kspenmoll @readinginthedark The War Outside takes place during WWII & is about two young teens, one with German background, the other Japanese.( they are citizens)Their families are sent to an interment camp in Crystal City,Texas. Against all social etc odds in the camp, the girls forge a secret relationship. There is intrigue & a well developed picture of life there as told thru the girls eyes. (edited) 5y

kspenmoll @readinginthedark This was the only family internment camp - both Japanese & German families were held there , but they were in geographically separated areas within the camp. The children were citizens, some parents were not. There was a secret government exchange program where families were sent back to Japan & Germany in exchange for Americans. 5y
