It was better than a so so book but I didn‘t fall in love with this one. It was meh through most of it but I liked the ending.

Mehso-so

It was okay. ⭐️⭐️✨

It's not bad, but it's one of those novels that is over-hyped (or was to me). I'm not a fan of stories that are all setup--it's like endless rising action that plateaus instead of moving to a climax, and offers an unsatisfying resolution. My favorite part of the book are the walks the two main characters would take throughout London and the glimpses they would offer of the city. Otherwise? Meh.

It was okay.
I didn‘t love any of the characters but there were a few anecdotes that made me smile.
The last third got marginally better, I might have just got used to the style.
More than anything, I think I‘m just glad to get it off the pile.

After finishing another Holiday Romance set in London. It's time to cleanse the palate.

Review for Tagged - I wish I had gotten ton Kindle. I could have skimmed some. Just got repetitive. Honestly I get it. Alex is tired & Jess is the New Girl.
I didn't even listen all in one go. Started on NYE and then put aside for a few days to read IRL Book Club read.

Didn't hate it. Mostly just Meh.

Crinoline_Laphroaig Sophie character was really annoying with her controlling and trying to get pregnant angst. 3y
Crinoline_Laphroaig IMHO better of the 2 Holiday reads 3y

Set over the course of a year, we follow Jess and Alex, who meet while sharing a home with 3 others. Both are at a crossroads in life and starting over. I felt that we got to know Alex and side characters more than Jess. She was a little bland. It was fairly predictable but light & cute for the time of year. A pick but I'm not shouting it from the rooftops of Notting Hill.

I read this for the December #sundaybuddyread

I enjoyed this. I don't think it was super memorable, but I liked the setting and the characters well enough. I liked how the storyline seemed pretty plausible

Finished this audio last week. Such a fun story and really enjoyed the audio. We got to hear from the POV of both Jess and Alex in a year of their lives as housemates, from one December to the next. I felt so sad at some points towards the end in regards to missed opportunities but it wrapped up well. A sweet story set in London and a nice holiday read.

A day late for #SundayBuddyRead , but hooray for me finishing!

This is a delightfully fun, fluffy read, perfect escape reading. Jess and Alex have awkwardness down very nicely, and it was fun to see them grow in a course of a year. I also kept trying to picture the house they all lived in - would love to see it!

Jess moves to London to follow her dream, and moves into a house with her college friend and three other roommates that she doesn't know. She immediately tales a liking to Alex, and the story follows them through the course of a year in their life, as Jess tries to discern if Alex cares about her the way she cares about him. #SundayBuddyRead #BookSpinBingo

What did you think of Alex running to Jess??

Sophie eloped ?! And had a baby ? Did I miss the pregnancy ?

Epilogue
All tied up in a bow what did you think ?

