ImperfectCJ The cover that doesn't close is awful! My pet peeve is poor paper quality that's rough on my fingers. I'm apparently very sensitive. :-) 5h

ChaoticMissAdventures Yes! So annoying. I am constantly putting heavy things on it. My biggest pet peeve is stickers (real and fake) on the cover. I don't care what celebrity bookclub this is a pick for I want to just see the full cover! 5h

lil1inblue Have you ever gotten a book with a bad spine or binding? I had one that just fell apart as I read it. By the end of the book, it was in like 8 separated sections. It was the worst. 2h

DogMomIrene Pop up covers are super annoying. I‘m also with @ChaoticMissAdventures - stickers are the worst, especially if they don‘t peel off easily and leave residue. I‘m not a fan of cleaning that gunk. 2h

I‘m happy to have discovered this fantasy series and enjoyed this one so much I‘ve already read the second one. Lara is one of 12 princesses, half sisters raised as warriors in a secret desert compound with the main objective of bringing down Aren, a rival king of the Bridge Kingdom who basically controls trade. Following her arranged marriage to Aren, she uses her cunning and skills to spy and smuggle out information for invasion to her father.🔻

robinb But after she finds herself falling for the king and his people, and when her father‘s army invades, she finds herself labeled a traitor and banished by Aren himself. Heartbroken and guilt-ridden she later learns that her husband has been taken prisoner, both to force the surrender of his kingdom and to lure Lara out of hiding so her father can kill her. I loved everything about this story, the rich characters, the adventurous plot, the romance.🔻 5d

robinb But I was especially captivated by Lara, the warrior princess/queen. Strong, fierce and determined, she is a force to be reckoned with. Recommended. And just as an aside, this gorgeous cover fits perfectly with the story. 5/5⭐️ (edited) 5d

TEArificbooks I grew up in northern Kansas, the whole wind swept prairies situation. Lots of snow all winter. We never had a snow day even when the buses couldn‘t run cause the dirt roads weren‘t plowed. The kids walked the miles or parents drove them car pooled. Now I live somewhere where if it “might” snow they give the kids snow days. 😂 6d

I gave smut a try. It opens with an orgy of King Midas‘ royal harem including the observing gold-touched woman of the fable. Kind of an interesting story about royalty and war and kingdoms.
Then
BAM. FAE. MONSTERS. PIRATES. GARBAGE. What the HECK happened in the second half of the book. Nuh uh. Not good. Not good writing, not good flow. Did not like but finished just to see how out to lunch it would get. Not worth the time.

This book grew on me towards the end, made me cry, made me cringe and left me emotionally uncertain.
If the series would end after the first book I wouldn‘t be mad but now I‘m curious what else will happen the story of Oraya and Raihn.
