
Chrissyreadit I‘ve not read any of them. I‘m open to consensus or your choice 1mo

#lmpbc #GroupW Here are my sci-fi picks. I own the two books pictured but plan on buying Recursion at some point anyway. Hitchhikers would only be the first book obviously not the whole series. Let me know your thoughts.

ETA: I‘ve never read any of these.

Chrissyreadit I‘m not a fan of hitchhiker. Tried to read it and just could not. I could be interested in any of the others though. 1mo
Avanders Ooh fun picks! I‘m suuuuuper geeked to read 1mo
Chrissyreadit @Avanders @BethM that was my BOTM pick. I did enjoy Dark Matter. 1mo
BethM @Chrissyreadit if you had wanted to put it In Your picks I can always remove it from mine! 1mo
Avanders @Chrissyreadit I *loved* Dark Matter. And I haven‘t read the Pines book, but I liked the tv series (and I know there were great deviations 😁). @MaleficentBookDragon is also a huge Crouch fan ☺️ (edited) 1mo
BethM @Avanders I only picked up Dark Matter on your recommendation and ended up really enjoying it! 1mo
Chrissyreadit @BethM I‘m pretty easy going- you are on the ball so see what you choose, and I will go from there. I‘m wondering about some classic sci fi, but not sure if too long- like 1mo
Chrissyreadit Or something by Octavia Butler 1mo
Chrissyreadit @Avanders what is Pines? 1mo
BethM @Chrissyreadit those all sound great! While I‘d like to read Dune, it may be a bit ambitious for a one month read. 1mo
Avanders I‘m so glad you enjoyed it, Beth 😊😊 1mo
Avanders Ooh Nyxia is so good @Chrissyreadit (though I “read” most of it via audiobook!). Pines = 1mo
Chrissyreadit @BethM ha! I do agree. I even considered a re read of Stainless Steel Rat- it‘s been 30 years since I read it. I‘m in agreement shorter is better but I need to explore. Maybe 1mo
Chrissyreadit @Avanders you are the reason Nyxia is on my TBR! PS- just sent you an email 1mo
MaleficentBookDragon @Avanders is right I love Crouch. I read the Pines Trilogy in a weekend. I couldn't put them down. I was hooked from that moment on. 1mo
cobwebmoth I haven't read any of the ones you've pictured. I'd be fine with any of them 1mo
cobwebmoth Ack! It posted my comment before I'd finished! I'll try to get a list together and posted tomorrow. 1mo
Avanders @Chrissyreadit oh nice! Then I extra hope you like it 😁😁 1mo
collegecatlady I‘ve read Recursion but I‘d be fine with any of the other three! 1mo

#lmpbc #groupW picks

@lele1432 the tagged book is coming your way! ☺️ I enjoyed this one. Some parts reminded me of Anthony Ray Hinton's The Sun Does Shine.

Really enjoying the experience of reading as a group so far! No wonder #lmpbc is so popular! ❤️

Thank you @arubabookwoman @CSeydel and @lele1432 for these wonderful picks! ❤️

lele1432 Awww yay I'm so excited!! 🤗 1mo

I've had so much going on this month as my grandfather got ill suddenly & passed away, so I never got around to reviewing this. Overall, I admired the rich history, lush atmosphere, & the beauty in the writing. It was a bit tedious, with lots of description, shifting timelines, & multiple characters introduced. The MC was hard to connect with. An intricately written novel that requires a high degree of focus from the reader. 3.5 ⭐️!

lele1432 @CSeydel I hope you received it! 2mo
CSeydel Oh yes - it arrived! I have been out of town, but my husband said it was delivered 👍🏻 2mo

#lmpbc My book is on its way to Jee-sorry for the delay in sending it. Unfortunately, I didn‘t care for it. I think it‘s meant to be an anti-war satirical novel, but it fell utterly flat for me. Wish I had picked a different book. Hopefully, one of the other participants in #GroupW will find something of redeeming value in it. @Jee_HookedOnBookz @lele1432 @CSeydel

arubabookwoman BTW, the background in the photo is the view from the new apartment in downtown Seattle we moved to 2 weeks ago. The 2 buildings are Amazon‘s corporate headquarters. The building under construction is another Amazon building, which my husband was the architect for. We will be able to watch its progress as my husband undergoes his treatment. 3mo
lele1432 Oh wow! That's very cool about the building construction. I wish your husband all the best in treatment!! 3mo
Liz_M I hope the move went well and that life is less stressful now. Best wishes for a successful treatment. 3mo
Jee_HookedOnBookz Looking forward to reading it! Sorry you didn't enjoy it... Hopefully the next one will be better! Also wishing you all the best in your new place! And wowwww so close to Amazon's HQ! 😊👍🏼 3mo
Jee_HookedOnBookz @arubabookwoman thank you for mailing the book! Looking forward to reading it :) 3mo

Forgot to take a picture before mailing, but it's headed your way @CSeydel to arrive by Apr.1st!

I hadn't kept up with the Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria, but this book made me do some research. The short, vignette style chapters sharpened the narrative focus for me. A "quick" read, although the subject matter is heavy. Left me with lots of questions about human depravity, martyrdom, brainwashing, & survival. 4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#lmpbc #groupw #round5

CSeydel Thanks @lele1432 I received it today! And I apologize @arubabookwoman that I haven‘t mailed mine yet - I was sick last week and didn‘t finish reading it. I‘m usually very good about staying on schedule, honest! I plan to mail it this week. 4mo
lele1432 @CSeydel oh good!! 😊 4mo

@Jee_HookedOnBookz look what I found! It came super fast! (I actually think it arrived yesterday, but got put aside with some Amazon orders 😅) I looove the bookmark, card, and notebook you included! Thank you! Can't wait to dive into this! Now I just need to send my book! 😬

#lmpbc #round5 #groupW

Jee_HookedOnBookz Yayyyy so glad it arrived! Oh I replied your email too 😊❤️ 4mo
lele1432 @Jee_HookedOnBookz ah I need to check my email! 🤗 4mo
Jee_HookedOnBookz @lele1432 Kaleah do you read on kindle too? 4mo
See All 6 Comments
lele1432 @Jee_HookedOnBookz yes I do! Kindle and I recently started getting into Apple books now that it's been updated. 4mo
Jee_HookedOnBookz Are there better choices on Apple? 4mo
lele1432 @Jee_HookedOnBookz No, the selection is actually somewhat less than Kindle...Not as many are formatted for Apple but you can find most on there. I just prefer the user interface of Apple books. I find it cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing to read on, and easier to shop sales! Amazon is losing my 💸💸 by making me hunt for daily deals and forcing me to go outside of Kindle to make purchases lol. (edited) 4mo
