I couldn't decide which dragon book to have as my #LetterD, so I found this omnibus edition on the net.

Looking through my books beginning with D, I seem to have an extraordinary number of books with Death, Dying, or Dead in the title 😁

This was my first thought for the prompt #dragons for #tropesinaugust. I read the first book ages ago- decided then that the series wasn‘t for me. But it is very popular and many readers are devoted fans! 😀

Klou Awesome!! Another perfect choice! 👌🐲❤ 4y

The books that first got me hooked on reading . One of the few sets of books I‘ve read more than 3 times.

speljamr This book was also the one that sucked me into reading. Ever since this book I have never, ever, been without a book in my hands. 5y
BillBlume Frankenstein was the novel that turned me into a reader, but Dragonflight was the one that made it stick. My wife Sheri and I loved this trilogy. 5y

#Pern has been my favorite off-world series since I first read Dragonflight 25 years ago, & was the first to come to mind for the prompt #GiveawayArtemis. (Can you tell I prefer the Anne-books to the Todd-books? 😉)

Thanks for doing these excellent giveaways, @Liberty - you are the soul of generosity to share your books with us!

llwheeler I thought about Pern for this too, but couldn't decide which book to use - I like your way! 6y
moranadatter Yay! Another Pern fan! I‘m just a couple of years behind you. I first read Dragonsong 23 years ago and quickly devoured all of the rest of the books I could get my hands on. 6y

Hi friends, I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in a #scifi / #fantasy book swap. 🤔 I've been thinking about hosting one, only rules being that the book (or books 😘) must be loosely #sciencefiction or fantasy. Any interest? #bookswap #dragons #bookmail

BookishTrish I'd be more interested in a monthly thing like Litsy goes postal but with sci-fi 7y
Jabberwocky @BookishTrish .... sorry to be so awkward but what exactly does litsy goes postal entail 😅😅 7y
BookishTrish @Jaberwocky Instead of a one-time exchange small groups are paired together. Everyone chooses a book and keeps the title secret. Person A sends their book to B who sends theirs to C and so on. Everyone gets a month to read their selection and then they pass the book they received along. 7y

ReadingRover I'd be into it!!! 7y
Jabberwocky @BookishTrish hmmm that seems a little ambitious for me to host, but if the swap does well I might give it a try. ☺️ 7y
Jabberwocky @ReadingRover I think I'm going to set something up; 🚀🐲 7y
ReadingRover @Jaberwocky Awesome let me know! Tag me or message me on Goodreads. I hate that you can't message on here!!! 7y

This one came down to a tie between two very different worlds.

1. The DragonRiders Of Pern because who doesn't want to be a dragon Rider?
&
2. The Lord Of The Rings books so I could live in Rivendell or Lothlorien with the elves!

#readathonblob @Liberty These are the physical books in my Dragonriders of Pern series & The tower & Hive series. The very first fantasy book I ever read was The Rowan and when I finished that series I found her world of Pern & never looked back. I have many scifi/fantasy loves-it is definitely my wheelhouse-but you never forget your first ☺

The gorgeous cover of my People of Pern book. I love that on the right you have Master Robinton serenading Lessa & F'lar while down at the other end you have the artist Robin Wood working on these wonderful Pern portraits with Anne looking on & enjoying a glass of wine (the beautiful lady standing & looking on is Anne's daughter, Georgeanne Kennedy).

Clare-Dragonfly Wow! So cool! Robin Wood is a friend of a friend--maybe I will meet her someday... (edited) 7y
Redjewel_7734 @Clare-Dragonfly then you can introduce me! 😂 Her artwork is so beautiful in this collection of portraits 😍 7y

You can find all different kinds of people in the world of Pern. Some like the #muscles of someone like Toric (top right); however, though he may have the body he fails to back it up-he's petulant, misogynistic, & pretty much an all-around jerk. I'll take someone who flexes his mind & character muscles, like Robinton (lower left) or F'lar (lower left). #aprilbookshowers

Redjewel_7734 & in case anyone is wondering, these pics come out of book by Robin Wood & Anne McCaffrey titled The People of Pern. Wood did the gorgeous artwork of the significant characters of the early works of the Pern series; McCaffrey wrote a one page character brief for each portrait. This is one of the gems of my collection😍 7y

howjessicareads Madeleine L'Engle is brilliant @Leniverse! It was a trilogy when I was a kid, now it's a quintet. :) I still need to get to the last 2! 7y
Leniverse Somehow Madeleine L'Engle has never been translated to Norwegian so I only heard of her as an adult. Fortunately my kids are bilingual so I get to read both Norwegian and English language books/translations with them. A Wrinkle in Time is on my list of books to come, but I thought it was only one book! 7y

#FunFridayPhoto: I devoured Anne McCaffrey's Dragonrider books as a kid. They were definitely some of the first "adult" books I read, if not the first. She had strong women to look up to and DRAGONS. If it had even the hint of a dragon or dinosaur-like creature in it, I wanted to read it. These sent me down a long road of badass female fantasy enjoyment. ? #ReadWomen

Claireluana Classics! I loved them too! 8y
