That ending....
I really love where this series is going.
The double POV was a delightful change. Adrian's voice is definitely what was missing in the previous books.

Can't wait to start the next book.

2½✨

This is the second book by Virginia Woolf that I've tried. And I'm sorry to say I just don't like her writing energy. At points it felt frantic and chaotic and I had to put all my mind-power to work to stay with the story.
I just feel that I've worked way too hard for this little book.

PaperbackPirate I feel the same way! I read The Voyage Out. 😴 8mo

I really enjoyed this fictional account of the life of Shakespeare and the death of his son Hamnet. This book is told in a few timelines. The most interesting is of Shakespeare's wife, Agnes, who is presented as a healer or witch.
Warning: this story is quite tragic and the last 4 hrs or so may cause crying, grief and wanting to strangle a number of men in the book 😿

I think this is the most disappointing Austen read I've had to date. I couldn't connect to Anne. Her longing for Frederick became a point of irration rather than something enduring. And in the end I was hoping for a vicious plot twist where they don't end up together 😱

I reckon this is an #UnpopularOpinion

Ruthiella That‘s how I felt the first time I read it too. But when I reread it a few years later, I was able to better accept both Anne and Frederick‘s behavior. I still need to reread Mansfield Park because I disliked it too in the first read. 9mo
Enchanted_Bibliophile @Ruthiella I'll give it a year or 2 and try again. Glad to know I'm not alone in my initial dislike. ☺️ 9mo

3½ ✨

Didn't enjoy this one as much as the first one.
At first it dragged and then the ending felt rushed and a bit incomplete. I'd like it if I could have joined Nicolas in his final voyage. Not just get a one paragraph summary of it. In fact I feel it could have been a whole book on its own.

Spinning Silver | Naomi Novik

This was a February #roll100 title I finished in March and had been languishing on my TBR shelf for a few years now.

I enjoyed Uprooted: I freakin‘ LOVED Spinning Silver! I loved the strong female characters here who refused to allow their circumstances to dictate who they can be. Novik masterfully creates such unique voices that I instantly knew which POV I was reading and those threads are slowly spun together into something very special.

MeganAnn Also used this for #nsr23 : lesser known fairytale retelling @Nessavamusic 📚 and #pantone2023 #macchiato #grayedjade @Clwojick 13mo

This is the first book in this series that I actually loved!
It reminded me of The Infernal Devices which I love, might have something to do with some of those characters making an appearance here.
But even without them; this book was awesome! Just the right blend of adventure, action and romance.

I might even consider reading the rest of Clare's work now.

Enchanted_Bibliophile @Meshell1313 Just saw your review of Last Hours. I love those covers, so I'll definitely be looking into them. 1y
Meshell1313 @Enchanted_Bibliophile it‘s perfect to read right after Infernal devices since it‘s a lot of the same characters just one generation later. You‘ll have Tessa and Will fresh in your mind! 1y

My first foray into the solarpunk genre was a success!I started this novella on audio earlier today and just couldn‘t stop listening. I see why this one gets so much love, and I‘m excited to read the second half of the duology. This has been on my radar for a while now, so I really appreciate @SueK putting it on my #AuldLangSpine list and encouraging me to give it a try. @monalyisha #Pantone2022 #Macchiato @Clwojick

SueK @IndoorDame So glad you enjoyed it! @monalyisha Absolutely wish I could read it for the first time again. But I think I liked the second one even more, so that‘s almost the same thing. 1y
