#ReadAway2024 #FabulousFebruary #20in4

I finished my 3rd book for the #Roll100 challenge (#44) On my #BOTM stack, I‘m glad I finally got to it. It‘s a lighter pick for me. I loved the setting of The Cloisters. I was in NYC in 2008 & we spent the day there (my first & only time seeing it) & I loved how atmospheric it was & thought the author captured that well. The arts, antiquities & academic aspects were interesting as was the tarot card ⬇️

DebinHawaii …details. It did drag a bit in the set up & I wished I liked the MC or any of the characters more. Still overall, it held my interest & had me Googling more information on multiple subjects, so while not a favorite of the month, still a pick . 2mo

So excited that I got this so quickly on Libby. I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend an Audible credit on this book so I was thrilled Libby released it so quickly. I knew this would be a great listen with the infamous narrator, Kate Mara, whose voice is entrancing. So far I'm enthralled, the narration is excellent, although, I think the impact would be stronger with two narrators. But other than that I'm dying to see what happens next!

Monica5 I have a crazy question. Why do you use Audible when you can get free audiobooks from Libby🤷 8mo
IndianBookworm I have a major deja-vu reading this book's synopsis. I have read a book with a super similar storyline and am actually forgetting the name. 8mo
Q84 @Monica5 I too use Audible and Libby. For me, sometimes a book is free on Audible. Also, Libby has wait lists for 216 people sometimes x 14 days each plus the 24-48 hr each to check it out. It's nice to just pop over to Audible if it's a "dying to read" book. 8mo

Monica5 @Q84 oh, okay! I was just wondering. I have noticed on most of my audios the waits not as long as Libby says 8mo
Q84 @Monica5 True. It all depends on the book and the library you go through. One place I lived in, I had books on hold for a year, waiting to read them. Now, where I live, they don't have a lot of options, so I usually buy the books I want unless it's a YA book or a couple of years older. The big cities and connected libraries tend to have the best selections and can buy more based on their needs. 8mo
Monica5 @Q84 My library is tied into a bigger one. I do have to wait awhile for a book that's really popular. I have such a long TBR list, that it doesn't really matter if I have to wait. I'm also disabled, so I go for the free route whenever I can. 8mo
BookLineNSinker Thank you @Monica5! @Q84 I got a little restless because I forgot to check Libby's new releases on Saturdays and Tuesdays to get my hold on the book quickly. Instead, I was #44 on the wait-list for this book. I splurge a lot on Audible because I have a long commute so I'm always looking for the next great thriller, which results in me getting antsy and buying so I don't have to wait 44 x16 days lol. 8mo
Q84 @BookLineNSinker Same here! I have an hr one way with no traffic, so I get that. 8mo

Eh, I had high hopes because I loved The Guest List. But the writing was choppy and ths ending was too happy for me 🤷🏼‍♀️. I was expecting something darker and more sinister. I mean, you can‘t get much worse than their night club but…. I give this 3 stars, there‘s definitely a good mystery here but it‘s not Foley‘s best work. Book #44 in 2023

Book #44
4/5
Though not necessarily my cup of tea, this book is unique, quick paced, and well-written. I know I shouldn't compare his writing to his father's (Stephen King), but I can't help it - their writing has the same dark, richly detailed, otherworldly quality. Heart-Shaped Box is, at times, like an insane fever dream.

The cup was a gift😍unpopular opinion here but it was me because I couldn‘t stand the main character. But if you like family drama with dysfunctional characters, this is for you. Usually I like that type of stories but I don‘t know what happened with this one. Sunday left her home, town, away from her family after a traumatic experience, no support to manage it. Then, one day decided to go back.⬇️

Gissy This is a type of person that with the word “sorry” in her mouth and “you are right, I shouldn‘t do it” can destroy your life. I saw this person so selfish and opportunistic, no introspection, only thinking in herself. Well, something that you can expect in this dysfunctional family. They can destroy others just to be together as a family, dysfunctional but together🙄 2.8/3⭐️

EclecticBookLover I had similar feelings while reading this one. I dont understand the hype. I didn't like any of the family members. 13mo

Gissy @EclecticBookLover Terrible characters and the novel was a little bit repetitive for less than 300 pages. I read Sunday‘s story in each chapter🙄 13mo

Didn't read for the full 24 hours that I wanted to, but that is mainly because I took a very long nap in the middle of the day yesterday. I did finish the three books pictured, including finally finishing #44 for January's #Roll100.

3⭐️ A spicy beauty and the beast retelling. It was cute for what it was, but I would‘ve liked more. I would‘ve liked a little bit more on the history of the goblin king, I would‘ve love some more character development, and would have enjoyed more family dynamic. Basically I would‘ve enjoyed more than just spice, which is what it basically was. #roll100 #44
