Buffering: Unshared Tales of a Life Fully Loaded | Hannah Hart
The wildly popular YouTube personality and author of the New York Times bestseller My Drunk Kitchen is back! This time, shes stirring up memories and tales from her past. By combing through the journals that Hannah has kept for much of her life, this collection of narrative essays deliver a fuller picture of her life, her experiences, and the things shes figured out about family, faith, love, sexuality, self-worth, friendship and fame. Revealing what makes Hannah tick, this sometimes cringe-worthy, poignant collection of stories is sure to deliver plenty of Hannahs wit and wisdom, and hopefully encourage you to try your hand at her patented brand of reckless optimism. Personal note: Hello, my darlings! I am incredibly pleased to present BUFFERING: Unshared Tales of a Life Fully Loaded! As a big fan of memoirs, I wanted to try my hand at writing about the events of my life that deserve a little more consideration than can be accomplished in 140-characters or a 6-minute vlog. Now on the cusp of turning 30, I'm ready to expose some parts of my life that I haven't shared before. Before, it was all about privacy, process and time. And now the time has come! Im ready to put myself out there, for you. I'm a little nervous about all these vulnerable words going into the world, these tales about my love life, the wrestling Ive done with faith, how I feel about sex and my family and myself. Ive had a lot of trials, a lot of errors, but also a lot of passion. Heres the thing--I've always found comfort in the stories shared by others, so I hope my stories, now that I feel ready to tell them, will bring you some comfort too. And when you read this book please remember: Buffering is just the time it takes to process. Enjoy! Love, Hannah

abookishbutterfly I got Marrow from The Dollar Tree recently but, frankly, I am a bit jealous of your DT‘s selection! 5y
allureofbeauty @Butterflyamore well if you want to buddy read it let me know. This is from like four dollar trees probably and over a couple months (I have a few more pics to post just didn‘t want to do them all at once lol). 5y
abookishbutterfly @allureofbeauty I‘d love to but would need to wait until September or October. My TBR pile is pretty crazy, too! 5y
allureofbeauty @Butterflyamore well I doubt I‘m going to get to it immediately so that would be fine too. Because beyond all I‘ve bought over the last few months I still had plenty of others I should be reading lol 5y
abookishbutterfly @allureofbeauty Okay. Sounds good! 5y

This quote hit me like a truck. I had to put the book down and hug someone after reading it. I get the feeling I‘m going to be crying a lot while reading this book.

Just finished this one on audio from #Libby. I was very vaguely aware of Hannah Hart before this book, but I really can‘t pass up a highly rated memoir! I think it was most successful when dealing with her relationship with her mom and her childhood, but really all of it was heartfelt and genuine. It‘s hard to say you enjoyed a book that deals with such hard topics (mental health, child abuse, self harm) but it was ultimately very enjoyable.

I was excited to find this signed copy of Buffering at McKay‘s in the bargain section. I know her from @ Midnight- did anyone else love that show as much as my husband and I did? I miss it so much! Anyway, I thought she was adorable and funny doing comedy improv on there, so wanted to check out her book. I‘m actually listening to the audio, since she reads it. I often listen to audios of books I own to climb #MountTBR.

Seekingtardis I do that too!!! 6y
daniwithtea If you haven‘t seen it, look for My Drunk Kitchen on YouTube for some vintage Hannah Hart :) 6y

NovelGirl82 I loved @midnight! I‘m so sad that it‘s over. I listen to books that I own to get through my tbr, as well. 6y
Bookzombie I listened to this on audio and really liked it. I was already familiar with her on YouTube, but the memoir gives a lot more. I can‘t wait to here what you think. 🙂 6y

Hannah Hart cracks me up on her YouTube show “My Drunk Kitchen” so when I bought this book, I sort of assumed I would be laughing at the puns and jokes she tells but instead I really got to know and understand her in a way that made me even feel like I connected with her. Love her even more now.

5⭐️- This memoir was incredibly emotional and I was completely absorbed in it. I read the entire thing in one day. I had no idea what Hannah went through as a child and, even though I admired her before, this memoir put her positive attitude in greater context. She is incredible.

Bookzombie I agree! Great review! (edited) 7y

I‘ve loved Hannah Hart since she first appeared on my computer screen, a little tipsy and attempting to make ice cream from scratch. Since then we have both grown a lot, although only one of us has been catapulted into Internet stardom. I'm so excited to finally be diving into this now that it's out in paperback, to continue to learn from this incredibly inspiring woman. - Jax

Some of my favourite fiction and nonfiction books about fierce, independent women. I recommend all of them!

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have read 2 of those and completely agree! Now I'll have to add the other two! 👍 7y

Even though I have watched Hannah's videos and enjoyed them, I wasn't originally interested in her book. However, I'm pleased that I took the time to listen to it. She does talk about her career, but it's the chapters on her childhood, her mother's mental issues, her father's strict religious beliefs, and her sexuality that really stand out. I highly recommend listening to Hannah narrate her story. #nonfictionchallenge17

Just started this. In the audiobook, Hannah Hart reads her memoir. I'm not familiar with her YouTube series but am now definitely interested in checking it out!

ReadingEnvy I loved the early episodes of Drunk Kitchen!! 7y
VanChocStrawberry I just checked this out last week. I've watched a few of her videos and find her charming, funny and irreverent. Plus her experiences of leaving a strict fundamentalist faith resonate with me! 7y
RebL I've lol'd at just about every webisode, but also worry about her health. Makes me want to read the memoir. 7y

I didn't know what to expect from this one. I'd heard (false) things that didn't give me a good impression, but once I read it for myself I was pretty surprised. It's definitely not what I would call a light read, I haven't teared up during a memoir... We'll ever. She's incredibly honest and doesn't hide anything, and she's been through a lot. Don't go in expect something light and fluffy, expect something really heavy.

Going to prove you should never believe anything you read on the internet... Someone posted an edited (?) version of this that made it seem Hannah states that Triggers (not trigger warnings) in life aren't a real thing. However, that's not what she said. And now I'm bummed I was silly enough to believe it. Ah well, live and learn.

I was so surprised by this book. I'm trying to formulate a sentence that could encapsulate this book and all I can think is: it's so breathtakingly honest. I'm so glad she chose to narrate the audiobook because her stories in someone else's voice wouldn't have had the same affect.

23 of them were either children's books or manga haha. Looking at reading challenges, such as Read Harder, I've noticed I have very constricted reading list. Unintentionally of course, my tbr list is just so long and I want to read all these old books and it's difficult to branch out because there are SO many books to be read that aren't on my list!! But I should branch out more, there are only so many fantasy novels one can read... #nov16stats

Hannah is the FIRST person I've seen acknowledge this depression - my depression. It was honestly getting to the point that I questioned "is it real? Or did my brain make it all up". Thank you Hannah, even if it did make me cry. But it was with happiness for once.