Laughterhp Yeah I was very surprised they eloped. I‘m glad they had a happily ever after and nothing bad happened. I think her pregnancy announcement was a quick 2 sentences and they didn‘t go on about it. (edited) 3y
slategreyskies I loved the closing kiss scene. It made me smile. It sure took them long enough! :) 3y
AmyG I was surprised they eloped. Sweet book. Not my kind of read. I am happy to be done. 🤣 3y
See All 17 Comments
TheBookHippie @AmyG 🤣🤣🤣🤣💯 3y
CoffeeAndABook I was SO ready for Alex to FINALLY make this happen. The plot was a little drawn-out towards the end there. But it was cute the way he ran to get her the second he knew she and James had broken up. I was definitely expecting more drama from the Sophie storyline, a breakup, problems with her pregnancy, anything. The fact that it just all fell into place and she sort of gave up on her big dream wedding - huh 🤔 3y
CoffeeNBooks Yes, everything was wrapped up in a nice little bow in the end. This is why I don't usually read this type of book. But, every time I read this type of book, I'm glad it ends this way and I enjoy that it was a light, fun read. So, I guess I can appreciate reading these every now and then. 😂 3y
TheBookHippie @CoffeeNBooks 🤣🤣🤣💯 3y
Sargar114 This was definitely a movie ending! With the type of book it is, I was happy about it. Definitely warm and fuzzy feelings. ❤️💚 3y
InkintheMargins I was also expecting a lot more complication for some of the minor characters. I mean Emma just drifts off into the wind. Lol. Sophie's storyline didn't make a ton of sense. I wanted to see more of Becky and Rob. They need their own book. 🤣 I am glad Jess and Alex figured it out, and they still feel all the fuzzy tingles one year later. ❤ 3y
Karisa @MadDashReading Yes! Becky and Rob were terrific characters. 😍 3y
Karisa I liked the ending. Sometimes you just need the happily ever after 💁🏻‍♀️ 3y
vlwelser So fluffy. But I think that's what we intended, right? 3y
mollyrotondo @MadDashReading yes I want a Becky and Rob book! And I also agree with @CoffeeNBooks when she said the ending was a little drawn out. I am happy that everything worked out even though the Sophie story was way too neat. But I liked this story better than the other romance I tried to read this month so I‘m satisfied with this pick 😂 3y
ElizaMarie @AmyG how I felt too. This isn't my “type“ of book that I normally read but.. its was cute for what it was. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to people who like this type of book 3y
TheBookHippie @vlwelser Yes a light no effort required 😬😂 3y
TheBookHippie @mollyrotondo I agree bring on Becky and Rob and all the recipes ! 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick It was a light & fluffy read but it felt like there was a lot going on that could've made it interesting, but the author just went the safe route plot-wise. I still feel like I have a better grasp on other characters other than Jess. Not much happened at work...why introduced them? Not much drama... it was good, but I'm glad it was a library borrow. I don't think I'll be reading this annually. 3y

vlwelser @AmyG lol. Too fluffy? 3y
AmyG @vlwelser Exactly. 🤣 3y

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I laughed when I saw that, wondering if you read ahead. 🤣 I like the song but I didn't think it fully worked in context. Is Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses a thing in England? I thought it might be a bit more fitting to their relationship. 3y

So what did you think of Venice ?

Laughterhp What an awkward trip that was. 3y
slategreyskies It certainly didn‘t sound great the way they did it. Also, was it just me, or did James seem controlling? He struck me as the type of guy who wanted everything his way but was hiding it behind this calm exterior. Maybe I‘m being too hard on him, but I admit that I didn‘t like the guy. 3y
AmyG Oy. I, too, thougt James liked things his way. Not very spontaneous in many ways. 3y
See All 12 Comments
CoffeeAndABook It‘s hard to mess up a trip to Venice, isn‘t it 😂 when he left her to wake up by herself on her birthday, that was it for me. Game over. And I‘ve never been on a gondola ride but I‘ve always imagined that it would be so awkward sitting there in a boat with a random guy singing at you. I laughed so much at that scene! 3y
CoffeeNBooks It seemed like a bit too much, too soon. James seemed less interested in spending the time there with Jess than spending the time there checking off a list of things he wanted to see and do there. It's like he had no intention of asking her what she wanted to do, even though it was her birthday weekend. 3y
InkintheMargins I agree with all of the comments above. I could feel her fear that he was going to propose. I was afraid she would say yes out of guilt. 3y
Sargar114 I definitely agree, the true test of a relationship is traveling with someone. @AmyG for a spontaneous trip to Venice, it was not very spontaneous haha. Anyone else catch that Alex and Jess‘ eventual spot is Little Venice? 👏👏 3y
CoffeeAndABook @Sargar114 Ha - I did not catch that but it‘s a nice bit of irony 👍🏼😂 3y
vlwelser It sort of showed just how different they are. They couldn't even have fun together in Venice. 3y
mollyrotondo Uhhh I hated this. How could he let her wake up alone on her birthday? He was definitely a guy who is not interested in actually falling in love. He just wants a girl because it‘s what he is supposed to want. I can‘t stand people like this. 3y
ElizaMarie @slategreyskies I thought he was too. I mean maybe he wanted to pack in everything he could with the time he had available. That isn't really the problem. But you need to know your audience. I mean she clearly wouldn't have enjoyed (and didn't) enjoy that
type of vacation. But you know how they say you don't know someone well until you spend a road trip with them (or something like that)
3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick She didn't even wake up alone because he ran out to get coffee & pastries! She was alone because he wanted to explore without her! On her birthday. This trip wasn't really for her. What a douchebag. 3y

