I love both of Jodi Taylor‘s time travel series. I love all the historical details she includes, the laugh out loud moments and the madcap adventures. Her stories can get convoluted but I‘ve learned to just roll with it. I do recommend starting at the beginning of each series rather than hopping into the middle.

Finished last night in time for our #independentwomen discussion tomorrow. I had a hard time getting into the writing style in print so switched to audio at an increased speed which helped a bit. I have mixed feelings so a so-so for me.

I really enjoyed this especially the writing which in a slight@dialect and really made the book pop. I enjoyed both the main storyline with the mermaid and David I also really liked rain, life and Regie‘s story. Inclusive and thought provoking and kind of bweauriful - author is from Trinidad so including as my read from there #readingtheericas and also #pantone23

 pick
pickMy strong preference when on a plane is a rom com - the cheesier then better! Unfortunately there was not one today so I turned to this book. A slightly different take on fake dating trope with the 2 leads faking being exes to get a job. Light and quick to read it‘s a soft pick. I‘m also claiming it as a squint and it matches #pantone23

 pick
pickA low pick. The writing for me was a little lackluster. I didn‘t feel the tension one would expect in this situation and it wrapped up almost too neatly. But it was a nice palette cleanser.
@CBee Another book off my kindle for #TBRTarot

 pick
pickTaylor Jenkins Reid can form a compelling sentence and string them together to keep you reading. This is only the second book of hers I‘ve read and once I started I did want to go along on the journey. It was a pleasant read while keeping an eye on the Super Bowl.

 pick
pickI really liked this debut novel. Great writing, some of it absolutely brilliant. It follows one week in the lives of 4 teenagers who have aged out of the foster care system, who are roommates in a cheap apartment in a town that doesn‘t have much to offer them.

Last book of January. #Pantone23 #BluePerennial
This is an honest but brutal account of Evanna‘s battle with/journey through anorexia. I appreciated her approach for telling her story and her advocacy for treating the whole person not just the disorder. I think she is still searching for something and I hope she finds it.

 pick
pickBk9 of #JumpStart2023 & Bk5 of #JoyousJanuary #readathon is done. This was another winner for me, I totally enjoyed it. Reminded me of Red, the Bruce Willis movie if Willis, Malkovich & Freeman were women. Really hope there‘s another book, these women were awesome! Highly recommend. #BookspinBingo #Booked2023 #SetIn2TimePeriods #FourFoursIn23 #FunnyMoney #ISpyBingo #Pantone23 #CherryTomato #NoBuy2023Bingo #Pop23 #ReadYourShelf2023
