I‘ve decided on a reading goal for next year, I think. I‘m going to try and read only books by women. Not necessarily about them but ones written by them. I feel like they aren‘t given enough credit and happen to lose out on more opportunities. Bonus if they are BIPOC. I‘m sure a book or two will slip through but I‘m excited about this one.

So I kind of made a hash of the readathon. I forgot to set a timer so I have no idea how long I read. I did finish Wonder Women and enjoyed it. I‘m almost done with the 2nd Bunburry cozy mystery. I did have a nice time reading and that‘s a win to me. @MrBook

I loved this book! This is a compilation of short bios of diverse women throughout history who have accomplished great things in areas such as science, medicine, espionage, and adventure. It is thoroughly researched, detailed, and inspiring. The author is not objective-there is a snarky, sarcastic tone throughout especially when highlighting how women have been mistreated or overlooked. I definitely think high schoolers would be a great audience.

"Of the more than 5 million U.S. #patents that have been granted since 1790, only about 5 percent have a women‘s name on them. Men often took credit for women‘s #inventions, sometimes at the behest of women of color who feared that white consumers wouldn‘t want to purchase their items."

Great book, only disappointed that the author felt the need to point many of these womens sexual preferences. Who cares if they preferred men, women or both?

Sam Maggs' writing style is unique and a breath of fresh air. It felt like I was sitting down with a friend over a latte discussing why women are so awesome. A great read for girls 14 and up, as well as men and women everywhere. If you're into biographies, science, feminism, and short stories, you should enjoy. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Thanks @jpease89 for the awesome gift!

Such an inspiring book! Each one of the women represented in this book faced incredible challenges, but they also showed us that women can do anything, and not to listen to anything or anyone who tries to hold us back. I am blown away by how much I learnt and how much I loved this book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because this book proves that we (women) can be totally bad-ass. Also, it's kind of sad that I only really knew of two of these women, but I guess that's why Maggs decided the book needed to be written. Everyone needs to know of these women and their amazing contributions to society; their amazing fights; and their amazing ability to be successful no matter the hardships they faced.

drokka Oooooh. I see it's a library book. Which reminds me I have to renew my card tomorrow. Eeep 7y

Loving this book so far! I've only read the section "Women of Science", and it's so inspiring!

Also I have given up on the riotgrams challenge, I missed too many days to catch up. I have been in a reading rut for a couple weeks, but now I'm getting back into it, and Wonder Women was the perfect choice ??

I really liked this. The author's jokey style was difficult for me to get used to but eventually it stopped bothering me. I learned about a lot of amazing women. This is a good overview of their accomplishments but it doesn't go in depth.

Lots of information in this book. A little overwhelming for middle grade and a little childish for high school but still decent overall. The extra resources at the end are on point.

There was a small library book haul today. Went to pick up my transfer/hold for the cookbook, saw the tagged book on the way out & thought it would be a quick, good read & the other 4 came from the library bookstore for $2.25. I read The Passage when it came out & keep telling myself I'll read The Twelve when I find a cheap copy, The Paying Guests & The Wonder have been on my TBR & the yellow spine is pure nostalgia-a Best in Children's Books.📚👍

UnabridgedTomes OMG The Paying Guests. So good. So steamy. Such good story-telling. 7y
LisaJo The Paying Guest. A friend recommended it and it was on my library hold for six months because I wanted the e-book version. It was a slow burn of a read. It was good, but so not what I had expected. Enjoy. 7y
DebinHawaii @UnabridgedTomes @LisaJo I've heard good things. No sure when I'll get around to reading it but I am looking forward to it. 👍📚 7y
