I was delighted to be invited by @shawnmooney to talk about Helen Dunmore's debut Zennor in Darkness on his Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@shawnthebookmaniac6275) this summer. This is my 7th book by Helen Dunmore, so I guess you could say I am a fan. Like everything she writes, this is a beautiful, albeit sad story that takes place during WW1 and concerns a young girl, Clare, her cousin, John William, and D.H. Lawrence. Not much happens, but it is totally immersive and evocative of a time and place.

Lynnsoprano Sounds like a busy day! Sitting with my book and my feet up, because all the walking we‘ve been doing has apparently given me a sore knee. Pretty sure it‘s muscular, so taking it easy for a few days, ice packs, etc. Hubby fusses every time I get out of my chair. He fixed lunch and is cooking dinner, so this may not be a bad thing 😂 4y

JacqMac That sounds busy. It‘s supposed to storm here all weekend, so I did errands today. Got groceries. Went to the bank. Picked up some salt for when the ice comes. Now I‘m doing laundry. Not a fun day, but we are prepared. 4y

kezzlou85 Been okay. Found out the break in at the school may be linked to a break in at a church. They think it was young teens who did both. Its awful. 4y

Lynnsoprano @JacqMac Thanks! He‘s definitely a keeper. I have only myself to blame. I should have backed off when it started to bother me, but kept pushing on until today the knee went, “nope, not happening.” I got to the corner and turned around. Promised hubby that if it‘s not better in a week I will see the doctor. 4y

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Other than a one hour Teams meeting going an extra 83 minutes (!!😫) my day is alright. I'm the boss today and the staff has left me alone because they know I won't cater to them. I'm stuck here about 2 more hours but I should be able to just chill out & read. 4y

CocoReads Not a terribly taxing day so far but now it‘s just me and a pharmacist. 2 hours to go. Readjusted my schedule for tomorrow because due to a snafu, there‘s no opening person so I‘ll be back at 6:30 am—the good news is, if it remains uneventful, I‘ll be able to leave at3. So I should be able to start my readathon early! 4y

JanuarieTimewalker13 I went to Staples today and purchased 500 book tabs to get my tabbing on. Figured that would get to this crowd. Lol otherwise, I purchased black cardstock and markers at Joann Fabrics for my creative journaling...I thought the markers were more like gel pens, but they‘re not. This is what happens when old people don‘t put their readers on in stores. I really needed a silver gelly roll pen🤷🏽‍♀️ my bad. (edited) 4y

TheSpineView It was a good day. I only worked a half day. Working short weeks was OK for a while bit I am getting worried that business is still very slow. Just keeping my fingers crossed that next year will be better. 🤞 4y
