I could NOT put this down! The characters come alive in all their hopes and fears. Story is told through the eyes of Mags and her granddaughter, Sara. After Mags dies, Sara comes home to The Hideaway to bring it back to its glory as her grandmother requested in her will. Through this process, Sara begins to discover who her grandmother really is and also to fall in love. My favorite character though may be Allyn.

Loved the book and story. Lauren Denton has a lyrical southern writing style that makes for such an enjoyable read. This is the second book I have read by her and recommend both. This was her debut novel and what an excellent start. It is about relationships, family, and how time, events, and changing perspectives can alter our lives and how we see and understand our loved ones. This would make a great vacation read or any other time too .

I enjoy Lauren K. Denton‘s books & love looking at the covers. Three of her five books feature a front #porch on them. I wouldn‘t mind hanging out on any of these pretty porches.

A sweet story. Dual storylines of a quirky grandmother and her granddaughter. The story is more than just about the romances. It was about the friends that know when to push, when to be silent, and when to hold you when you fall apart.

I have enjoyed all three books I‘ve read by this author, and this was her debut. This one centers around two women, Sara and Mags her grandmother told in alternating chapters. And their family home (The Hideaway) has such a strong presence, it‘s arguably the third center. This is like a coming-of-age story (although Sara is close to 30), in that in learning more about her grandmother (after she dies) she comes into her own. 🔻

This book reminded me of a Hallmark movie. Definitely not my typical read, but yet I kept wanting to keep going rather than put it down. It‘s a tale of a secret love & a life that could‘ve been. I loved the setting of the hideaway, which is whimsical & makes you want to be there.

#insomniareading I‘ve been up worrying about my Mom for over an hour. (She‘s in the hospital, not doing so well, and having two procedures done today.) Finally got up to read. Today at work is probably going to suck.

Light read with a good mix of mystery, history and romance.

This book was a lovely story of a grandmother and grandaughter's relationship. New discoveries and strength that were never known until after it was too late to truly appreciate. Sara was charged with caring for and upgrading her grandmothers pride and joy. She finally learns to live a little while discovering her grandma, Mags life and why she was so quirky. She finds herself and true love on this new chapter in her life. 4/5⭐

As I mentioned before, this is not a must read or mind blowing, but it was an enjoyable read that kept me engaged. I do like Lauren Denton‘s books.

This book is enjoyable, but isn‘t blowing me away or anything. However I WAS pretty excited for the Eddie Vedder reference. 😁😁

This book & the author‘s other 2 books always make my favorite covers lists. I want to sit on the porch & read with the West Indies Crab Salad I made for my recipe/review pairing. 😋

Listened to this book over the weekend. Really enjoyed this story about a woman who inherits her grandmother's house and unravels the story of her grandmother's life.

Amazon keeps recommending this book to me so I finally caved in and got it. I'm only in the beginning but so far I'm enjoying it.

Two endearing heroines make their mark on a dilapidated bed and breakfast just outside a quaint coastal Alabama town. The hideaway brings refuge, comfort, great love, and regretful loss. You will have a hard time deciding which woman you like best-I didn't choose, I liked them both🙂

This is my real-life book club‘s April pick- I was the only one who didn‘t vote for it and while I didn‘t hate it, I‘m very curious to see what the rest of my group thought! This was a quick listen, but a very simple and completely predictable plot. I got some #AudioColoring done with it, but never once did I greatly desire to keep listening... just not for me I guess!

I also like the use of chairs--they make me want to be there, sitting in them. I read the tagged book for review last year and I will be starting Hurricane Season soon for an April blog book tour.

Finished this last night. I liked it. I feel like it could have been a little more emotional. I never really felt the big connection with the love interest so that could have been done a little better I think but overall it was an enjoyable read.

Give me blues, greens, and soft grays and all of the pretty hues in between and I'm happy. Also I think these covers captured the stories inside very well. 💙💚📚I reviewed and enjoyed all of these books this year.

4⭐️ THE HIDEAWAY is creatively told from the two interwoven perspectives of Mag‘s and Sara. The writing is smooth and easy and you'll be turning pages incredible fast. Loved the plot and all the characters. A great book for a breezy afternoon with a tall glass of sweet tea. See full review.

A sweet, easy read about love lost and love found. Sarah learns that her grandmother(Mags) has died and she wishes she would have known more about Mags, which would have explained why she led an eccentric life. Sarah unravels a hidden love that her grandmother had never spoken of. Sarah realizes how much respect she has for her grandmother after learning about her past. And she also learns more about her life in the process.

Sweet Southern debut novel told from the POVs of Sara & her grandmother 'Mags.' Sara leaves her life in NOLA to renovate the B&B in Sweet Bay, AL that Mags leaves her & as the renovations happen (w/help from an attractive contractor) she discovers Mags's secrets as well as herself. What a beautiful Spring day here! Soaking in the rays and watching "my littles" run about. I was so excited to get my hands on this book! I heard nothing but good things, and sure enough from the first page I was hooked.

First, I'm a sucker for dual-time-line stories, and toss a family secret in there? I'm in. Denton's debut features Mags and Sara. Both women, besides being related, are tied to the Hideaway-- a B&B in a little town called Sweet Bay.

Things I loved about this book: the descriptions, the swoony parts, and the food (oh man, this book made me so hungry).
