Mandanna does it again! Loved this one as much as her first. This has it all, the cozy vibes, the lovable quirky characters, found family, and lots of magic. And I couldn't imagine a more satisfying and perfect ending.

A witch who lost her powers after casting a resurrection spell as a child uses her now minimal powers to manage her chaotic inn and the wayward folks it brings in. I enjoyed this cozy tale and all of its charming characters. I wish Posey and Clementine got to be more character than a plot device though. #Cozy #Fantasy

I don‘t really read spooky books but I am very much looking forward to the tagged book! #sundayfunday @BookmarkTavern

For my #hauntedshelf recs, I have a not spooky (A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna) and an extremely spooky (The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones) recommendation.
For The Buffalo Hunter Hunter, check the content warnings before reading. There's one in particular that you can skip ahead a page or so if you know it's coming and will bother you.

My hopes were very high for this book, and it absolutely did not disappoint.
Magical, fantastical, romantic, and so cozy, I loved every minute. I bought the hardcopy, but I exclusively listened to the audiobook because MacLaren is one of my favorite readers.
This book has a lot to say about what makes us valuable or worthy and how important our found families are, and it was such a pocket of peace. I highly recommend it.

I was a little unsure about this at first - it‘s very unusual. But in the end the cozy fall vibes, found family story, and delightful whimsy of it all totally won me over. Some really beautiful sentences. The kind of book that gives you warm fuzzies. Sentimental but very sweet. Recommended!

Starting a new book. I loved the first book I read by this author - hoping this has the same vibes.

While I didn't love this one quite as much as Very Secret Society, it was still a worthy follow up. All the found family, cozy magic vibes. Talking foxes and zombie roosters. The ending fell a bit short, but all in all a lovely time if you're looking for cozy fantasy.

What an absolutely lovely book. The heart of this magic was found family & love as resistance to an unkind world ♥️ I‘m very here for it
I normally don‘t do spoiler posts, but I had to say something about the ending. All I can say here is: many stars ⭐️ I highly recommend.
If you‘ve already read it, see the comments below 😉 I have many thoughts about this!

Between the end of June & beginning of August, I read or listened to 7 historical fiction/mystery/fantasy/adventure books & 1 modern day romantasy—all mostly set in England. Guess I was in a mood! Already reviewed 2 & another was a reread.
All are 4-4.5⭐️
Rushworth—4th in the Jonathan Darcy/Juliet Tilney series. Will they ever be allowed to get married?! The only series where Darcy is a jerk.
Blameless—Not much romance but definitely 👇

Finished this on my flight on Saturday. I really liked this book. It‘s got magic, drama, romance and finding your path. There is a talking fox and a mismatch of characters. It was a lot of fun but also touches on some more serious topics.

My first Aardvark book selection. So pretty! #aardvarkbookclub

Thank you @TheSpineView for the #MotivationalMonday tag! 🥺
1️⃣ Does survive the week seem defeatist? It‘s a tough work week for me.😬I bought cute local cards this weekend for #SpringCardSwap & want to get them out.
2️⃣ I have 2-the tagged book & Somewhere Beyond the Sea (follow up to The House in the Cerulean Sea) are both out in Sept!
3️⃣ Mystery as I feel I can work in lots of sub genres-historical, thriller, cozy, etc.

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches was a 5⭐️ hug in book form for me last year so the tagged book (coming out in April 2024) is a potential #Anticipated5StarRead for me. And even if it doesn‘t quite hit ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am sure it will be delighted & I can‘t wait! 💜

I loved The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches so I'm thrilled the author is coming out with another cozy fantasy novel! gizmodo.com/cozy-fantasy-excerpt-witchs-guide-to-magical-innkeeping-1850582927
