🤩🪄🦇💖.

When I tried to pinch out a napkin from a dispenser, it tore and released only a little trim.

I tried again and only manage to tear off a larger piece. About to huff at the dispenser, I caught a glimpse of the larger torn piece of napkin in my hand.

Is it wacky me? Or is that the Batman symbol!

👇🏼

AnnCrystal As I pulled out my book to slip the cloth inside of for safe keeping, a friend came up and pinched out a napkin from the dispenser. Without a hitch, she retrieved a napkin for herself and freed the remainder of the one that had tore on me along with it. My napkin flew into the air and I snatched it up, which made my friend laugh.

I sat where I could watch the dispenser for awhile, noting that no one else had a problem plucking out napkins.

AnnCrystal A bookmark, that's what I will make with this peculiar piece of cloth.

This reminds me of that plastic that caught in my neighborhood tree, the one that looked like a giant Batman symbol...I've attached that old post to this one.

Here are 6 books that feel like Autumn to me.

Great memories from when my kids were little: Apples and Pumpkins, and The PennyWhistle Halloween Book

Cooking and Decorating: Old-Fashioned Pumpkin Recipes, and Autumn from the Heart of the Home

Cozy Autumn Reads: Autumn by the Sea, and Autumn in Sycamore Park

How often does a favorite book get turned into an OPERA? At the MET, no less?! They did a phenomenal job adapting this beautiful, tragic, sweeping story. The visual effects were especially unique. It‘s been years since I read this so I forgot how completely gutting it is, but the heightened emotionality was definitely well-suited for opera.

Ruthiella Love it! 2mo
JuniperWilde I‘ve always wanted to read this book. Whenever I walk into a bookstore it‘s right there staring at me. Perhaps it‘s time. 2mo

The #ToB crew is hosting a horror pop-up in which 16 classic horror novels will be set up against one another in the usual way.

https://www.tournamentofbooks.com/welcome-to-the-horror-popup

I don‘t think I‘ll participate (too many books too little time) but I do love that tob is alive and kicking and can‘t wait for them to follow up with the #ToB26 longlist!

Ruthiella I did see this and thought it was pretty cool that it is all older titles-classics even! I probably won‘t participate either but I‘ll try to check out the commentary! 3mo
ChaoticMissAdventures Ohh that sounds fun!! 3mo
Suet624 I thought of you immediately when I saw their notice about this event. I appreciate their efforts. I‘m not someone who tends to like horror stories so I probably won‘t participate, but I‘m happy they‘re trying. 3mo

During VADER‘s quest to root out the remaining Jedi, he takes a beat to pick out where to build a ‘fortress of solitude‘. More than a new hideout, this base on the planet Mustafar (where he was reborn as the Sith Lord) serves as a key to more power from the Dark side of the Force. It might also be the tool for him to regain the one person he so desperately wants alive again…

“You lost?” the man asked. He had a zillion wrinkles, and he was wearing a hat that would suit an old-fashioned detective. He perched on a stool beside the stairs out of the subway station, ready to launch into a guitar solo.

This book is a bible. It‘s the O.G. The first brick in the foundation of all Superhero comics that exist today. The 1st 38 issues of Spider-Man. This weighs nearly 3 kilos. My forearms are like Popeyes after reading it. Steve Ditko‘s art is sublime. It‘s a shame deadlines made it sometimes look rushed. But when he put the effort in, he drew the quintessential Spidey. I met Stan Lee once. I said “I love you Stan”. He said “Thanks” ‘‘Nuff said

AnnCrystal 🤩👍🏼 Epic 🕸️🆒💫. (edited) 3mo
RamsFan1963 Ditko is criminally underrated. His work on Spider-Man & Doctor Strange was as important to Marvel's foundation as Kirby's art on the Fantastic Four 3mo

Exiled to the planet of Sakaar by Earth‘s heroes, the ship he was sent on explodes, killing his new wife and allies. HULK returns to his home planet seeking revenge on the ones who betrayed him. Amazing sequel to one of the best HULK stories ever. Brutal non-stop action, bathed in emotional resonance. Greg Pak deserves high accolades for these back-to-back masterpieces.

WeAreLegion Sorry, this book is actually 'WORLD WAR HULK'; sequel to 'PLANET HULK'. 4mo

Instant classic!
HULK is deemed a danger to Earth by some of its heroes and sent off into space to the remote planet of Sakaar where he is taken as a slave to fight in gladiator battles. He wins his freedom and becomes the leader of the freed slaves, and takes over the planet. One of the best HULK stories I've ever read. A homerun of a narrative, so epic and fun!
