This book can be used to explore themes of intelligence, teamwork, and the importance of diverse skills and abilities
The Mysterious Benedict Society is a clever tale of gifted children embarking on a mission to save the world. It encourages critical thinking, teamwork, and the value of individual talents. I would definitely use this in the classroom because it promotes discussions on problem-solving and collaboration
#Bookhaul from the charity shops this weekend. Top two are for my partner, bottom three for me 😁
Curious to know what mysterious things will be happening within the Benedict Society. I‘m sure my scholar will share her thoughts and I can‘t wait to hear all about it.
All 3 of my January #Roll100 selections look good!
I'm leaning towards the tagged book but we'll see-I may end up in the mood for a classic or a sea journey by the time I get to reading my book.
@puddlejumper
I've translated the Morse code at the bottom and it says 'Nicholas' 👀 Very interesting...

#StoryGraph: fiction fantasy middle grade mystery adventurous lighthearted mysterious medium-paced
When an advert appears in the newspaper for children to take part in a secret mission, children everywhere sit a series of odd tests. In the end, just Reynie, Kate, Sticky and Constance succeed. They have three things in common: they are honest, talented and orphans. They must go undercover - the fate of the world is at stake ...
Cute middle grade book. I liked the adventure and the story but it dragged on a little too long for me in parts. It just seemed to take awhile to get anywhere. I liked the characters a lot and thought the premise was interesting and fun!
This is adorable! Gang of children, with all the talents that children possess, on a mission to thwart an evil plan. It‘s book one of a series, but it wraps up in a place that you could read this as a stand alone.
This was a delight…makes sense that this library copy is so well-loved and worn. I first met The Mysterious Benedict Society through the Disney+ series, and am delighted to have finally met the source material! My TBR is overwhelming, but I hope to hang out with them again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A delightful, old fashioned type of children's story about plucky orphans each with their own set of skills to use to fight evil! Very funny and moving. I love the message to respect children and honour their intelligence and bravery. Constance was my favourite.
Wonderfully read as an #audiobook by Del Roy.

Thoroughly entertaining. A review suggested this is a mix of Dahl and Dickens, with more of Dahl‘s whimsy than the Lemony Snicket series. An apt description.
There are brilliant orphans and truly evil villains but also much humour, heroics and triumphs along the way. I am hoping that is where it differs from Lemony Snicket - all might just come right in the end!
A long read for Trix but we have eagerly ordered book 2.
Children‘s books often have the most kind people, and I love that they do🥰
Reading by the window on a sunny afternoon when it‘s cold outside is one of my favourite thing to do. 🌤❄️

Just downloaded this #audiobook that was recommended to me by my friend's 12-year-old. Anyone else read this series? #MiddleGrade
This middle-grade mystery series-starter was OK, but I probably won‘t continue reading the series. Read my full review, including a different series recommendation, here https://debbybrauer.org/#the-mysterious-benedict-society

This is what happens when I stop by the library AND Barnes and Noble.
What an excellent caper! The kids were charming and complex, the mystery was just the right amount of twisty, and the language was a delight. The most sinister part was, of course, that the idea of subliminal messaging is completely believable and something we already live with in advertising and media. I would have loved this book as a kid and enjoyed it as an adult. I‘ll be interested to see how the televised version holds up…
I hate giving up, but I‘m officially bailing. This story is slow and the writing is dry. I really hate bailing on books😕
I have been trying to read this book for a month…I‘m on page 200 (granted, I haven‘t had a lot of reading time), and I just can‘t get into it. Do I bail?
Dug this out of deep TBR territory so I could read before checking out the Netflix series. And I do love a good mystery…
My mission is accomplished. I‘ve turned my niece into a book worm. Spent the week at the beach and she was excited to find a LFL on our dog walk, she choose reading over her boogie board and she wanted to go to the local bookstore, where they have a replica lifeguard stand, and she bought the tagged book.
Is anyone else loving the adaptation on Disney+???
#AwesomeApril Readathon
First goal complete: finish reading the tagged book.
Next goal: make a start on Hook‘s Daughter
I know so many people have read this book and I am bit late to the party!
Mystery books aren‘t my thing but I actually really enjoyed this.
A great cast of characters, puzzles to solve and mysteries to unfold.
It reminded me of old fashioned children‘s story telling and had a real elegance to it.
This book was definitely a mixture of kid power, an evil villain and quirky in nature.
Well, I had been on the hold list for the audiobook of this for over a year, and there are 112 people in it after me - so I definitely took my chance to finally hear this story! Definitely enjoyable, I loved the cast of characters, Kate is clearly my favorite. Definitely belongs in that tradition of books about kids with no parents who team up and solve mysteries. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

1️⃣ Beth from Little Women. I would have liked to see what she could have accomplished.
2️⃣ Too many to list but recently the endings from: The Boy at the back of the class and Battle of the Beetles
3️⃣ This isn‘t my normal genre of choice but I‘m intrigued to find put what happens further in the book.
Looking forward to this one... this has been on my TBR list for a while and I finally got to reserve it at the library.

I read this to my fifth grade class. This is a lively mystery that is funny and poignant. My students were laughing out loud, gasping in shock snd even a little nervous. Great, albeit lengthy, introduction to mysteries for 5th-7th graders.
Fun adventure. Pacing, tension and positive messaging makes for an exciting and uplifting story for kids. I will definitely recommend this one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for this kids pick.

“You must remember, #family is often born of blood, but it doesn't depend on blood. Nor is it exclusive of friendship. Family members can be your best friends, you know. And best friends, whether or not they are related to you, can be your family.”
This is the class‘ current read aloud. They‘re loving it.
Time to pick up the pace. I‘m having trouble focusing lately, even though I enjoy this read. Symptom of the times I guess? Anyway, I‘m trying to o read more Juvenile fiction this year, and so far this is a good choice.
I finished it! This was probably not the right time for me to read it, though. I wanted to love this book after hearing about it for years, and I can still see why so many do, especially kids who are used to being the smart ones (and often the lonely ones) at school. I adored many of the characters, and would have liked this a lot as an 11 year old, I think. But as an adult it was just. so. long. #middlegrade #kidlit #notforme
I‘ve been avoiding this book (by which I mean, not carrying it around with me as I move from floor to floor). I finally picked it up this evening and read about 80 pages. The story is picking up, but I still resent how long it is. Almost 500 pages in #middlegrade is just not necessary.
Starting this next #middlegrade adventure with my thunderbuddy Olive #kidlit #dogsoflitsy
I like to read the books my 8 year old is reading so we can talk about them together. I am very much enjoying this one - full of adventure and puzzle solving.
This book is amazing. Zofia had read it and though I would like it, and turns out it was AMAZING! The book is such a page turner and I am planning on reading the whole series.
5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A really funny sometimes dark middle-grade book. I liked the mixture between fantastical and real-life elements of the story. The children in the story kept me laughing and the villains we're creepy. I am happy I waited so long to read it because all of the books are out now I believe so I will be able to continue on with the story I hope the other characters from this book show up in the books to come in this series.
