Hercule Poirot, the most famous detective in the world! Give him any case or mystery to solve, he will thwart it by the characteristic application of his 'little grey cells'. Both, Poirot and Hastings are by far the most successful duo! My love for mystery urged me to buy this book and I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed the short stories. Murders, kidnappings, thefts all solved! Agatha Christie can never go wrong! #mystery

Boyfriend says, I can't read all day (I still can't imagine why not), so instead of reading we watch a bit Poirot. 😊 #DavidSuchet

Sadly, neither of these are in the database. They are both fantastic Poirot stories.

Jen, what a lovely beginning to fall! 🍂🍁Thank you so much for your truly thoughtful gifts! English murders and Bryson? Perfect!! My first bookish pillow and your pretty bookmarks! Love your art! ❤️ And your calligraphy on the card is frame-worthy! 😍 Cozy scarf and socks in colors perfect for me! I will definitely be putting my fall mug to use immediately! The chocolates look yummy, I'm currently wearing the salted caramel lip balm 😄, and ...

mabell I can't wait to try the butternut soap - it smells terrific! The dainty coaster (tatted? crocheted?) is so pretty! Did you make it? Oooooo and the maple lights! I've never seen anything like them! What a cool find! It is cloudy here today, and they put out such a cozy glow, I love it! Thank you so much again for everything! And thank you @Avanders for hosting the #fallingforfallswap! Happy Fall! 🍂🍁🍂 1y

One of the books I bought during my birthday book buying spree this weekend. After Sherlock & Watson, Poirot & Hastings may very well be my favorite crime solving duo. It is immensely satisfying to have all of Dame Agatha's Poirot stories in one collection. I'm sure more than one victim was dispatched by #poison
@Cinfhen @Kalalalatja

Kalalalatja I‘m sure you are right! How many books did you end up buying? 😄 1y
vivastory @Kalalalatja 5 😬 but I was also able to buy 13 with money that other people gave to me. I was really really spoiled! 1y
Kalalalatja That‘s wonderful! Everybody deserves books on their birthday 🎉📚 1y

“I cannot eat these eggs. They are of totally different sizes.” 🙄

“..that every hen lays an egg of a different size! What symmetry can there be on the breakfast table? At least they should sort them in dozens at the shop!” 😆

Cathythoughts What is it with Poirot and the eggs 🤷🏻‍♀️He is obsessed 1y
erzascarletbookgasm @Cathythoughts He is a fanatic when it comes to 🥚 and his moustache 🤷‍♀️😁 1y

Thanks for the tag @JenlovesJT47 !

1. I'll go with TV this time and say Poirot.
2. I'm not a big fan of them, but I like bargains, so I've bought a few marked down.
3. Agnes Grey
4. @batsy and anyone else that wants to play along.

batsy Thank you for the tag! Agnes Grey—excellent choice 😍 2y
cobwebmoth @batsy Thanks! I knew that you would be one of the few people to understand that choice.😊 2y

Poirot, like Paris, is always a good idea. I love Christie's short stories best of all.

I‘m quite excited that one of my favourite detectives has made his way back to the big screen but also kind of terrified that it‘s Kenneth Branagh doing it... idk - has anyone watched it?

rabbitprincess I have a friend watching it tomorrow, although she says it will likely be more like hate-watching 😂 2y
Suelizbeth Oh, I need him! Where did you get him! 2y
jpmcwisemorgan The mustache is unacceptable. I‘m still annoyed about it. The movie wasn‘t bad overall. A friend said she thought Branagh was too physically active to be Poirot but that wasn‘t too bad. The mustache... 2y

