Not sure which one of these mammoth 🦣 reads to take on a 6day break in the sun ☀️ 🤔Fantasy ? A much loved writer or a family dynasty akin to Downton abbey ???

Mollies not sure 🤔 either 😆
Just finished this door stopper ebook , I admit I was sceptical about this series. I‘ve read and enjoyed the author‘s other series. I confess I thought this was just a murder mystery. I was wrong - it‘s so much more ! There‘s a ton of world 🌎 building - a new group of sassy characters- and some serious couple vibes ( I have a definite soft spot for #romantsy ) I immediately put a hold on book 2. 👍👍
#woundrousWednesday thanks for the tag @Eggs 1. I am a big bailer and often do not finish books - so I tend to avoid buddy reads and book clubs.
2. I like romantsy and science fiction/fantasy themes. 3.the tagged book starting a new series Tagging everyone who would like to play 💚🐉

Hitting the road for a 5 hour road trip so I thought I'd start this big bitch and catch up on some reviews
My coworker makes book sleeves. Do I need them? No. But are they too cute not to have? Yes.
I enjoyed this crime/murder mystery set in a modern, cell phone using society with all kinds of races of magical people. Bryce, a human antiquities dealer whose friends were slaughtered two years ago teams up with Hunt, a local military angel, to try and solve the murders when the same type of gruesome killings start happening again. Naturally, both are ridiculously good looking, but Bryce is still traumatized by the prior murders, and Hunt is ⏬
Super excited to start this. So far it has me hooked!
Maas is definitely a one-trick pony when it comes to her books but I just don't care. I'm not looking for something thought provoking when I grab one of her books - I'm looking for a trashy escape and she always provides. It's too long, too wordy, too "not at all special but way too special" and less adult than her YA but I love it. Say what you will but Maas can create a world. Can't wait to start the next one but if she pulls a Tamlin I'll riot!
As always I'm unsure of my #weekendreading plans. I am finishing my reread on HOEAB which I've been working on all week in preparation for HOSAB which was SUPPOSED to be here yesterday. I can forgive the delay due to the massive flooding and flash freezing that followed I guess though. 😑 I did download the audiobook too so I might keep my plan and continue on anyway. If not, a little historical fiction may be in order 🤔
@Andrew65
Finished my reread! 🎉 This book was just as fantastic the second time around. It's huge- almost 800 pages - but they simply flew by! I definitely cried throughout the last 100 pages! So many emotions! Now I am even more hyped for the second book on Tuesday! ❤📖❤ #catsoflitsy #littenkitten #rumpel
This one took me a long time to get into because I didn't find Bryce overly likeable in the beginning but I'm so glad I pushed through. I was completely absorbed in this story halfway through and the last 200 pages had me frantically turning pages to see what would happen next. I shouldn't have been surprised, Maas books always take me a bit to get invested but she is definitely a master of her craft and did not disappoint.
Snoooooow! ❄❤❄ Just flurries right now, nothing major, but it still makes for a cozy reading day! 😊 I've only got about 200 pages or so on my reread of this first Crescent City book so I should be finished up today! Just in time for book 2 which comes out Tuesday! 💕📚💕
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘ve said it before & I‘ll say it again: Sarah J. Maas just writes books perfectly tailored to me. She can do no wrong. I was hesitant to start this series, but with book 2 coming out next week, thought I‘d finally dive in, and I was not disappointed.
It‘s 800 pages, & I read the last 450 in less than 24 hours.
Cannot wait for book 2!
Finished my reread and enjoyed it more the second time around. I am pro Hunt 💯 and am so excited for House of Sky & Breath next week!
Completed my #bookspin book for February as well 🥰
@TheAromaofBooks
We‘re getting there! At just about the half way point ☺️
Bk3 of February 2022 is done! Another reread, I‘ve been bouncing around everywhere with books this year, I think I‘ve read one from nearly every genre on my shelf with new reads & rereads both. With this I thought I‘d freshen my memory before the 2nd comes out in a few days🙌Loved it just as much as the first read, I have a huge weakness for Maas‘ books, don‘t know why. Maybe it‘s the hot guys with wings?🕊 #BookspinBingo #SeriesRead2022👇
Been reading this for about a week and I don‘t know if it‘s just me but did anyone else have a problem with the point of view shifting mid dialogue from one main character to the other without a break? It‘s not gonna make me stop reading this but it‘s something that has just stuck out to me😬 enjoying it otherwise though!

I really enjoyed this one. Was it necessary to drag the story for 800 pages? No, not really. Yet, I got invested in the characters and cried through the last 100 pages. I‘m glad that the second book comes out this month so I don‘t have to wait a year to continue.