Alex and the book... who swooned ?

slategreyskies You know, I did this for a guy once years ago. He‘d told me about a book that was limited edition that he‘d had as a child and wasn‘t able to find, and I actually hunted it down and gave it to him. Sad to say, this particular guy didn‘t deserve it... but a well thought out book gift is definitely one of the best gift ideas ever. The thoughtfulness that went into it... ahhh. :) 3y
AmyG I loved this about Alex. ❤️ 3y
CoffeeAndABook Oh yeah! Rosie Curtis knew this would be a slam-dunk! She had us wrapped around his pinkie with that one 💓💓💓 3y
See All 10 Comments
CoffeeNBooks That was so awesome that he thought to do that! 3y
Sargar114 This was perfect 😍 3y
InkintheMargins I liked that it showed he paid attention to her and what she likes. It was so much more personal than a surprise trip to Venice. I also liked that we didn't get the scene where she tells him about this book initially. We just learn that he knows about it. It helps build credibility for their bond and let's us know there have been even more conversations and moments, obviously, than what we are getting on the page. Good move. BTW, I loved One Day! 3y
vlwelser So cute. And such a great book. 3y
mollyrotondo It was sweet and showed that he listened and cares. 3y
ElizaMarie He is just so thoughtful to find something that he knew would mean something to her. Just aww... he made my heart melt a tad 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Thoughtful. I think Rosie knew she'd win over the reader with that gift. 😂 I get that Venice is romantic, but what made James think that a trip to a city on the water was a good idea for a first trip away? It's so much harder to escape! 3y

slategreyskies I think he was my favorite character. Love that guy. 3y
AmyG Ha...we all liked him. And I loved Nana Beth. 3y
See All 15 Comments
CoffeeAndABook For a long stretch of the book I had no feelings about him at all, he was sort of invisible. But towards the end he really grew into a favorite character for me, too. I like that picture you chose for him @TheBookHippie! I might have enjoyed him even more with that vision of him in my head 😉 3y
CoffeeNBooks Rob is great! He didn't say much, but he said what was important when it really mattered. 3y
Sargar114 I like Rob. It seemed like he was the voice of the reader in a way. Telling Alex what everyone is thinking. My favorite part of this is that everyone else knew how Jess and Alex felt about each other except Jess and Alex! 3y
Karisa Rob's awesome. Cooks and leaves leftovers for everyone. Why did I picture him shorter, stocky, and bald though? 🤣 3y
vlwelser I already said this but he's one of my favorites. 3y
mollyrotondo I love Rob! He was my favorite character! 3y
mollyrotondo I will say I thought of him as a tall but broad shouldered sort of burly man. 3y
TheBookHippie @CoffeeAndABook I‘m a huge Bourdain fan. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I liked Rob! Being a little older than the others, he seemed to have a bit more wisdom to share. I pictured him more like this with a few more years on him @mollyrotondo @Karisa https://pin.it/6bjkrqe 3y

“James is the perfect boyfriend so why am I looking to see if Alex text?”

Why why why are these girls looking for perfect and why do they care what others think?

They aren‘t in the relationship. Ya ya it‘s a fluffy read but still is it 1950? Oy. Can they make a fluff book without this theme?

Alex -why do you think she doesn‘t see it? That he‘s it.

Laughterhp This really annoyed me in the book. They couldn‘t just try to be happy. They needed perfect and people to think they were perfect. So annoying 3y
slategreyskies I think she does see it but is trying to suppress it to follow the rules AND also she thinks he‘s not into her. All the miscommunication and misunderstandings between the two of them made me wanna throw the book! 3y
AmyG I think she doesn‘t see Alex as it because she is a bit insecure. And yes, also a rule-follower. And she thought he liked a girl like Emma. And I wonder if women will ever not feel the need to be perfect. 3y
See All 9 Comments
CoffeeNBooks I think Jess knew she wanted and deserved more than someone who appeared to be a "perfect boyfriend." She wanted someone who she enjoyed spending time with- Alex. But, she kept thinking Alex didn't feel the same about her. So she was trying to make it work with James, who seemed like he should be the right guy, unlike the dating app guy she went on the date with. 3y
InkintheMargins Alex picture = nailed it! 3y
Sargar114 James was doing all the right things and was a package, but Jess didn‘t have the connection with him that she had with Alex. I didn‘t quite understand why Alex was less than perfect because of this. So yeah it‘s a weird theme. 3y
vlwelser I love this picture. 3y
mollyrotondo I also think Jess thought Alex wasn‘t into her and thought she should try to fall in love with James since James was all in and a nice guy. If Alex was honest with her about how he felt then she would have kicked James to the curb a long while ago. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Why do people find it so hard to say what they feel?! I think more people out there in the world need to learn the difference between "perfect" and "perfect for me". I met my guy on the first day of college 23 years ago. Is he perfect? No! But when I meet other men, I consider their viability as a partner out of curiosity. Some may be hilarious but ugly, cute but too meek, fit but can't sit and relax...I'm lucky that I found perfect for me. 3y

