⭐⭐⭐⭐ I was rather surprised by how much I liked this book. And even though I figured out the ending I did appreciate the build up and I did love the characters and I did like the unique ending. #WouldRecommend

Ps- Alexander was my favorite.

I got this as an audiobook and bc it's written in prose I think it would be better if this one was read and not read to me. So I'm putting this one back on the shelf until I can get my hands on a copy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Alright, here we go...I enjoyed the short stories individually but I didn't really enjoy the book as a whole. I kept getting involved with these characters and then getting emotional whiplash every time the stories switched to a new one. The writing was amazing, I just couldn't handle being jerked around.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 This book was well written and the characters very likeable. I just sincerely didn't like the premise of the book, I felt like I was dropped in the middle of someone's life and was never really given the first half of the conversation....

????? I got this as an audiobook and I'm very glad I did bc it was a full cast. This book, oh this book. It was a true love story and a perfect example of "three sides to every story: mine, yours, and the truth." I simply LOVED THIS BOOK. #recommended

I really just couldn't get a hold of this book. It started off with one plot that branched out into a bunch of dead end tributary storylines that I didn't find useful at all. This book might be for someone else, but for me it was a DNF.

This book is amazing, but you do have to play close attention bc her stories are a bit tangential. But what I loved most about this book was that she explained mental illness with such elegant clumsiness, and decadent truth. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This book was a good read and I really liked the characters BUT I felt like I didn't really get a chance to know them bc this was such a short story. I also, bc I have read another story by this author, am beginning to dislike the open endings he's so fond of. I like that he leaves it up to the readers but sometimes closure is needed to complete a story. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Long Way Down | Jason Reynolds

This was beautifully written in verse, I had it as an audiobook read by the author, so I got to hear it as intended. The ending was definitely something to think about seeing as how it was open ended and leaves it up to the readers judgement as to what happens.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book was definitely gripping, to the point that I jumped right into the sample of the next one to see if it was worth finishing the series. I would highly recommend it if you like books that are well written, well rounded, and that you can't get ahead of.

Got my hands on this shorty, taking a break from the pedophilia of Lolita and The Real Lolita. I am 9 chapters in and loving it. It helps that it falls in that realm of social justice that I've acquired a taste for and that Angie Thomas recommends it.

blurb
jouleian

Well, now that I've finished Lolita...I figured I could try my hand at this. And the gross part is she is actually mentioned in Nabokov's novel by name, towards the end.

I'm torn as to how to rate this. This book definitely has five star writing and characterization BUT when you get down to brass tax it is simply over romanticized incestuous pedophilia. And as a mother of five I cannot condone that.

This book is pretty amazing. I can see The Hunger Games undertones but it's not so overbearing to the point that it feels redundant.

Red Rising | Pierce Brown

I got my hands on this one due to the fact that it showed up via happenstance on Litsy. It's got mixed reviews, they lean more towards good. So far I'm really into it. It does give off a Hunger Games Fanfic feel to it, I hope this one doesn't turn in to a carbon copy like The Mars Room did with OITNB. I will say, while I understand the dialogue I wish it wasn't so redundant. Seems every character opens their mouth and it's the same one talking.

I'm not entirely sure how in the Sam Hell (amazing book btw) to feel about this book. Its written beautifully and Humbert Humbert is rather entrancing, but I CANNOT stand how he bounces back and forth between first and third person. Idk...#SoConfused

⭐⭐⭐ This book was well written and had it's funny moments, BUT it was just a pinhole view of a family's life and it was rather chaotic and tangential. It felt like I only got the middle of the story and never got the beginning or ending. I really wanted to like it and at moments I did, but this book was just too far left field for me.

⭐⭐ This was a DNF for me. It reminded me too much of an inverse version of OITNB and that more or less bothered me. I get that the author's style is suppose to be cold and detached, but bc of that it makes it hard to believe that she genuinely loves her son. This one wasn't for me.

This is yet another book written like a Jane Austen novel, BUT it suited the story VERY well. This is a different side to things and I think Adam is my favorite. It's a bit slow in the beginning but it eventually wraps you up with it's charm. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I would recommend it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book gets 5 stars from me. I really liked Danny, and even though it got a bit angsty for me at times her humor really made all of the bad easier to swallow. It made all of the things that hit home easier to bear/bare (and yes I mean both). I highly recommend this book. Dandelion Theory all the way.

I very rarely have a DNF, mainly bc I try to finish a book no matter what. But good Lord, this book was some form of cruel and unusual punishment. I tried I really did, but the angsty, pedantic, and overly decadent characters eventually eroded away at my nerves and I gave up about 67% of the way though the book. I tried...I think the writing style is what might've held me for so long. Let's just say I FINALLY 'unteathered' myself from this book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ This one gets only four stars. I did like the plot, the characters were very 3 dimensional BUT Moorse is just so damn irritatingly ambitious and yet he's got this Clockwork Orange sympathy angle to him. It took me a minute to finish it bc it does get slow. But I will hand it to the book, the ending is rather satisfying.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ This got only four stars bc although the story and plot was nice, most of the characters seemed out of a Disney movie. It is also written like a Jane Austin novel, though the style fit the time period used. It was a pleasant story, I would recommend it but with the warning that you have to warm up to it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book gets 4 stars from me. I love the character, the writing style, I especially loved the way it sounded bc it was a audiobook... BUT the plot fell a little short for me. And I agree with most other reviews, that it was mainly about the effects of social media and not so much the sci-fi. I would recommend this but more for the narrative style than the context.
