pickI really liked this story of three Sisters, who were named for Shakespeare characters, and grew up quoting Shakespeare, as their dad is a professor of Shakespeare. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to keep reading it, since their mom is fighting breast cancer, but her cancer journey was so eloquently written about and the experiences were described so correctly, that it felt like a hug of acknowledgement and support throughout the story.

so-soI had mixed thoughts about this semi-autobiographical novel. I loved Elizabeth‘s writing about the natural world, her desire for quiet solitude, and her humorous trials-and-errors with various plants. But I rankled at her life of extreme privilege, her seeming lack of any feeling towards her husband, and her mocking comments about her house guests. Bottom line, I just didn‘t like her very much.