Here is my February #BookSpinBingo board! My #bookspin book is House of Earth and Blood which I've started so I can get ready for House of Sky and Breath 💙
Thanks @EadieB for the tag!
1. House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas at 806 pages 🎧
2. Sometimes I do depending on how busy work is, but usually I just audioread them!
Please feel free to play if you haven't done so yet! Enjoying seeing all of the responses so far. 😁
@TheSpineView
Alright; I‘m finally doing it! I‘m finally diving into House of Earth and Blood for the first time after staring at it for over a year in preparation for the very close release of the second book, House of Sky and Breath; now to see if I can finish this in time💙🙌🏼📖 #chunkster #currentread
“Through love, all is possible”
#January2022
This has a lot to recommend it, including great characters, a large variety of meaty relationships, some intense action sequences, and a cool setting. I loveloveLOVED about 300 of its 800 pages, and in the end that was enough to let me love it overall.
That said, it‘s HEAVILY padded. I get the sense Maas loves her characters and their world so much that she wants to tell the reader EVERYTHING about them. The story would‘ve flowed much better ⬇️
In case I haven‘t made it clear by now, I sometimes have uneven reactions to Maas‘s books—but I consistently love how she thanks her dog all her acknowledgments. Dogs are super important.
(Oh, and I had an unexpected block of free time this afternoon, so I DID finish the book. Full review coming soon.) #NewYearWhoDis
I probably won‘t finish HOEAB today, but I‘m on track for tomorrow! It‘s weird; y‘all know I‘ve struggled with some aspects of it, but there were about 150 pages where I was absolutely in book-love. Alas, I‘m now back in regular old book-like, with the strong feeling this would‘ve been a fabulous 350-pager.
Also of note: I keep picturing Syrinx as Casey with a lion‘s tail, pointy ears, and a more obviously Pekingese face.
I‘m far enough into HOUSE OF EARTH AND BLOOD that I‘m invested in the story and the characters have grown on me, but y‘all? I really think this is a 350-400 page book trapped inside an 800-page book. I get the sense Maas has reached the popularity threshold where her editors don‘t rein her in as often as they would with a newer author or one with a smaller fanbase. So many infodumps. So much unnecessary repetition. #unpopularopinion #NewYearWhoDis
This is my second time reading and I love this book. Honestly this book and Bryce has inspired me in so many ways, to feeling better about my weight and curves, to building confidence and finally making some decent friends at university. The book has taught me to cherish every day and love harder than before. To be brave and never let anyone make me feel insufficient. To be badass and look good doing it. And that through love, all is possible❤🌙
I‘m 100 pages into my second #NewYearWhoDis book, and while I think I‘ll like the STORY, I‘m frustrated with all the infodumps. I don‘t remember them being this extreme in Maas‘s earlier books, but maybe that‘s because she had more fish-out-of-water characters before. Here, everyone‘s lived in this world since birth, so there‘s no reason for huge explanations.
My dad tested negative! I can go out among the people again!
I trundled out this morning for my last library haul of 2021: Olivia Dade‘s latest and the first two arrivals from @Laughterhp ‘s #NewYearWhoDis list. There‘re a couple more in transit for me, too; something to look forward to in early 2022.
This year I managed to read 151 books!
There were so many good ones but if I have to pick 5 favourites then they would be:
1. Crescent City by Sarah J Maas🌙
2. A Court of Silver Flames by SJM
3. Gothikana by Runyx
4. Blade of Secrets by Tricia Levenseller
5. Echoes by Laura Tisdall
This book did not beat me. I fought through all 799 pages, godsdammit, and I hated every word. I hate this book.
I hate this book with every fiber of my being. I‘ve put 8 hours into it and I‘m STILL not done??? Why is it 800 pages long??
I hate this book so much and I STILL have 530 pages left. I want to finish it, because I haven‘t DNFed a book this year, but this one might break me.
Reread in preparation for next February‘s book 2 ⭐️ enjoyed more 2nd time around, maybe. Knew what I was in for. I definitely felt I needed a Reread to refresh on some of the secondary characters, which SJM has said get a lot more page time in book 2. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book. It is gut wrenching and so emotional for me. Not normally much for fantasy, but this is different. Fae, angels, shifters, vampires, merfolk, demons. Jeez. They‘re all here. Can‘t wait for the next one to come out in November!
#AwesomeAugust - 1st book complete
Wow, I know this book was a chunkster but I loved it. I was never bored or skimming pages. I was 100% into this book and couldn‘t put it down when I was reading. I went through a lot of emotions reading this one. I loved it and can‘t wait for the next one.
We finally got the tent up and ready so enjoying some time outside while the toddler naps and getting his pool ready for fun later 😊

While this was an easy and fast-paced read, it was just ok for me. The story itself was interesting and had some plot twists at the end. The writing could have been better, though. The lack of steamy scenes was a bit disappointing too, given the sexual tension throughout the 800+ page book. Overall, I think this one is a bit overhyped. #unpopularopinion
I almost stopped this read a few chapters in. I wasn't sure if I was enjoying it much and it's a VERY long listen. I'm glad I kept going though because it kept getting better and better...so many plot twists! This is my first read by SJM. 4⭐
#longhaul
O. M. G. This book took me a little while to wrap my head around her world structure, but hot DANG the plot was intense, the plot twists were WILD, and I literally could not put it down until I finished it at 1am. An excellent gripping read, with characters so well written that you cry for them. Would recommend (but only if you‘re ok with mucho profanity and some intense smexy scenes!).
