This is an interesting read. And though the author‘s anthropomorphism was quite annoying, I do now find myself looking at trees in parks, road verges, fields etc and wondering if they are communicating, if they will have a shorter life for lack of a support network, if they were part of a larger wood/forest before space was cleared for housing.
Worth a read if you can cope with the idea that trees may have some sort of ‘brain‘. 😲🌲🌳

I found this book so interesting. How a farm, or estate maybe - it is very large, let it‘s land lie fallow, just grazed by small herds of cows, ponies and pigs. The benefit to the land and huge variety of wildlife it began to support was amazing. #rewilding #ukwilding #Englishnature #biodiversity

I was going to save my #spring choices for #booked2019 till, well, spring. But as we are having balmy days and the flowers and birds seem to think spring has arrived I‘ve gone for it. This Must Be the Place | Maggie O'Farrell
post image

I really enjoyed O‘Farrell‘s writing. She sketches character and places into your minds eye so you can picture them vividly. Some parts admittedly were too long and wordy, but mostly good. A lot of characters come in with no introduction and date of events needs to be kept in view. If the author herself -see above- had to keep a pin board of post-it notes to keep track of the storyline then the reader needs to be alert. #booked2019 #setinireland

Just finished my first audio book. I never realised just how long it takes to listen to book, even though my visually impaired mother used to get them from the library. I‘m not sure I particularly enjoyed the experience although it is useful to be able to listen while doing something else. In my case knitting or ironing. But on the whole I think I prefer a printed book where you can read the exciting bits quickly or reread a sentence you

Soozee particularly savour. The actual storyline was quite intriguing I felt. 8mo
