What a tear jerker!!!! Lately I have been “interviewing” books for possible Read Alouds with my fifth graders. I have been drawn to books with characters that are struggling with challenges/disabilities. In this book, the main character is on the Autism Spectrum and is obsessed with homonyms, prime numbers, and rules. She also loves her dog. When her dog is lost during a hurricane, she has to work through her rules in order to deal.

I really liked this book because it was very descriptive it had lots exciting moments and action.It is about this little girl and her dog reign that go through rough things and push through the problems togeather.

Finished the 1/7 books for my first book and fitness challenge and met my goal of running 8 miles this week! Thanks to swim lessons for my boys and my running buddy at lessons.

I‘m half-way through this book. I will definitely be adding this to my classroom library.

Rain Reign is a sweet story about a girl with Aspergers Syndrome and the solace she finds in caring for her dog Rain.

Rose maintains order in her world with adherence to routine, rules and categorizable interests. She loves homonyms, prime numbers and expects strict adherence to rules. Narrated in first person, this is an empathic view of what it‘s like to be in the brain of a young person with ASD and its affect on the people who surround them

This is about a girl who loves homonyms and named her dog after one to. A storm hits and then she has to find her missing dog while leaving her routines and safe places behind to search for her dog.

“Rain knows (nose) to(two, too) stay away from my father‘s feet (feat) and his shoes (shoos).” This shows rose‘s obsession with homonyms

Rain Reign is a great story that students will relate to. The young girl in the story is misunderstood which is something that other students will relate to.

Rain Reign is a book about a young girl who is obsessed with homonyms. She gives her dog a name with two homonyms. She has special rules for homonyms and other obsessions that people don‘t understand. When a storm hits their town and her dog runs away, she has to leave her safe places and habits to search. Students will enjoy this story.

This kid is spending tonight going over a few review questions before tomorrow‘s Battle of the Books competition! She‘s the team captain for her school this year, and takes it very seriously. 📚😍

Disjointed and disappointing. The story line was good but never felt complete. I had hoped for more from this story about a young girl with OCD and Aspergers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 I'm a sucker for a book about dogs and their relationships with their owners. I enjoyed this one about a young girl on the autism spectrum and her dog Rain that goes missing after a hurricane. Both Rose and Rain stole my heart. Naturally I had to include some pictures of the little girl that also stole heart, my sweet Sadie.

I enjoyed this book focusing on a young girl searching for her lost dog. I really liked the protagonist, Rose. It‘s always interesting to read a book from the perspective of a young person with autism. I thought that the plot twist was honestly surprising, and I really didn‘t see it coming. While it is a pretty slow book in which not a lot happens, the plot felt realistic, each point made sense, and the ending felt satisfying.

Sweet and honest story of an autistic child and her dog. A really great read for any age.

Interesting perspective but a little flat. I liked it though!

I have a rule about sad animal books. Basically, I don't read them. This was for a class so I made an exception, and it was very good. But I had tears going down my face for at least half the book...

Day 11 of @bookriot's #riotgrams is #favoritechildrensbook and in all honesty, for having started out my career as a Youth Services librarian, I don't read nearly enough juvenile and middle grade lit. I adore Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, but I know in some/most libraries, it is cataloged as YA.

These are my #bluebooks and I know there's at least 3 juvenile fiction picks in there I definitely need to get to!

Loved every page of this book. It was an easy quick read that made me just want to take Rose home and love her.

Just started and this boom touches my heart. You see, my middle daughter has high functioning autism and I see so much of her in the main character. Rules are important to her also. I already know I am going to enjoy this one. Now the dad, he better shape up.

I work in an elementary school library but don't often read the books for older students. I picked this one up one day and had to read. It's about a girl named Rose(rows) who is on the autism spectrum. She loves homonyms, prime numbers, rules, and her dog Rain. Told from her viewpoint this book is uplifting and heart wrenching at the same time. Expect tears. Would all of us do what was right for someone we loved despite the damage to ourselves!!😭

Just pick this one up from the library, it's one of our Arizona Grand Canyon reader nominees for the year. Love it so far, I can already think of lots of kids who will love to read this book!

I just wanted to gather Rose (rows) up in a hug and say everything is going to be okay as long have Uncle Weldon to see (sea) you through in life. although that would make stress her out and make her recite a few prime numbers.

Must read. An autistic 5th grader tells her own story of the year she found a dog, lived through a hurricane, made a new friend and endured family trouble with grace, an obsession with prime numbers and her uncle. I saw my students in this one. Choked up.

Loved this one. Just like I loved Marcelo in the Real World and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

A middle-grade with the biggest heart. A girl, her dog, and a big storm that changes everything.

Sorry for the cheesy add-on to the photo. I just couldn't help myself. :) I thoroughly enjoyed this short, sweet novel of a young autistic girl and her "Sophie's Choice" decision about her scruffy stray dog whom she names Rain, because, of course, it's a homonym.