“Mom always perks up when a good looking man is around ?!?!”

I think she‘s a narcissist ... and awful I don‘t think she‘s a romantic at all... maybe Emma is like her ? What are your final thoughts about her?

slategreyskies Ugh, I didn‘t like her at all. She reminds me too much of my mom. *shudder* 3y
AmyG My Mom was like that...just not so blatant. She didn‘t flirt with my boyfriends....just men her age. She was a beautiful woman and having men notice her...gave her worth? In her mind? She was just very self-centered. 3y
CoffeeNBooks Jess' mom drives me crazy! I can't imagine being so self-centered! How is she even related to Nanna Beth?! 3y
See All 11 Comments
TheBookHippie @AmyG mine too! Blech. 3y
TheBookHippie @slategreyskies ME TOO. Shuddering with you 😬 3y
Sargar114 Absolutely a narcissist. The fact she doesn‘t think Jess has anything (friends, career, etc) when she breaks up with James drove me up the wall! 3y
Karisa 😂 That photo. It does capture the drama of Jess' mom. I was waiting for the awarkedness to start everytime she entered the page. It feels like it might work with Becky's mom too. 3y
vlwelser Meh. She's sort of embarrassing but beyond that there doesn't seem to be a lot going on with this one. 3y
mollyrotondo I couldn‘t stand her mom. I hated when she thought Jess‘s life was over after she stopped seeing James. Like Jess has no chance if she doesn‘t get a man soon. 3y
ElizaMarie I kinda feel bad for Jess. I mean not too bad because you know.. mother's are a strange ting in ones life. But its kinda heartbreaking that she doesn't see much value in other things. Like Jess is an amazing woman, so what if she breaks up with a “handsome man“ ugh! 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I perk up around a handsome guy (I have eyes and a pulse), but to be flirty with someone's, let alone your daughter's, is just not cool. Jess's mom is shallow and I was sad when she made comments about what Jess is going to do now that she broke up with James. This was the moment her character could've stepped up and been a mom, but nope. Ugh. 3y

Jess in crisis over Nanna seeks Alex shouldn‘t that have been a clue ?!

James saying he was coming even though Jess didn‘t want him to ...
Is that the right thing to do?

