Middlesex: A Novel | Jeffrey Eugenides

People were falling in love, getting married, going to drug rehab, learning how to ice skate, getting bifocals, studying for exams, trying on clothes, getting their hair cut, and getting born. And in some of those houses people were getting old and sick and were dying, leaving others to grieve. It was happening all the time, unnoticed, and it was the thing that really mattered.

Suet624 This reminded me of how much I liked this book. Thank you!

If you don‘t get a sense of the family being dysfunctional by page 4, you haven‘t been paying attention. The brother isn‘t named as of yet, only referred to as “Chapter Eleven”. 😂😂

I actually pegged the plot pretty early on. But the ending was a twisty ride. Easy read, fast read, good and suspenseful.

Wouldn‘t we all do better not trying to understand, accepting the fact that no human being will ever understand another, not a wife a husband, a lover a mistress, nor a parent a child? Perhaps that‘s why men have invented God - a being capable of understanding.

Starting this one. One review hinted at meandering and no real plot, another hinted at it falling into several genres. All of these things appeal to me right now.📖📚

I love how inclusive this series is. Magic, badass hardcore lady-types, and an overall feel-good read. This scene is such an easy concept that so many people don't understand. I have asked many of my patients how they would like to be addressed. It's not hard to respect someone in a way that makes them comfortable. Kudos to the LumberJanes for getting it!

I‘m am not far into this and I already am cringing. I have 4 yr old girls (twins) and I can‘t imagine letting them cook for themselves, shoot a gun, or making them bounce around the country. It‘s a true showcase of the parents mental problems and paranoia.

In-laws are pretty much the same across all demographics. I snorted at that last line. This books is a must read. I love how in amongst the heavy age has woven a few lines that can make anyone with a strong-willed, slightly crazy family smile.

Taking a break from the heavier book subjects for a light, fun read. Yeah, I‘m 30. But I was an Usborne Rep and feel in love with world saving yetis. (Just finished The Dovekeepers & also reading A House for Happy Mother‘s)

This was my first Alice Hoffman book. She wove a brilliant tale. Historical fiction isn‘t usually my jam but this one (passed on to me from my mother who loves historical fiction) is quite good.

God made mud.
God got lonesome.
So God said to some of the mud “Sit up!”
“See all I‘ve made,” said God “the hills, the sea, the sky, the stars.”
And I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look around.
Lucky me, lucky mud.
I mud, sat up and saw what a nice job God had done.
Nice going, God!

All I need in life. Nelson Mandela endured so much to make sure that South Africans could have the peaceful life that I am enjoying right now. His sacrifices and determination give me hope that there are always good people in the world, even when the US government seems to be in flames constantly.

Ok Litsy #mydadwroteaporno fans, I have a theory. What if Belinda Blinked is actually an dystopian novel. What if they live in a society something like that of The Hunger Games and they use food in sex shows and weird shit as a show of wealth? What if this is set in the richest class of society? Maybe that‘s why the kitchen ware companies are so revered and powerful.

The Uncanny Valley: Tales from a Lost Town | Gregory Miller, John Randall York
Pickpick

If you want a creepy ass Halloween book, this is it. A radio station asks for stories of towns in Pennsylvania. What they got was not what they were looking for. The stories from Uncanny Valley are... different. It took me FOREVER to read because it kept creeping me out and I‘d have to put it down for a bit and come back later. Totally worth the read. Horror fans will enjoy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

On children fighting. Accurate AF. I adore this book so far. The main character is super relatable for me. Quirky, funny, awkward, several unruly children, and she hates staff meeting. Also, got in trouble for eye rolling at work which is also me.
