Untitled A Court of Thorns and Roses
Untitled A Court of Thorns and Roses | Sarah J. Maas
A companion tale to Sarah J. Maas's #1 New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series that takes place several months after the explosive events of A Court of Wings and Ruin Narrated by Feyre and Rhysand, this story bridges the events in A Court of Wings and Ruin and the upcoming novels in the series. Feyre, Rhys and their companions are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it a hard-earned reprieve. Yet even the festive atmosphere can't keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated scars that will have a far-reaching impact on the future of their court.

🛍 Yes! I started early and bought gifts as I saw them throughout the year, and thank goodness for that bc December has not started like I'd planned! 🙃
🛍 🛍 the tagged book is a favorite read of mine near the holidays. Such a cozy read, and the characters shop for Yule.

This book is what I expected, a transition between ACOWAR and what is to come in ACOSF, some peace after the war, the calm after the storm, or before? Only I will know after I finish ACOSF. It does not keep you as engaged as the others but I still think is worth to read as part of the series. Despite the story line, it also has some pretty interesting scenes 😉. Also, a great read around the holidays, since it takes place during Winter Solstice.

I see people‘s initial hesitancy, Through multiple perspectives and no full plot. But that‘s the beauty; as a Christmas special. Where characters finally get to be happy, to start healing, with the most stressful thing being buying gifts. I loved this novella. Best parts was seeing how everyone‘s healing, in own way. I love what Feyre is working towards. Pained for Nesta‘s way. Adored Insight on Cass and Az. #sjm

Cute little Chrismas(-ish) story. There was a lack of plot, but the backstories and long awaited thoughtst made up for it. I'm not a big fan of mutiple POV's, but in this case it had a good reason, which made it work.
All concluded, not my favorite in the series, but a pleasant break from any war or fighting.

The first snow of winter had begun whipping through Velaris an hour earlier.
The ground had finally frozen solid last week, and by the time I‘d finished devouring my breakfast of toast and bacon, washed down with a heady cup of tea, the pale cobblestones were dusted with fine, white powder.

I loved this book because I was already in love with the characters, but it wasn‘t the most exciting thing in the world and took me longer to read despite it‘s shorter length. But it still was super cute and a nice romance break from the classic war and death. The worst part in the book (as with the others) is Nesta and her continually insufferable attitude

I love this whole series as pure selfish escapism, an easy read to a different world when you have so much going on around you . I never understand “literary snobbery “ because surely what makes you happy is the joy of reading what ever genre you like and all any author aspires to is to be well read. Ms Maas has a huge following because she simply writes a good story not rocketscience just a good old fashioned story.

Bklover Whole heartedly agree on the snobbery! 11mo

This book was described to me as the “Hallmark Christmas Movie” of the ACOTAR series. And that is a very apt description. Luckily, I‘m a total sucker for sappy, holiday themed movies and throughly enjoyed reading A Court of Frost and Starlight, even though it was mostly fluff. Very excited to read Nesta‘s character development in the next one. The tension between her and Cassian is giving chills! Photo Credit : Charlie Bowater

Book 4 of the ACTOCAR series is a sweet, brief story in which the Feyre's inner circle each gets a voice in chapters of their own. All are healing from a brutal battle and hoping to restore peace as they celebrate the friendship and family they have created.

I see so many people screaming about how this book is just a waste of time. I see it differently. It is a filler. It tells you the story about how each character is trying to adjust to life after the war. Yes, it's not action-packed, but I was still entertained by it.

4/5⭐️

I didnt think it was possible to love this series anymore but this book topped it for me which now OFFICIALLY makes Sarah J. Maas my FAVORITE Fantasy Author of all time!! The Characters are still so interesting and intriguing to read about. Feyre is still my favorite, i dont think there's anything she can do to make me dislike her.