slategreyskies That was definitely a clue. If the person you seek comfort from when in hard times isn‘t or can‘t be your partner, that doesn‘t bode well for your relationship. How can it be a strong relationship if you can‘t depend on each other? 3y
Laughterhp I think he was being a good boyfriend by going down. And I agree and ditto with everything @slategreyskies said! 3y
AmyG James was trying to be there for her. And if he was the right guy for her, she would have wanted him there. Subconsciously Jess liked Alex. She knows it but was pushing it aside. 3y
See All 15 Comments
CoffeeAndABook Absolutely @slategreyskies And I was actually really annoyed with Sophie for meddling and telling James to join Jess. Jess was in distress and everyone should have respected her wishes if she didn‘t want him to come down. 3y
CoffeeNBooks @slategreyskies That's exactly what I was thinking! 3y
CoffeeNBooks @CoffeeAndABook I was annoyed with Sophie, too. This section really frustrated me! 3y
TheBookHippie @slategreyskies 👏🏼👏🏼💯 3y
TheBookHippie @CoffeeNBooks I was frustrated as well!! So not their business. Just no. 3y
mollyrotondo Uhh yes I was so annoyed when Sophie needed to make the crisis all about Jess and James teaching another phase in their relationship. I mean come on. Jess knew what she wanted while her grandma was in the hospital so leave her alone. And I found James annoying so he should have staid away 😂 3y
TheBookHippie @mollyrotondo Right?! RUDE. 3y
Sargar114 @AmyG my thoughts exactly! As far as Sophie, it‘s not like Jess was forthcoming about her feelings or lack thereof re James, I don‘t really blame her for trying to help a friend who may have been hurting. Sending her boyfriend down there as a source of comfort seems to be a reasonable thought process. 3y
InkintheMargins I could hardly read the parts where she was ignoring James's texts and lighting up at Alex's. Annoying. I felt bad for James. 3y
vlwelser Sophie annoyed me here. I know she had good intentions telling him to go but she's sort of pushing this even though Jess isn't that into it. 3y
ElizaMarie I feel conflicted with that. I mean she does find comfort in Alex over James, but is it because Alex may able to talk to her more medically based or understand what's what? I mean I think its easy to be a bit confused with why she sought out Alex over James. And I think James is being a gentleman trying to be there for her. But would he have gone if Sophie didn't push? 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick His going feels like a double edged sword. He doesn't go, is he a good, supportive bf? He does go, it's the first time meeting the family and the relationship is new enough, do you want him there? It's just one more thing adding stress into a stressful situation. Did he sleep at mum's with them? Was he on the floor? It seems like Jess is already on the couch. Couldn't get get a hotel room? 3y

Alex James Jess on the walk thoughts ?

Did you cringe ? Ack I could hardly read it!

slategreyskies I definitely cringed. That was just so bad. 3y
Laughterhp This was so cringy! 3y
AmyG Yep. Very cringeworthy. 3y
See All 14 Comments
CoffeeAndABook It was so awful 🙈🙈🙈 I was so relieved when Alex just left and the misery was over! 3y
CoffeeNBooks Yes, that was so uncomfortable! I felt bad for Alex, and was hoping Jess would realize then that she had more in common with and was actually closer to Alex. 3y
mollyrotondo This is incredibly awkward. And later when Alex texted Jess to go for another walk he said that they shouldn‘t invite anyone else 😂 I was like yeah someone needs to say it 😂 3y
Sargar114 Soooo awkward!!! 3y
InkintheMargins This is where Jess and Alex started to get on my nerves. It felt as if James was being treated like a pawn in their game of love. Alex knew he had feelings for her. In my opinion, he shouldn't have inserted himself here. It felt like a bad idea from the beginning for everyone involved. 3y
Karisa Awkward but necessary.. It was a catalyst for Jess and Alex to admit who they wanted to really spend time with 3y
vlwelser It just sort of showed how wrong James was for Jess. 3y
ElizaMarie So Awkward! But I agree with @Karisa it was needed for the true feelings to come out. It helped Jess understand what she really wanted and what “fits“ better into her life. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick 😬Insert the Chrissy Teigen cringey face here.😬 Awkward is a nice way to put it. I could see if the guys maybe seemed to bond a bit prior, but for either Alex or Jess to think this was a good idea, knowing they harbor feelings for the other, was just bad form. How did they really see this ending well? 🤣 3y
TheBookHippie @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick right? Who thought this would work ?! 3y

Emma, thoughts ? Alex sleeping with her AFTER he decides no. What the heck was that ?‘

slategreyskies I blame lots and lots of alcohol. He couldn‘t have been thinking clearly! 3y
CoffeeAndABook Yeah, @slategreyskies alcohol and maybe a shot of loneliness definitely impeded his judgement. He himself was horrified when he woke up the next morning 😱 I was actually expecting more Emma drama after that, surprised she just sort of left the scene. 3y
AmyG Agree @slategreyskies ...alcohol. 3y
See All 12 Comments
Laughterhp Yeah, definitely blaming the alcohol but you can‘t blame everything on alcohol. I‘m glad there was no Emma drama after that and she started dating someone else. 3y
CoffeeNBooks I was so disappointed in Alex, after he'd decided he wasn't going to be involved with Emma any more. 3y
mollyrotondo Uhh this really annoyed. This is why I‘m more of a Rob fan than an Alex fan. 3y
Sargar114 @CoffeeAndABook alcohol and loneliness was the combo I thought too. He thought Jess was happy with James and it was just the right scenario to make a bad decision 3y
InkintheMargins I was not a fan of this moment. 3y
vlwelser Alex needs to grow a pair. He seems to let the girls in his life make all of his decisions. 3y
vlwelser I'm with @mollyrotondo and I think I like Rob better. But Becky is also a fun character so that also works. The scene with the coffee that she won't give back was pretty funny. 3y
ElizaMarie I mean alcohol I am sure played a huge role in this. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick This was disappointing. Earlier, I was OK with it but by this point he was feeling jealous and lonely and had it been anyone other than someone we've already met, I probably couldn't care. This was a step backward for Alex. 3y