melissanorr I saw it and didn't love it. 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @melissanorr, that is my fear! Was it the cast or the storyline that let you down? 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @jpmcwisemorgan, I could tell it was wrong from the trailer 😅 how is his accent? 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @rabbitprincess, I feel that! Miss Marple ended up becoming a hate watch for me (only when she was in stories that were not hers) 2y
rabbitprincess @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I had to stop reading the books before watching the show, because I kept yelling at the TV about what they'd changed. (Murder is Easy, I'm looking at you...🙄) 2y
jpmcwisemorgan I think the accent was ok but the mustache had me so distracted I don‘t really know. 2y
Suelizbeth @thegirlwiththelibrarybag OMG! That‘s a dangerous Etsy shop. I may have bought a few things. 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Suelizbeth 😈 glad to be of assistance! I also bought more than one thing when I visited! 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @jpmcwisemorgan, eek! I‘ll try and focus on the accent before I dissolve into moustache rage (it‘ll happen) 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @rabbitprincess, I can‘t remember which ones I found offensive- but there was one with Tommy, Tuppence and Miss Marple that caused me much rage! 2y
melissanorr @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I felt there were too many changes to the story and the acting was fairly atrocious. It was clearly a vanity project for most of the cast and they were too over the top for me. 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @melissanorr, fair enough... hopefully if I lower my expectations I‘ll find it ok?! 2y
melissanorr @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Some of the people I went with enjoyed it so I think it just depends on what you are hoping for. 2y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @melissanorr, absolutely! I've read a lot of her books and watched a fair chunk of the David Suchet stuff so it was always going to be a gamble! I'll report back when I've seen it! 2y

Happy birthday to the Queen of Crime! 🕵🏻‍♀️

I love all of her characters, but I have to say that Poirot squeaks by as my all time favorite characters that she created. Who is yours?

8leagueboot Fall is the perfect season for Agatha Christie. I think I'm going to do a spree of her novels before the new Orient Express movie comes out! 2y
DarcysBookBlog @8leagueboot that sounds like a great idea! Fall and Agatha Christie seem perfect together. 2y

"It is the brain, the little gray cells on which one must rely. One must seek the truth within--not without." ~ Poirot

"Put that in your mustache and smoke it." ?

"I do not argue with obstinate men. I act in spite of them."

?Poirot is just magnificent.?

Cathythoughts We just read Evil Under The Sun for our Bookclub. And planning a trip to the cinema for Murder On The Orient Express. I believe Ragnar Jonasson is very inspired by Agatha ( makes perfect sense) trapped by snow ❄️❄️❄️ 3y
thebookdiviner I've only read a couple of Christie's books (and loved them) but I absolutely adore the Poirot movies 3y
Jess_Read_This @erzascarletbookgasm Thank you! Can you believe the bottom box was given to me by a coworker from her mother's book collection? And the top box I found still sealed at a thrift store for $.40?!!! (edited) 3y
Jess_Read_This @Cathythoughts How neat! Your bookclub sounds like a great one to be a part of! Jonasson is definitely inspired by Agatha Christie- I see similar elements in plot craftsmanship. He translates her books into Icelandic. I read an interview where he said it can be a struggle at time to translate because some words in her books do not have an Icelandic equivalent. So interesting! 3y
Jess_Read_This @thebookdiviner I'm still a relative Agatha Christie newbie and haven't read nearly all her stuff. I love the movies though too and the Masterpiece Miss Marples! 3y
Cinfhen I know there are tons of Littens drooling right now 😉💕 3y

Ich habe mich nun doch entschlossen, die komplette Fischer-Ausgabe wegzugeben. Die vielen Fehler machten die Bücher trotz ihrer inhaltlichen Stärke nicht mehr lesenswert. 😑

So I decided to give away all my books published by Fischer. So many mistakes within these books made me really dislike the books even though the plots were so delightful. 😑

Bambolina_81 That quotation is hilarious 😂 3y
Sarah83 @Bambolina_81 I like this quotation so much, as it really points out, how Poirot thinks 😉 3y

JPeterson Ahh! Seriously, this is perfect! I love Agatha Christy! Thank you for thinking of me, @Sarah83 😊 and @julesG if you unearth it, I wouldn't say no (but please don't go into overdrive to find it). 😄 3y
Sarah83 @JPeterson You're welcome 😍 3y
julesG @JPeterson I'm having a look at the book boxes this morning anyway. So no big deal. Will let you know if I found it. 3y
