My daughter is visiting the grandparents in St. Barths for a month. We put together books to read together while she‘s gone. Her reading locales are definitely more beautiful than mine.
We enjoyed this one that had us thinking about To All the Boys I‘ve Loved Before.

The FMC and MMC reminded me of Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky (movies versions more than book versions). I was surprised to find myself in tears a couple of times.

Honestly more like between pick and so so. I'm just not huge on YA anymore as personal preference, but this was pretty cute. Appreciated that the characters acted like their age group (17-18) rather than either preteens or adults who are nearing graduating from high school. It really rang true for me. Also loved that the mc was willing to change her mind about people when she was...presented with new evidence, we'll say 😆

Starting this one today. Got it as a $5 offer at BandN cafe without realizing it was YA. I'm not doing so well with YA lately but I've heard good things about Lynn Painter.

Anyone tried this one?

Sometimes you just need a silly teen romance novel to make you smile and giggle. I listened to this audiobook twice over the last year or so. I love it so much. Gets you out of your head, lowers stress, makes you feel all giddy. I adore Lynn Painters books. Trying to finish up a book I'm currently reading so I can read book 2: Nothing Like the Movies. It's sitting on my shelf taunting me. ❤️😍❤️

Read this whole book yesterday. It was predictable but cute and light-hearted. The characters weren‘t too deep. I enjoyed all the movie references, but it did commit the writing sin of putting lyrics in the writing (multiple times) which was cringeworthy. For me, Lynn Painter books will be a palate cleanser.

What can I say. I couldn‘t resist the colored edges. 🥰 My single book haul book (cause I‘m on a major budget) 😒

I am entirely obsessed with this book. Wes is the perfect compliment to Liz and their banter is simply amazing. I genuinely didn‘t this book would live up to the hype I‘d heard about it but it truly truly did.

It was a cute YA read. Definitely had great Rom-Com references. I think it was a little over hyped up. Cute quick read though.

As a hardcore sucker for rom-com movies, this hit all the right tropes. I mean notes 😂❤️

I love all the movie references on the cover, and there are many more throughout the book - each chapter begins with a quote from a romcom. And yes, it‘s predictable, but most romcoms are. This one was sweet, like a mix of Pretty in Pink, 10 Things, and Bridget Jones all rolled into one!

Sleep chihuahua and the perfect rom-com book!

This one hits on all the tropes! And although super predictable (as most rom-coms are) it was incredibly adorable!

Could easily be turned into a movie 🎥

I loved all the quotes from beloved movies.

Have been loving these quick, light-hearted reads lately. Of course the storyline was predictable, but still couldn‘t put it down. 💛

Really loved the enemies to lovers/fake dating trope. Just really long chapters

Liz‘s forever crush, Michael, moves back home. She asks her boy-next-door Wes to help her in being Michael‘s date for prom. The more time they hang out, the less she imagines Michael as her prom date.

This book was ok. It was a bit overhyped. I liked the plot, writing, & ending. Also, their chemistry was cute & there were visible character arcs. I just didn‘t like the non-communication between all of the characters. It annoyed me throughout.

i think this book is just perfect. and i was totally meant to read it as someone who cries over rom coms and romance. the structure of the writing and the plot was indeed, better than the movies.

I did not realize this was a YA novel until I was already getting into it. This book was an adorably predictable rom-com, and totally swoon-worthy if you're into that sort of thing 😉

If you like rom-com books, you'll like this. The POV is 1st person b/c Liz narrates using “I“ or “we“ pronouns.

This book had me hooked to from the first chapter to the last word! I got a little teary at a part too (at prom ifykyk).Overall a good book and deserves the hype!! + THEY HAD A PLAYLIST. The editing companies need to make it mandatory at this point- My heart also ACHES when listening to the playlist and thinking about them!! I feel empty without them. They are my comfort characters:(( 5 stars

🥰 cute cute cute! There‘s probably one chapter of enemies and the rest was such a nice friendship that grew into something greater. Wes was the perfect guy. I loved how Liz would acknowledge it over and over and then be like “BUT NOT FOR ME.” Same girl 🤡

I loved this book way more than I expected to, as a fan of rom-coms movies (and books) this YA childhood friends to enemies to lovers/fake dating trope worked so great with movie and character references and spot-on banter.

In some ways, this felt like a YA story written for adult audiences, if that makes sense. Not in a bad way, but the MC's mother has died several years before the story opens, so the MC stays close to her memories through the movies and music they shared - which is more from my generation than the current batch of YA readers. But maybe I'm wrong and YA audiences these days are way into 90s romcoms and are familiar with Beastie Boys and Radiohead? ⬇

I am loving the high school fake relationships and enemies to lovers tropes. The cute romcom references add to the feel good stories.