Jess hates “hon” and terms of endearment, do you like it?

AmyG I don‘t but....I sometimes call my kids “cutie”. It‘s what my grandfather called me. And I loathe the term “babe”.....used over and over. 3y
TheBookHippie @AmyG it‘s like fingernails on chalkboard just no. My grandson is “Nana‘s baby” but he named his self 🤣🤣🤣💯💙 3y
CoffeeAndABook I could totally relate to Jess‘s repulsed reaction to the „hon“ in that situation. Poor Jamie was trying to force something that just wasn‘t there. But terms of endearment can be very sweet, depending on how they developed. I love it when my husband calls me the German word for sunshine, it just makes my little heart sing 🤩 But from the wrong person, in the wrong context - yuck! 3y
See All 15 Comments
slategreyskies I wouldn‘t like hon either, but I think some pet names are cute. I‘ve always had a soft spot for being called sweetheart, since it was what my grandfather used to call me. 3y
Laughterhp I mean, I like terms of endearment but weird that he would throw one out for the first time in a group setting. 3y
CoffeeNBooks @Laughterhp I agree that it seemed like an awkward time to call Jess that for the first time. 3y
ElizaMarie I love it! I am all for pet names :) 3y
mollyrotondo Okay so I am all about timing in a relationship. If we just met and only went out once do not call me a pet name (experience). I like to be called babe and baby but after we have clearly entered the relationship and we know each other really well. And it can‘t be done for the first time in public. It needs to come out in private first. I can‘t stand when things like this happen prematurely. 3y
TheBookHippie @mollyrotondo it all felt rushed 🙄 3y
Sargar114 @mollyrotondo I think that‘s exactly it! Plus she also wasn‘t sure about the relationship so using a pet name seemed to take it to a level she wasn‘t comfortable with. 3y
Sargar114 I don‘t really have an opinion about pet names, my husband has one for me and his dad tried calling me that and it was all kinds of weird!!! 3y
InkintheMargins It was definitely awkward! I thought the way they all played around it was cute and real though. It was better than if they had just ignored it or even groaned about it later while he wasn't there. At least it was out in the open and he knew it was a no go. 3y
vlwelser I do it and I don't mind when other people do. But some people find it really offensive. 3y
vlwelser But in this case I just don't think Jess is all that into this dude and would find just about anything annoying. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I don't mind it, depending on who, what, where, and how it's said. My dad had always called me pumpkin so that's normal. Grandma calls me sweetie. My guy and I use babe most often. Hon feels like a service word "anything else I can get ya, hon?" Or I think of my friends grandmother. She would do a little roll & press on your arm while calling you hon. Super sweet ones like pookie and sugar bear are dealbreakers if you ever want to get laid.?? 3y

Gen takes the person she‘s dating and morphs into them. Know anyone like this? Why do people do this?

If you‘ve ever seen Eat Pray Love it‘s mentioned there too ..about Liz.

