The William Kent Krueger was the only one I hadn‘t read yet! Happy to get it as my #boty with my January #botm box!

January 2020 #BOTM: A new release I‘ve been looking forward to and a free #BOTY finalist!

What should I do?!?!

I own three of the #boty finalists and I‘m not feeling the other two. But I can get a free one.
A) do I choose one that I don‘t own and hope I‘ll read it?
B) do I choose one I don‘t own and put it in my LFL?
C) do I choose one I own and that I think more people would like and put it in my LFL
D) do I pick one and give it to someone as a gift?
I own the three that are marked.

Reviewsbylola Buy Recursion!!! Put it in your LFL or maybe even give it a shot and read it. 😁 2w
marleed I‘m not a sci fi reader typically but gave Recursion 5*. Then I read Dark Matter and liked it just as much. Also I think DJATS is a great gift for anyone who loves 70s music. 2w
Mdargusch That‘s me @marleed - not into sci fi but Recursion sure gets great reviews! 2w
Mdargusch That might be the one I chose @Reviewsbylola 🤷🏼‍♀️ 2w

I went for the nonfiction and my free BFF #BOTY contender 💕I am super curious about Topics of Conversation though. Im trying to only use one #BOTM credit a month so we‘ll see how long that lasts.

Megabooks I‘m excited for Tightrope. I looked into the audio and Jennifer Garner is narrating and I‘m not sure I seven hours like her voice, so I pre-ordered this instead and got tightrope from BOTM. 3w
Reviewsbylola Tightrope sounds awesome. Can‘t wait to read it. 3w
Cinfhen That sounds interesting @Megabooks I‘ll be curious to hear your thoughts 3w

I actually hadn‘t planned on reading this one... when it first showed up as a #BOTM option in April, I instead decided to read Song of Achilles first... and maybe my expectations were just too high, but I didn‘t love it! 🤷‍♀️ But after seeing continuous #LitsyLove for it- plus it winning Goodreads Choice, Litsy Awards AND #BOTY... I had to pick it up! And I am happy to jump on the fan wagon!! It‘s lyrically written and totally engaging!!

k.reads.5 I enjoyed this one as well! I kept Googling the myths while reading lol. 11mo
TorieStorieS @pl.2886 Hahahahaha!! I definitely did just that as soon as I finished this last night!! 😊 11mo

I did good this year! I've already read 10 of the 20 on the Book of the Year list, and I have 3 more on my TBR bookshelf! Huzzah! And, I do like how you can only vote on the ones you own. Seems more legit.
#bookofhemonth #BOTM #BOTY

JamieArc I don‘t like how you can only vote on the ones you own. I get what they‘re trying to do - maybe, but there are a few that I‘ve read but didn‘t purchase through them so I couldn‘t vote for them 😕 2y
Drnkpnkprincess @JamieArc same! Some I read before I joined... 💔 2y
Sydsavvy @JamieArc @Drnkpnkprincess oh dear I didn't think of that, yikes! 2y
MommyOfTwo @JamieArc I feel the same way! I couldn‘t vote for the book I wanted to because I hadn‘t gotten it through them 😢 2y
Sydsavvy @MommyOfTwo oh dear oh dear oh dear!! 2y

#BOTM day!! I couldn't decide which one for this month, so I got both, plus the #BOTY #Lolly winner. The sad thing is that I wanted #SwimmingLessons too, but I'm still pouting over getting turned down for that one on #Netgalley 😬I'm so mature! Anyway, I'm excited for my Christmas present to myself!

Reviewsbylola I get really salty about being turned down on Netgalley too. 😂 All the Ugly and Wonderful Things is phenomenal. 3y

Before the Fall | Noah Hawley

I'm voting for Before the Fall because I think it's a really solid book, done just about perfectly. No tricks. Just a very well-written story about how life can change in an instant, and how our society manages that in today's culture. Hawley covers every angle, answers every question, and examines all the details with a modern lens. Definitely one of my top 5 for the year.

cathysaid Agreed. Strategically organized, perceptive, and entertaining. 3y
Reviewsbylola I enjoyed this one too! 3y