Bk3 of #FabulousFebruary #readathon was the novella set in-between A Court Of Wings & Ruin & Silver Flames. Ostensibly a holiday book, the war with Hybern is over & the Night Courts inner circle have settled down to their first proper Winter Solstice together. There‘s gifts, fires, wining & dining & lots of merriment for Feyre & her sister Elain, until Nesta, the Dragon lady Archeron sister shows up raining on their parade. It has a charm to it.👇

Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 How are you? 1y
Lizpixie @Andrew65 ehh👐I‘m still here and not even in hospital, so it wasn‘t a huge flare in that regard. Still sucks though. Especially as my long Covid has attached to my nerves and has boosted my Small Fibre & Autonomic Neuropathy insanely. Burning feet that are also numb in parts is a godawful thing, especially in summer! Add in the other symptoms & it‘s miserable. Totally. How are you and your wife doing now? 1y

Andrew65 @Lizpixie Unfortunately that is the reality we are dealing with, COvID is exacerbating the medical conditions we already have and making other viruses worse. Seems to have changed my existing Irritable Bowel into Inflammatory Bowel Disease and now on Drugs that limit my immune system. Feels like lose - lose! Sending you love and best wishes ❤️ 1y
Andrew65 We are both ok. My wife was being investigated for Chronic Kidney Disease but has sent medical profession into touch because just doing different intrusive tests that wasn‘t really even helping the situation and in herself is okay. Sure years on warfarin won‘t have helped. 1y
TheSpineView Love this series! Didn't know you were unwell. How horrible! Hope it improves soon! 1y
Lizpixie @Andrew65 I‘m so sorry about both of you. I know some of how you feel,I have major stomach/intestinal issues due to the autonomic part of my condition,I know exactly how your wife feels, I lost count of the different types of specialists & awful tests I endured in the 3yrs it took me to be diagnosed. And I‘ve been on warfarin for ten yrs now and will be the rest of my life due to two instances of blood clots on my lungs. Fun times.Sending love too (edited) 1y
Lizpixie @TheSpineView thank you lovely. Unfortunately it all feels downhill from here, or maybe I‘m just good at being pessimistic🤷🏻‍♀️ the thoughts are appreciated very much♥️ (edited) 1y
Andrew65 @Lizpixie You sound so similar to my wife, will be just over 10 years since she‘s been on Warfarin for life, following two serious Pulmonary Embolisms, in fact lucky not to have lost her especially on the second one. The most difficult time in my life. This is despite everyone telling her she has no risks for blood clotting!
I think she‘s reached the point to live life and if the worst to happen it is better than being messed around and 👇
(edited) 1y
Andrew65 @Lizpixie ☝️living in misery. God forbid, but of course we know death is there waiting for us all so we know it will happen sometime.
This is partially why I gave up work despite only being 56 so could do things together before it is too late. She is 10 years older than me. Other reason ‘I gave up work was so as not to bring Covid home to her and compound the issues or cause her death prematurely. We very much isolate ourselves.
Sending love ❤️
1y
Andrew65 @lizpixie I‘m like you my issues are digestive, stomach, intestines, and my immune system is my enemy. But of course by controlling that it causes more risks. We just have to make the best of ever day we have and hope there will be many of them going forward. Stay strong and always here if you want to talk. (edited) 1y
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!!! Burning feet sounds terrible!!! I hope you able to find some relief soon ❤ 1y
Lizpixie @Andrew65 oh wow, she sounds like my medical twin! The first embolism nearly killed me, we had to convince the ambo driver to take me to hospital, I was extremely lucky there was a pulmonary doctor in the er that night. He saved my life. Never want to come that close to death again.😣I also had no reason for the emboli, no blood disorders or any sign of where they came from🤷🏻‍♀️And I‘m like you, my immune system & my intestines are psychotic! 1y
Lizpixie @Andrew65 I rarely leave the house anymore either, after having Covid twice already, I‘m terrified of getting it again. I‘ve now got anxiety every time I have to leave the house. Thanks Covid!🖕Sending my love to you both as well. Here‘s to keeping death at bay for a few more decades🥂 1y
Lizpixie @TheAromaofBooks Thanks lovely! They certainly are, it feels like my feet are slowly being roasted over an open flame. Makes it hard to sleep coz it‘s worse at night. One of the many reasons I do most of my reading once the sun goes down. Plus it‘s nice and quiet at 3am!♥️ 1y

The first time I read this book, I was pretty indifferent about it. The second time, I loved it. This time, I‘ve landed in the middle of those.
I do love the look Maas gives to the healing-that-comes-after and the different ways that can show up. And having read the book that follows, this is a good bridge between the first three books & what‘s to come.

This ACOTAR novella bridges the events between the 3rd and 4th book. The gang is still recovering from the war, but also trying to prepare for Winter Solstice.

I didn‘t really see a point to this novella. There are a couple things that are mentioned in the 4th book, but that‘s it. It doesn‘t really advance many of the characters or their relationships, which made it kind of boring.