AmyG I can only think that maybe people morph into others as their relationship with the person is what they think defines them. They are not confident in who they are- alone. Yes, don‘t we all know people like this? 3y
slategreyskies @AmyG I know I‘ve been one of “those people” before. I always found it hard to figure out who I was, and it was easier to morph into my partner or someone very much like that person. I don‘t do that anymore, but I did for years. 3y
Laughterhp I don‘t know if I know someone like that. I do know people who once they start dating someone they disappear never to be heard from again until they break up with the person. Which really annoys me. 3y
See All 13 Comments
ElizaMarie I feel like when we are younger we might fall into this. It‘s a fear of rejection, fear of not being loved for who you really are. I was guilty of it when I was younger and in my first marriage. Now I know more who I am and my worth and it‘s different now 3y
TheBookHippie @Laughterhp That I cannot STAND. I have an old childhood friend who lives by that always put a man first girlfriends will always be there... well. No this one! Ha. 3y
TheBookHippie @ElizaMarie I use to think likewise but I see it still in friends who are 64 and older and I think aren‘t you tired? Don‘t you just want to be yourself ? Or find yourself?! Maybe because I‘m so fiercely independent 🤷🏽‍♀️ I don‘t get it. We have so much worth I wish more women believed that. 3y
mollyrotondo I do know people who sort of give up their hobbies or interests and acted like the hobbies of their new boyfriend were also their hobbies. I don‘t think I‘ve ever known anyone who starts to dress similarly to their boyfriend lol I have known couples though that already dressed very much alike. Like they both already had that style. I am grateful I didn‘t fall into any of that. I have my relationship insecurities for sure but not this one 3y
Sargar114 My brother is like this. Luckily he has a good one, but I think it‘s cause he lacks direction so it‘s easy for him to fall into whatever interests the person he‘s with. 3y
InkintheMargins I remember seeing something about Brad Pitt accused of being like this years ago. The picture evidence was pretty telling. Lol. 3y
TheBookHippie @MadDashReading YES!!! I remember that! 3y
TheBookHippie @Sargar114 my sister-in-law is 🤷🏽‍♀️ 3y
Sargar114 @TheBookHippie I call them relationship chameleons 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Luckily, the two I know are more open to trying their SO's interests and hobbies than dressing alike and acting alike. I can't fault them for that. Yes maybe they've begun kayaking because of their relationship, but who else was going kayaking before for her to try it? None of us. 3y

Sophie puts her books by color what do you do for book organising ?

AmyG My books are a mess. I do have all my BOTM, signed books and Grateful Dead books in one spot. The rest are just shelved any which way. 3y
CoffeeAndABook Ha, same as @AmyG , almost no system. I have my fave books on our living room, close by where I can always see them ☺️ and I have my spiritual books and my work books on a separate shelf. That‘s all! And I know precisely where every book is 🙌🏼 3y
slategreyskies Mine are roughly organized by category according to the books I have a lot of. There are several cookbook shelves and several poetry shelves. My literary journals are on one shelf, and my writing books are on another. I also have a section for art related books and one for books about being on the spectrum. My fiction books are a mess, though. No order whatsoever! 😂 3y
See All 13 Comments
Laughterhp I try to organize mine by genre and then I have my BOTM all on one shelf. 3y
CoffeeNBooks My books are all organized alphabetically by author, and alphabetically by title if I have multiple books by an author. I'm a bit crazy about organizing things, lol! 3y
ElizaMarie I feel like that is pretty and can be aesthetic but I would have to have a part of the shelf that has TBR books 3y
mollyrotondo Organizing books? What‘s that? 😂 I have books all over. My TBR books are stacked up high in my bedroom and I also have TBR books in bins upstairs on my bookshelves. Then books I have already read are just stacked in other bins. The bins are to protect my books from my paper chewing bird. Books are protected but not organized 🤣 3y
Sargar114 Majority of our books have no organization especially now as in between moves. The only shelf I have organized is my BOTM books and those are unread and by date. Once read they‘re off the shelf and in either my new or pass piles. If this shelf is full, I try to force myself to skip the month if nothing is calling to me. 3y
InkintheMargins @mollyrotondo kindred spirit here! My dream is to have multiple shelves and an organized system. However, I ran out of space on the 2 shelves I do have years ago, and it has been nothing but a chaos of stacks, bins, and cubbies since then 🤣. I kind of know where every book is....at least down to the room. Lol. 3y
Karisa I'm with all of you. My books are in piles on just about every flat surface and those that I've had longest are on shelves. Not much organization. Sorry, Marie Kondo 😂 3y
vlwelser Mine are by genre. Fiction is alphabetical. My TBR is a total disaster. I have books hidden in a closet in my bedroom. I'm a mess. 3y
mollyrotondo @MadDashReading I know I love spending time with my books 😂 😜 and would love to organize them either by author or genre but I know it won‘t stay like that so I don‘t even bother. Maybe I‘ll strike it rich one day and buy a home with a massive library that I‘ll have plenty of room to put all my books in and have them in proper order but for now I manage with the stacks and bins 😂 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I'm in league with @mollyrotondo @MadDashReading @Karisa I use a method called "disorganized chaos and building furniture". ? My nightstand is currently 6 stacks that hold my phone & sleep mask. Some under the bed, in the closet, on shelves in the living room, in storage, and a couple of bags in the guest bathroom since we don't get company. I picked up an old bookcase from my youth and might see how many bedside stacks can fit on it. 3y

