This was a great wintry thriller by one of my favorites. The story involves family that gets dragged into a terrorism plot by one of their own. Very suspenseful throughout, very engaging. My husband and I read it together using a combination of audiobook and print copies. I just love Ken Follett‘s work, both his thrillers and his historical fiction.

My husband and I are reading this together. We started listening to the audio to/from vacation last weekend, and now he has picked our physical copy up to keep going. I‘m listening throughout the day on my work commutes. I LOVE Ken Follett and am thrilled that my husband has begun to love his work too.

This one is thrilling and reminds me a little of my last book read: The Drift by CJ Tudor. Follett always keeps me on the edge of my seat.

I love Ken Follett‘s historical fiction series, but was surprised how good I found this thriller book. Certainly a book I wanted to keep reading, & not put down. Some really interesting characters, a good plot, some great dialogue & some believable ways in which the story was resolved. All in all Ken Follett showed the wonderful writer he is once again. Can‘t wait to continue with the other books in his catalogue. Surprised at this book‘s rating.

Freespirit He is a great writer! I loved The Key to Rebecca and The eye of the Needle also❤️📚 5y
CocoReads This was the first Ken Follett I ever read and also the first ebook, I bought when I got my first nook. I really should read more of his books. 5y
Crazeedi Hmmm, I don't think I've read this one! I've enjoyed all his books so have to add! 5y

Ken Follett is an excellent storyteller. Whiteout is a page-turner that does not disappoint. A missing deadly virus canister, a deadly snow storm make up the plot of bio-terrorism. riveting thriller of romance, family relationships and company security. characters are well-fleshed and believable. suspenseful and entertaining. I look forward to reading more Follett in the near future. I highly recommend to those who love suspense thrillers.

DefLeppard Love this one, have you tried his huge, historical sagas yet? 5y

Not saying we have a lot of snow... I‘m saying we have so much snow that I‘m going crazy!

rockpools 🙁 Stay warm! Is there anything under that mound, or is that just ❄️? 5y
Tove_Reads @RachelO Just a low framework on the ground to keep my herbs in the summer stay put. There are two cars on my street with that much snow on them. 5y
rockpools @Tove_Reads Eek. I hope you can stay in and stay cosy. Or is it ‘business as usual‘? 5y

Tove_Reads @RachelO Business as usual. I don‘t think we‘ve ever closed down schools or work places due to snow. 5y
britt_brooke Oh my! 5y
Redwritinghood Wow! That is a lot of snow. We have been lucky this year and not gotten much snow at all. We usually get a ton. 5y
AmyG I am so sick of it. It just snowed last night....and will again for the next 2 days. I feel your pain. 5y

Andrew65 @EadieB Me too! 5y
Tove_Reads @EadieB @andrew65 I have to say that he can switch between genres! I have usually been disappointed with books I‘ve read written by a great author who tries another genre, or another style within the same genre. Follett did a good job! 5y

Has anyone read this? Any thoughts?

EadieB @Andrew65 Listening to audio and reading along. I feel like it‘s going to be a good read! 5y

Here starts our buddy read journey of all the stand alone Ken Follett books, one book per month. First one is Whiteout. February 6: Christmas Eve up to 11 a.m., February 7: Noon to 11.30 p.m., February 8: Christmas Day up to 6 a.m., February 9: 6.15 a.m. to Christmas Day a year later. @EadieB @Andrew65

EadieB @Tove_Reads What are the next Follett books that we are going to read? 5y
Tove_Reads @EadieB Apparently when I asked for all the stand alone Folletts in chronological order I expected them to be oldest-newest, but I just checked that I got them the other way around. Stupid me. So, I guess this time we do it that way... Hornet Flight, Jackdaws, Code to Zero. 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads That‘s find because standalones would not matter when you read them. I just wanted to get my copies lined up. (edited) 5y
Tove_Reads @EadieB Yeah, that‘s why I wanted to do make the list immediately, because I had to order three. The rest we have in English at the library. 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Just checked. My library has them so no problem for me. 5y
Tove_Reads @EadieB 👍🏽 Totally weird we don‘t have these newer ones. Usually the older ones are missing. 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason. 5y
Tove_Reads I guess we are all liking it @EadieB @Andrew65 Although I have to remind me that the author is Follett. Excellent writing yes, but I am so used to 1000 pages of his fic. 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads @Andrew65 I just finished it. 5y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Yes where are the other 600 Pages. I‘m at 6pm on Christmas Eve. Work is getting in the way because would just love to read it non stop. @EadieB (edited) 5y
Tove_Reads I‘ve focused on finishing my first Michener. I only have 200 pages left! Will concentrate on Whiteout tonight. It is good, so I might even finish it tonight. @EadieB @Andrew65 (edited) 5y

@EadieB @Andrew65 Ordered Whiteout and Echoes again... will def not make it to Echoes buddy read, not sure about Whiteout either ☹️ So frustrating! 2 book packages and 2 others have not made it here in the last 2 months.

EadieB @Tove_Reads sorry to hear this! 5y

Tove_Reads @kaye I think I can blame the postal services. 5y
Andrew65 We can hold off the Whiteout read until you get the book. No shortage of books to read! @EadieB @Tove_Reads 5y

Whiteout is one of the #50wordsforsnow. And look, a Follett book under 500 pages! This one takes place during a blizzard on Christmas Eve so I may read it in a few weeks. ❄️ #winterwonderland ❄️

valeriegeary Next time we get a snow forecast (which might be never), I'm for sure grabbing this one to read! 😄 5y
BeADragon3 Reading my first Ken Follett book now and living it. Might have to pick this one up. Doesn't snow where I'm at, but maybe a good storm storm 😉 5y

Tove_Reads @EadieB Nope, a year only has 12 months, so we won‘t be able to read all his books next year. Those are books of 2020. I just went for the first year here 🙂 (edited) 5y
EadieB @Tove_Reads ok because I know Eye of the Needle was one of his first best sellers. I usually like to read them in the order they were written. 5y
