Although I feel the book started a tad bit slow, I soon found myself engrossed in the continuing story of Asylum. Roux does a great job of building up suspense while also adding humor to the characters conversations. I am excited to continue onto the series to see what kinds of twists and turns await!
I don't think I liked this one as much as Asylum but there were several creepy and slightly disturbing parts in it that made me wonder. Very atmospheric, engaging and quick read.
Hoping to get to the next book soon and check another series completed for #seriesread2021

Getting ready to start! 😁
A return to the asylum. Dan, Jordan, and Abby have tried to let go of what happened over the summer, but mysterious pictures of a creepy carnival, nightmares, and a visit with Felix, send them racing back to the campus just in time for Halloween. I love this series full of the paranormal. 1 more book down for the #scarathlon. +Points (5 Related to Halloween) #TeamStoker
A very fun and enjoyable book. I was curious where the author was planning to go with this one as I felt the first novel was quite complete by itself. However I felt this was a plausible story and didn‘t feel tacked on to the original. It was fast paced and had great visuals, which really enhanced the tale. Still not sure where the author goes with the third, but I‘ll be getting into that soon.
I was afraid the series would get bad the further I read, but I could not put it down I had to keep reading.
I found this book to be a bit better than “Asylum”, even in spite of how the dialogue in the “showdown” scene was a bit cliche. While it‘s not without problems, it was still enjoyable. I rather enjoyed the whole “spooky carnival” subplot, and the twists & turns are quite creative. A breezy read— interesting, but not “scary” (at least for me). Am still eager to read the final book of the trilogy.
My year in books 😀 14 books and a total of 4307 pages! For some this may not be much, but for me it's way above my reading average!
I'm really hoping to finish this book before the year is over 😥 #slowreaderproblems
Sanctum by Madeleine Roux. Trashy YA? Yes (in the sense that the writing isn't Pulitzer Prize level and the story might not be completely air tight). Fun, creepy read? Also yes. I'm a sucker for books with pictures. #guiltypleasure #trashyya #madeleineroux #sanctum #asylum #bookstagram #northerngothic
Currently using my entire Library haul to break in these two music books. I have a competition tomorrow and my accompanist has to use official copies of the music. #library #spinebreaker #music #sheetmusic #musicmajor
I just love this series of books. I am an adult and they scare me! I find myself flying through the pages. I love how the author uses vintage photographs in the book and story.
Roux did a nice job tying in SANCTUM to its predecessor, but to be honest I had a harder time finishing this book than I did ASYLUM. I felt the beginning of the story was not as fast paced, so it took me a bit more time to get into. Once I reached about the 25% mark, however, things started to pick up & I was hooked again. The end of the story also had some really great twists I didn‘t see coming, which is always a plus. Overall, I'd say pick.
This was a pretty good addition to the first book. I enjoyed the first one better. This just seemed to take a while for me to get through. I'll read the next one but I think Poochie and I are going to do something other than YA next. Poochie is exhausted.
Ok Poochie! We somehow have to finish this book, wrap Hanukkah gifts, and clean the house before Hanukkah dinner tonight. Look alive! The joys of an interfaith relationship when Hanukkah starts on Christmas Eve.....
This book was just ok for me. It was predictable and the ending seemed rushed.
#Booktober #CreepyCovers Haven't read them, but they all look creepy indeed.
This was just as good as the first one. Lots of suspense. A quick read and a great ending. I really like this series! I definitely recommend it!
(Book 2 of Asylum series)
Someone is determined to keep the terror alive, sending the teens photos of an old-timey carnival, with no note and no name. Forsaking their plan never to go back, the teens return to New Hampshire College under the guise of a weekend for prospective students, and there they realize that the carnival from the photos is on campus, for the first time in many years.
🌟🌟🌟3/5 not good as the first. But still creepy 😊👍
Started off slow but eventually it picked up and I enjoyed it. It felt unfinished, probably why there's a third book huh?
Sanctum brought even more adventures for Dan and his friends... I enjoyed this book very much and can't wait to find out more about this mysterious world that Madeleine Roux has created.