#SUNDAYBUDDYREAD #1

So Alice slept with a friend of Alex is a coworker... then breaks that off then comes by Alex? Then goes back to the coworker. Just yikes.

Is Alice part of who Alex use to be you think ? Or would they have broken up anyway ?

AmyG I think he was trying to be who he thought he should be - as opposed to who he wanted to be. 3y
CoffeeAndABook I know what you mean - it‘s hard to believe “any” Alex would fall in love with her. I think the problem is that she‘s portrayed as too one-dimensional. If we‘d been able to see her good side as well we might have been able to chalk her behavior down to „being human“, panicking and running back to the safeness of an ex when things went bad with her new boyfriend. Sadly it‘s an understandable impulse ~~ and fortunately Alex at least resisted it! 3y
slategreyskies I agree with @AmyG . Sometimes people get caught up in things because they haven‘t really thought about what they want, and they‘re just going through the motions, following the crowd. I do think that she shouldn‘t have gone back to Alex. I think that showed that she cares more about herself than she ever did about him. 3y
See All 9 Comments
ElizaMarie @AmyG I feel like this speaks volumes! Sometimes we act like what we thing we should be and not be our authentic self! I‘m hoping that all changes next year for me :) 3y
InkintheMargins @coffeandabook I agree. We only really get to see her through Alex's eyes which may not be fair to her. Returning to her the safety of an ex, after a new dating experience fails, happens all the time. It can be easy to slide back into the known. Though it rarely ever ends well! I'm glad that her return pretty much put the final nail in the coffin of that relationship. I mean it was already over, but Alex seemed to get more closure after this. 3y
mollyrotondo I agree @slategreyskies that people just follow the crowd when they don‘t know what they want. I think Alex was doing this when he dated Alice. Then he realized what he wanted and was able to move on. Alice is still sort of stuck and needs to be happy on her own and then find a partner who wants the same things she wants. 3y
Karisa Yes, I think Alex after going through his father's illness and death did change. I think that event made him reconsider a lot of things he took for granted in life. It made him stronger and more compassionate. Alice represents more of his old self and who he was before that event. 3y
vlwelser I think he would have stayed with her forever. Because she seemed to be the one making the decisions. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Since this is a rom-com with a clear endgame of Alex & Jess, Alice is brought into the story for conflict, but is very one-dimensional as @CoffeeAndABook mentioned. They probably would've stayed together if he stuck to law as they seemed content. Alice's issue was the profession/lifestyle change. 3y

I'm exactly who companies are marketing to when they come out with new flavors of things, lol! 🤣 I always want to try the new flavors of cereal, poptarts, potato chips, coffee... so, when I saw this coffee at the store the other day, I was intrigued. Again, I'm pretty committed to Bones Coffee, but this flavor looked good, and it is! ☕📚 Sunday morning #coffeeandabook, finishing the last section of our last #SundayBuddyRead of 2020.

ChasingOm These always catch my eye as well and, since my husband works at a grocery store, I‘ve tried some weird things. 😂 3y

Very much enjoyed this book. I liked getting to know multiple characters from different perspectives and really identified with Jess as I am the same age and having a similar identity/career discovery right now. The audiobook narration was great. The life problems they faced as characters were realistic as well which I appreciated. Looking forward to discussion with #sundaybuddyread

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I very much enjoyed this romance with the #sundaybuddyread this month. It was a quick read. I liked the romance story but I also liked that we learned about Jess‘s friends and the other flatmates so it wasn‘t a book that was consumed by one couple. Good December pick. This was also my #bookspinbingo No. 16 pick.
